Card provisioning not working from Apple Wallet Extension
We have developed Apple Wallet Extension for our App. The in-app provisioning for the card is working. However when we try to add the card from Wallet extension it gives error saying "Your issuer does not yet offer support for this card". From the apple documentation we can see the issues is same as mentioned in Scenario 2 at following link https://applepaydemo.apple.com/in-app-provisioning#8.4 We are getting eligibilityStatus as 0 Below is the response from Wallet captured using SysDiagnosis https://crt-pod1-smp-device.apple.com:443/broker/v4/devices/0434320BCB1A90022306073796318273728D0A367FA927F4/cards 200 Time profile: 1.77856 seconds { x-conversation-id = ...... Stability issues with Apple Pay Sandbox Cards
We are writing to report a recurring stability issue with the Apple Pay sandbox environment. We are using the official sandbox test cards provided on the Apple Developer website for our testing: https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/ We are experiencing frequent, intermittent failures when attempting to add these sandbox cards to the Wallet for testing purposes. The issue typically occurs a couple of times per day. When the failure occurs, the card provisioning process fails unexpectedly. The issue is not limited to a single card; we have observed this behavior across all available card networks. In some instances, all cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex) fail to provision simultaneously. At other times, the issue appears to be isolated to specific networks while others work correctly. Crucially, the issue appears to be temporary. After some time passes (ranging from minutes to an hour), we are able to add the exact same card successfully without making any changes to our test environment or configuration. We have diligently checked our setup to rule out configuration errors on our end. This includes verifying: The device is set to a supported region. We are signed in with a valid sandbox tester Apple ID. All other prerequisites for sandbox testing are met. The fact that the process works correctly at other times strongly suggests that this is a server-side stability issue within the Apple Pay sandbox environment rather than a persistent misconfiguration on our part. To help with your investigation, we have attached an image that demonstrates a failed attempt to add a card. Could you please investigate the stability of the sandbox card provisioning service? Please let us know if this is a known issue or if there is any further information we can provide. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. Domain Verification Failed for Apple Pay – Tried Everything
I am attempting to verify my domain https://technoq.genesistechnologies.tech for use with Apple Pay Merchant ID. However, when I attempt verification, the process fails with the message: “Domain verification failed.” Unfortunately, no additional details are provided. I have already completed the following steps: Downloaded the verification file apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt. Placed it in the .well-known directory as instructed. Confirmed that it is publicly accessible at: https://technoq.genesistechnologies.tech/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt Verified that a valid SSL certificate is configured for the domain. Could you please advise on why the verification might be failing and what additional steps I should take to resolve this issue?

HCE Permission and Background Access for Corporate NFC Integration
Hello, We are currently developing an application that uses the Host-based Card Emulation (HCE) entitlement to enable corporate access functionality. With this entitlement, we have successfully established HCE communication and can interact with our access control systems to unlock doors. Our question is related to improving the user experience: We would like this access functionality to work without requiring the app to be in the foreground, as this adds friction for users during entry. Specifically, we would like to know: Is it possible for our app to coexist with Apple Wallet as the default contactless app, so that: Our app handles NFC interactions for corporate access (e.g., opening doors). Apple Wallet remains the default for payments. If that coexistence is not possible, and our app is set as the default contactless app, Will the system still need to launch our app into the foreground to complete a transaction (e.g., to emulate the NFC card)? Or is there a way to trigger HCE responses in the background (e.g., using a background process or service extension)? Any guidance on how to configure the app for optimal background access behavior, while maintaining compatibility with Wallet, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Merchant domain verification
Hello, I'm experiencing an irregular issue with Apple Pay merchant domain verification. As you know, Apple requires domain verification every two months to maintain Apple Pay functionality. The problem is that while the verification sometimes happens automatically without any issues, other times it fails to complete, even though the required file "apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt" is correctly available on our server. When automatic verification fails, the Apple Pay service becomes non-functional on our website, forcing us to perform a manual verification to restore the pending service. Is it normal to encounter such inconsistent automatic verification processes? What could be causing these intermittent verification failures, whereas manual verification always succeed? suggesting this might not be related to IP address restrictions described on the Apple documentation. Thank you in advance,

Apple Pay Merchant Token on Web
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me From the documentation: Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request. How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token? Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference Is it possible to understand this in other ways? Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token? Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it? What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?

NFC Certificate Request for Apple Wallet Pass Rejected – Need Assistance for EV Charging Station Use Case.
Hello Apple Developer Team/Community, I am working on developing an Apple Wallet pass with NFC functionality for our electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The goal is to enable a "tap-to-start charging" feature, providing a seamless and efficient experience for users. However, my request for an NFC certificate to enable this functionality has been rejected. Here is a summary of my use case and actions taken so far: 1. Use Case: The Wallet pass will allow users to initiate charging sessions by tapping their iPhones or Apple Watches on the EV charger. This feature aims to simplify the process by eliminating the need for additional apps, physical cards, or manual inputs. It enhances accessibility and aligns with Apple’s goals of providing users with secure and convenient solutions. 2. Steps Taken: Submitted the NFC certificate request with a detailed explanation of the functionality. Included diagrams and supporting documents demonstrating the workflow and system readiness. Received a rejection without clear guidance on how to address the issue. 3. Technical Readiness: Our backend is fully prepared to support NFC passes, including secure processing of tap events and payload encryption. The Wallet pass has been configured to include the nfc field with the required encryptionPublicKey. Request for Assistance: Could you provide guidance on improving my application to meet Apple’s criteria for NFC certificates? Are there specific requirements or examples of successful NFC-enabled Wallet pass applications that I can use as a reference? If anyone has faced a similar rejection, what steps did you take to get approval? Additional Information: Use case: EV charging stations NFC functionality: Tap-to-start charging session Current implementation: Pass is functional without NFC but requires NFC for seamless operation. Any advice or resources to help resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and support. Best regards, DeveloperSquillion

