Hi,
You're here because you've had issues with your implementation of Wallet Extensions for Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a new report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below with the appropriate log profiles installed.
Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues
While troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification, it is essential that the issuer is able to collect logs on their device and check those logs for error message. This is also essential when reporting issues to Apple. To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device:
Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2.
Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video.
Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS.
Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information:
The bundle IDs
App bundle ID
Non-UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable)
UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable)
The serial number of the device.
For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy).
For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number.
The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string.
For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy).
For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > System Report > NVMExpress > Serial Number.
The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue.
The timestamp (including timezone) of when the issue was reproduced.
The type of provisioning failure (e.g., error at Terms & Conditions, error when adding a card, etc.)
The issuer/network/country of the provisioned card (e.g., Mastercard – US)
Last 4 digits of the FPAN
Last 4 digits of the DPAN (if available)
Was this test initiated from the Issuer App? (e.g., yes or no)
The type of environment (e.g., sandbox or production)
Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional).
Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or bundle ID of your app or app extensions in the Console app.
Submitting your feedback
Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Apple Pay client.
After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your client, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug.

My client has provided me with admin access to the Apple Developer console. However, when I log in, I am prompted to enroll in the Apple Developer Program. Should I proceed with the enrollment myself, or does the client need to complete the enrollment from their own account?

Hello,
We’re seeing an issue where the Apple Pay button is visible in Safari but not clickable for certain users, while it works normally for others. This happens on our site (https://store-qa2.enphase.com/
) as well as on other sites for the same affected users.
Currently, we display the Apple Pay button based on the following condition:
Boolean(window.ApplePaySession) && ApplePaySession.canMakePayments();
For affected users, the button shows up as expected, but it’s not interactive. All users (both affected and unaffected) are on the latest versions of Safari and macOS/iOS.
Could someone clarify what additional conditions Safari/Apple Pay requires for the button to be fully functional? And under what circumstances could it be visible but not clickable?

I am implementing apple pay and the merchant validation is failing with error (error request failed with status code 417). I am using react js in the frontend and node js in backend, this is my code
const httpsAgent = new https.Agent({

),
key: fs.readFileSync(

const response = await axios.post(validationURL, data, { httpsAgent });
Hello! We use Apple's "master account" scheme to register new clients trough API due to the fact that the number of merchant IDs in a developer account cannot exceed 100 records. It's been almost a year since we successfully used the master account ( ex. "merchant.com.xxx") and register clients via Postman. At the moment, the certificates for the master merchant ID start to expire on July 11 which will affect all customers which is under Master ID. We know that when updating certificates at the identifier level(our master id), new universal identity certificate files that we use to send to the merchants (merchant_id.pem, privkey.key) will be generated for authentication on the merchant side, as well as a new keystore. Since many of our clients are integrated with current files and keystores and have live traffic, we would like to know—is it possible to update certificates on the master account without changing the keystores and certificate identities? The impossibility of this will entail a large gap when switching to new certificates. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hello,
We have implemented In-App Verification using both SMS and mobile app options. While SMS functions as expected, selecting the mobile app for verification in the Wallet app does not open our app on the first attempt. Instead, the verification window simply dismisses.
However, if I select "Complete Verification" again and choose the mobile app, deep linking works as expected, and our app opens correctly.
This issue occurs with any bank card and app I’ve tested in Wallet. Could this be a bug in the Wallet app where deep linking fails on the first attempt but works on the second?
Hello everyone,
I’m currently in the process of implementing Apple Pay on my company’s e-commerce website under a subscription model with recurring payments. I would appreciate some help in clarifying the following points:
Is the applicationPrimaryAccountNumber the DPAN and the merchantTokenIdentifier the MPAN? If not, which fields represent each one or how do I recognise them?
Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram used only for processing payments with the DPAN, or is it also involved when using the MPAN?
Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram single-use or does it have an expiration time? Or is it reusable with no limits?
According to Apple’s data policies, is it recommended for our servers to perform the payment token decryption (debundling), or should this only be handled by the payment gateway processor to stay compliant?
Below is the payment request I’m using for testing, along with the decrypted payment token returned for a test card:

