Labeling an eSIM during the installation wizard, not present on iOS 26

Hi there,

How can I best understand the changes on the eSIM Installation wizard, i.e. on iOS 18 and later after an eSIM installation you used to get steps such as labeling the eSIM, deciding what to use for iMessage & FaceTime, what to use for mobile data, main voice line, etc.

Whereas on iOS 26 you are not prompted for these steps.

Hello @gentique_ ,

If you have questions about configuring your personal eSIM for iMessage & FaceTime, it might better suited on the Apple Support Communities. I would recommend to post it there instead of the developer forums.

These forums are for questions about developing software and accessories for Apple platforms. If this is the case then feel free to provide more information! Thanks.

Hi Travis,

the app that I work on sells eSIMs to our customers. We have the entitlement which allows us to perform a direct installation via the addPlan method of CoreTelephony.

We try to educate and guide our customers through the installation wizard that iOS offers, though we have noticed that the steps in the wizard are different from iOS 18 to iOS 26, e.g. some of our customers report that they are not prompted at all with steps such as labeling the eSIM or choosing what to use for mobile data, etc.

What would be the best contact, or is there a source on which we could rely on these changes?

Hello @gentique_,

I understand what’s going on and was able to investigate further.

To avoid any confusion, you can remove the steps regarding labelling eSIM on devices running iOS 26 and later. The label is now assigned automatically.

Let me know if this helps.

That's very helpful @DTS Engineer , thank you!

Any chance there's a resource/documentation which we can reference on any future updates?