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

Adding a previous card to Apple Wallet and Express Travel Enabled
We are working with a large fintech org on project connected with provisioning payment cards to Apple Wallet. When we add a previously provisioned card to the Wallet (using the Wallet UI, Add card -> Previous card). It adds the card on one device showing the Express Travel card screen after the card is added allowing the user to set the card as an express travel card during the provisioning flow but never on our other devices. All of the test devices are clean and have only the same single card provisioned. What triggers the Express Travel Card screen to be shown during the add previous card flow? (Why is it showing on one device and not another).

In-app provisioning for Apple Pay
We created apps for many credit unions in Canada. Some of those apps has the feature to directly add users' debit cards to Apple Wallet (which is called by Apple as "in-app provisioning"). The feature has been working fine for at least 6 years for many credit unions. Recently, after updating one of those existing apps, we found out that the in-app provisioning is no longer working. Found it very strange, as we didn't touch the code base related to this feature for a very long time. One thing we found out is that the option to add in-app provisioning entitlement is missing during generating "provisioning profile" for the app. Is this a misconfiguration by App? Or do we need to request for additional entitlement migration as mentioned in the page: https://developer.apple.com/help/account/reference/provisioning-with-managed-capabilities ? Apple, please help, it's rather urgent.

Scan Code like QR to pay by Apple Pay
During checkout at apple.com using a non-supported Apple Pay on the Web browser, apple.com presents a QR like code offering to "Scan Code with iPhone" to pay. The payment continues using Apple Pay on the iPhone after scan. We already offer Apple Pay and Apple Pay on the Web. Is this QR code option available for us for non-supported browsers? Could you point me to the docs to add it? Thank you.

Payment sheet will not show in second payment
I developed a web app using .net c#. The app runs a workflow which included Apple payment. App can work on any browser of any device (even non-IOS). When the app is browsed using PC windows Chrome browser, the payment sheet will show with QR code to scan using iPhone. If I cancelled the pop-up by clicking on X without scanning the code, and then returned to idle screen and performed another payment, I will reach paymentRequest.Show() but nothing will show and no errors are logged in console. Note that: I use Payment Request API The issue appear on the second payment. The issue will be solved once I refresh the page. My app supports both single and separate pages mode and issue appear on both. I used to see an error "Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to execute 'define' on 'CustomElementRegistry': the name apple spinner has already been used with this registry. So I thought the issue might be in loading the apple SDK script multiple times, and solved the issue to be loaded only once. The error disappeared but the issue persist without errors.

NotSupportedError, The payment method is not supported
What am I missing in my checking for whether or not to offer Apple Pay on my website? <script async crossorigin src="https://applepay.cdn-apple.com/jsapi/v1.1.0/apple-pay-sdk.js" ></script> ... <style> apple-pay-button { display: none; } </style> ... <apple-pay-button buttonstyle="black" type="plain" locale="en-US" onclick="startApplePay('${APPLE_PAY_MERCHANT_ID}','${paymentForm.amount}');"></apple-pay-button> So, the button is not displayed by default. I only change the style to displayed if: window.onload = function() { if (isApplePaySupported()) { document.querySelector("apple-pay-button").style.display = "inline-block"; }; } function isApplePaySupported() { return (window.PaymentRequest && window.ApplePaySession && ApplePaySession.canMakePayments() && ApplePaySession.supportsVersion(applePayVersion)); } Yet, once in a while a click comes through that tries to create a PaymentRequest with const applePayMethod = { "supportedMethods": "https://apple.com/apple-pay", "data": { "version": applePayVersion, "merchantIdentifier": merchantIdentifier, "merchantCapabilities": [ "supports3DS" ], "supportedNetworks": [ "amex", "discover", "masterCard", "visa" ], "countryCode": "US" } }; and results in: NotSupportedError, The payment method is not supported What else might be "not supported" in the request for this particular user/device/wallet? In particular, that could be known immediately when the PaymentRequest is created, but before any payment instrument from the wallet is selected? And, is there anything I could detect before showing the button? Or, is it even possible for the button to be clicked by some kind of automation, even if it's not displayed?

Format of expirationDate on Merchant Token Event
I am working on implementing merchant token notifications. When calling this endpoint https://developer.apple.com/documentation/merchanttokennotificationservices/merchant-token-event-retrieval, the result contains a CardMetadata object with an expirationDate field (see https://developer.apple.com/documentation/merchanttokennotificationservices/cardmetadata). What is the format of this field? The spec only mentions that it has a maximum length of 8 characters.

Can Apple Pay Transactions Be Integrated into a Third-Party Expense Management App?
Hello, I am developing a mobile application focused on helping users centralize and analyze their expenses. The app's key feature is to track transactions made through Apple Pay, providing users with a consolidated view of their spending across all linked bank cards or accounts. I have a few specific questions regarding the feasibility of this integration: Does Apple provide any official APIs or tools to access Apple Pay transaction data for third-party applications? Are there restrictions or guidelines for apps that aim to use Apple Pay to support expense tracking? What would be the best way to initiate a partnership or obtain further support from Apple for such a project? Your insights or direction on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and guidance! Best regards, Amine

ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?