https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaypaymentrequest/3955945-multitokencontexts
According to this document, I know that I can initialize a multiTokenContexts when initializing ApplePayPaymentRequest.
But I am now facing a tricky problem. If the user's order does not require multiTokenContexts, then I will not initialize this field when I first make ApplePayPaymentRequest. When the user is in the payment process, I may update multiTokenContexts. But this time, the update is not allowed, ApplePay will be cancelled and the payment will be closed.
For example, if the user's address in Apple Pay is different, I need to update multiTokenContexts to support the payment of goods to multiple merchants, which will generate an update of multiTokenContexts. MultiTokenContexts can be updated in the onshippingcontactselected method.
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaysession/1778009-onshippingcontactselected
My question is that from the beginning, there was no multiTokenContexts to update multiTokenContexts in onshippingcontactselected, which would cause the user to close the payment and need to manually click to pay again.
This user experience is not very friendly. Is there a better way for me to go from no multiTokenContexts to multiTokenContexts without interrupting the user's payment process?
I developed a web app using .net c#. The app runs a workflow which included Apple payment. App can work on any browser of any device (even non-IOS).
When the app is browsed using PC windows Chrome browser, the payment sheet will show with QR code to scan using iPhone. If I cancelled the pop-up by clicking on X without scanning the code, and then returned to idle screen and performed another payment, I will reach paymentRequest.Show() but nothing will show and no errors are logged in console.
Note that:
I use Payment Request API
The issue appear on the second payment.
The issue will be solved once I refresh the page.
My app supports both single and separate pages mode and issue appear on both.
I used to see an error "Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to execute 'define' on 'CustomElementRegistry': the name apple spinner has already been used with this registry. So I thought the issue might be in loading the apple SDK script multiple times, and solved the issue to be loaded only once. The error disappeared but the issue persist without errors.
We’re attempting to call the Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API using our Platform Integrator flow and consistently receive 401 Unauthorized, despite successful TLS/mTLS.
Details:
Endpoint: https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant (POST)
Payload:
{
"domainNames": ["breakerfy.com"],
"encryptTo": "platformintegrator.ai.packman",
"partnerInternalMerchantIdentifier": "merchant.ai.packman.1",
"partnerMerchantName": "breakerfy",
"merchantUrl": "https://breakerfy.com"
}
Domain association:
URL: https://breakerfy.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
What we tried:
We created a Payment Platform Integrator ID (platformintegrator.ai.packman)
We created a CertificateSigningRequest
We used the certificate signing request to create an Apple Pay Platform Integrator Identity Certificate and downloaded the signed certificate.
We exported the Private Key from keychain access in PKCS 12 format
We converted both the private key and the signed certificate to PEM format
We created a merchant id
We used the converted keys to send requests to the API
We received {
"statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception Unauthorized",
"statusCode": "401"
}
we also tried curl with the original p12 file and also had no luck.
What could be the issue ?

Can i, personally, create .pkpass for other companies using my apple developer ID?
In order to create .pkpass, I need to create passTypIdentifier and teamIdentifier using apple developer ID
Is it okay to create those two identifiers and create coupons or membership cards for other companies?
I just wonder if it is against the law or developer guide.

Hello,
We are currently implementing iOS order verification and have encountered an issue. Some of the receipts we verify return with an empty in_app array, which makes it impossible to determine whether there is a valid in-app purchase.
Below is the code we’re using for verification and the result we receive:
Code Example:
public function iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password = '', $sandbox = false)
{
$url = $sandbox ? 'https://sandbox.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt' : 'https://buy.itunes.apple.com/verifyReceipt';
if (empty($password)) {
$data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt]);
} else {
$data = json_encode(['receipt-data' => $receipt, 'password' => $password]);
}
$ch = curl_init($url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$result = json_decode($result, true);
$result = $result ?? [];
$result['sandbox'] = $sandbox;
if ($result['status'] != 0) {
Log::warning('ios verify receipt failed', ['receipt' => $receipt, 'result' => $result, 'sandbox' => $sandbox]);
if ($result['status'] == 21007) {
return $this->iosVerifyReceipt($receipt, $password, true);
}
}
return $result;
}
// Order validation check
if (empty($result) || $result['status'] != 0) {
throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error");
}
$appItemId = $result['receipt']['app_item_id'] ?? "";
if ($appItemId != MY_APP_ID) {
throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error");
}
$inApp = array_filter($result['receipt']['in_app'] ?? [], function ($item) use ($transactionId, $order) {
return $item['transaction_id'] == $transactionId && $item['product_id'] == $order->getProductId();
});
if (empty($inApp)) {
throw new BadRequestHttpException("Ios Order Verify Error");
}

Problem Description:
• We are noticing that in some orders, the in_app array is returned as empty. This causes difficulty in verifying the presence of in-app purchases.
• Our validation logic assumes that if in_app is empty, the order is invalid, but we would like clarification on whether this is correct or if such a scenario is normal under certain conditions.
Actions Taken:
• We have reviewed Apple’s documentation and other related resources, but no clear explanation is given about when in_app might be empty.
• Can we safely rely on an empty in_app array to consider the order invalid, or should we investigate further for potential issues like delays or errors during the verification process?
We would appreciate your guidance on how to handle such cases. Thank you for your support!
Cybersource production support has clarified issue as below
"On the BAD Case, it seems that the Apple Payload did not contain the "onlinePaymentCryptogram" object within the JSON. The Cryptogram is critical and mandatory.
Since the merchant cannot really control this, and since CYBS is just decrypting the payload and uses it, we cannot comment as to why it was missing.
The merchant would need to reach out to Apple and/or decrypt the payment themselves locally to check if and why this data was not present, for troubleshooting purposes."
we are currently using the requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression API in my app. to prevent the Wallet interface from appearing when an NFC/RF reader is detected during active app usage.
Recently, a new transit card supporting Express Mode (T-money Transit Card) was released in Korea, and we are seeing an increasing number of users enabling Express Mode.
However, this has introduced an issue where users are unable to use the BLE-based functionality we provide via our widget. Specifically, when the user taps our widget, it triggers a BLE signal broadcast for approximately 10 seconds. In this scenario, when the user brings their iPhone close to our reader, Express Mode is activated before the BLE interaction can be established. This prevents the BLE signal from being successfully received and processed.
We would like to ask:
Is it possible to suppress Express Mode behavior (similar to requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression) even when the app is launched via a widget interaction?
Alternatively, is there any way to delay or defer Express Mode activation temporarily when launching from a widget or during BLE communication?
We would appreciate any guidance or best practices you can share regarding this scenario.
Thank you.

Hello,
We are experiencing an issue with Apple Pay integration in our application. We are using WKWebView to handle various payment methods, but we are unable to complete payments via Apple Pay.
Upon debugging the WKWebView, we received the following error message: "400 No required SSL certificate was sent" when attempting to process the payment.
Currently, we are using a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. Could you please confirm whether this certificate is suitable for Apple Pay, or if we should be using a different SSL certificate?

Hi, I'm developer in fintech company, we have setup process for onboarding merchants for our partner and processing payments with usage of Apple Pay API. Daily system is processing ca. 10k payments but every day ca. 100 of transactions are declined because of merchant validation error:
request to https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession (with all required parameters in body)
is returning response with status code 417
"statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception
merchantId={root merchant id}
unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of
merchantId={merchant id hash}
reason={merchant id hash} is
not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass
Enablement, either."
Issue impacts recurring merchants, most of their transactions are processed successfully but randomly some of them are failing with such reason. All prerequisites are met: merchant have deployed 'apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association' certificate, certificates are valid and not expired. Apple Support is not able to provide any information based on provided requests timestamps. We would to know what may be the reason just part of the requests are failing and what 417 error code means.

iOS 16 and earlier
On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended.
The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples:
Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button.
Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either:
Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or
Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself.
iOS 17 and later
On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element.
Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession.

Currently, on our Production environment, when calling https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSessio,n we are randomly receiving:
"Payment Services Exception merchantId={Value} unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of merchantId={Value} reason={Value} is not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass Enablement, either."
Since launching Apple Pay on our platform we have received a new Domain Verification File and looking at some of the Domain Verification File that are hosted on the domains they are different to ours.
Questions around the Domain Verification File
Would we have to update every single Domain Verification File every time we receive a new one ?
Does the paymentSession verfiy/call the Domain Verification File on the domain listed at https://[DOMAIN_NAME]/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association ?
What happens if the Domain Verification File doesnt match the one that we currently have ?
Would we have to regrester our Domains everytime we get a new Domain Verification File ?

Hello,
We are currently developing an application that uses the Host-based Card Emulation (HCE) entitlement to enable corporate access functionality. With this entitlement, we have successfully established HCE communication and can interact with our access control systems to unlock doors.
Our question is related to improving the user experience:
We would like this access functionality to work without requiring the app to be in the foreground, as this adds friction for users during entry.
Specifically, we would like to know:
Is it possible for our app to coexist with Apple Wallet as the default contactless app, so that:
Our app handles NFC interactions for corporate access (e.g., opening doors).
Apple Wallet remains the default for payments.
If that coexistence is not possible, and our app is set as the default contactless app,
Will the system still need to launch our app into the foreground to complete a transaction (e.g., to emulate the NFC card)?
Or is there a way to trigger HCE responses in the background (e.g., using a background process or service extension)?
Any guidance on how to configure the app for optimal background access behavior, while maintaining compatibility with Wallet, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
