Inquiry about apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt Security and Access
I have a question regarding the file apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt. I understand that this file is used during API access for Apple Pay Web payments. However, is it necessary for our company to access this file during the payment process? Also, this domain validation file is expected to be placed in the publicly accessible “.well-known” folder on our web server. Is it acceptable for this file to remain readable by third parties on the Internet, including Apple’s servers, without posing any security risks? Since this file is generated during domain registration on the Apple Developer site and is unique to our domain, we believe there should be no security concerns even if accessed by third parties. However, are there any specific security requirements for this domain validation file? Please note that the domain validation has already been successfully completed. We appreciate your time and look forward to your guidance. Best regards,

Unable to Complete In-App Provisioning – Error 40456 on enable Endpoint
Hello, I am developing an Apple Pay and In-App Provisioning integration for the bank where I work. All entitlements are properly configured, and we are integrated correctly with our Payment Network Operator (PNO). We are using PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate to handle the provisioning process. The flow progresses as expected up to the Terms and Conditions screen. However, after accepting the terms, the process fails with the message: "Could not add card." Upon checking the device logs using the Wallet profile configuration, I observed the following response from Apple's backend: Response: https://nc-pod10-smp-device.apple.com:443/broker/v4/devices/041315032816900221610987313158566F368A9CEBA1291E/cards/745f792b9d0644e5a6e713d54f505296/enable 500 Time profile: 1.80458 seconds { x-conversation-id = "6ec59a63424f4035915e32f22ea645e4" Vary = "accept-language" Content-Type = "application/json" x-pod = "nc-pod10" x-keystone-correlationid = "E3DD5A5A-FD18-4500-8570-2BD1334E281C" Date = "Thu, 17 Apr 2025 07:05:03 GMT" x-apay-service-response-details = "via_upstream" Content-Length = "49" x-envoy-upstream-service-time = "964" x-pod-region = "paymentpass.com.apple" } { errorCode = 40456; statusCode = 500; } This seems to indicate that the card enablement step is failing on the server side. Our internal systems have not logged any request failure from Apple at this step, which makes it difficult to pinpoint whether the issue is in the PNO integration, entitlement configuration, or something else. We are currently testing in a production environment on a physical device (not using sandbox), and provisioning flows are initiated through our iOS app using PKAddPaymentPassRequest. Could you please help us interpret error code 40456 and identify what steps we should take to resolve this issue? If needed, we can also provide the full device log and additional details. Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards, Mansur Bagwan

Approve with Side Button' is not displayed
When accessing https://applepaydemo.apple.com/payment-request-api, the "Approve with Side Button" prompt is displayed, but it does not appear when using our test domain. I implemented the Payment Request API based on the sample source code from the following URL. On an iPhone device, the Apple Pay payment screen is displayed, but the "Approve with Side Button" icon below the amount does not appear, and instead a spinning loading icon is shown continuously. Could you please help identify the cause? ■ Reference URL: https://applepaydemo.apple.com/payment-request-api ■ Changed parameter: "merchantIdentifier": "〇〇.dev" ■ Accessed domain: 〇〇test.com ■ Test device: iPhone 13 iOS: 18.4.1

cybersource Payment Gateway not able to decrypt paymenttoken
Cybersource production support has clarified issue as below "On the BAD Case, it seems that the Apple Payload did not contain the "onlinePaymentCryptogram" object within the JSON. The Cryptogram is critical and mandatory. Since the merchant cannot really control this, and since CYBS is just decrypting the payload and uses it, we cannot comment as to why it was missing. The merchant would need to reach out to Apple and/or decrypt the payment themselves locally to check if and why this data was not present, for troubleshooting purposes."

Additional certificate problem of Apple Pay E-Commerce
Dear Apple team and developers, We integrated Apple Pay E-Commerce on our system and made successful transaction at January using following certificates. Merchant Identity Certificate (generated from our Apple developer account) Payment Processing Certificate (generated from our Apple developer account) Payment Session Server Certificate (used following command and generated from apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com:443 test URL) Command: openssl s_client -connect apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com:443 -key MIC_priv.key -cert MIC_merchant_id.pem -showcerts | openssl x509 -outform DER > apay_ident_trusted_cert_test.der Root CA G3 (Downloaded “Apple Root CA – G3 Root” from https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/ ) But at this month, we got new certificate problem (please check following) when we try to execute Apple Pay E-Commerce transaction. Certificate 'C=US,O=Apple Inc.,OU=Apple Certification Authority,CN=Apple Application Integration CA - G3' is not valid Certificate. What is this certificate? And Where can I download or generate this certificate from? Could you please advise/give us good information for this certificate problem? Best Regards, Bilguun Enkhbaatar

How does the Domain Verification Files work
Currently, on our Production environment, when calling https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSessio,n we are randomly receiving: "Payment Services Exception merchantId={Value} unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of merchantId={Value} reason={Value} is not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass Enablement, either." Since launching Apple Pay on our platform we have received a new Domain Verification File and looking at some of the Domain Verification File that are hosted on the domains they are different to ours. Questions around the Domain Verification File Would we have to update every single Domain Verification File every time we receive a new one ? Does the paymentSession verfiy/call the Domain Verification File on the domain listed at https://[DOMAIN_NAME]/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association ? What happens if the Domain Verification File doesnt match the one that we currently have ? Would we have to regrester our Domains everytime we get a new Domain Verification File ?

Default payment method option bug?
Hi team at Apple, here is a scenario we came across: The order of priority of payment methods in Apple Wallet follows: Credit Debit Apple Cash Our app displays a payment sheet that excludes credit cards. Instead of a debit card, the default payment option shown to the user on the payment sheet is Apple Cash. Is this a known issue or have we configured something wrong in our end?

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. This is our current code which works but won't get past the regulator. const applePayPaymentRequestAnnual = { countryCode: 'GB', currencyCode: 'GBP', supportedNetworks: ['visa', 'masterCard'], merchantCapabilities: ['supports3DS'], requiredBillingContactFields: ['postalAddress', 'email'], requiredShippingContactFields: ['phone'], recurringPaymentRequest: { paymentDescription: 'Annual Insurance Renewal', regularBilling: { label: 'Annual Renewal Premium', amount: price, paymentTiming: "recurring", recurringPaymentIntervalUnit: "year", recurringPaymentStartDate: year + "-" + month + "-" + day + "T00:00:00.000Z", type: 'final' }, managementURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/manage-policy', tokenNotificationURL: window.location.protocol + '//' + window.location.host + '/apple-pay-notifications' }, lineItems: [{ label: alabel, amount: price, }], total: { label: alabel, amount: price, type: "final" }, }

iOS subscription: First purchase never triggers server notifications for a new Subscription Group
Hello, I’m experiencing a strange issue with a newly created Subscription Group in my iOS app. For all my existing subscription groups, everything works perfectly — initial purchase, renewals, cancellations, all notifications arrive normally. But for this one newly created group, the first purchase never triggers any server notification from App Store Server Notifications (ASSN). ⸻ 📘 Problem Summary • I created a new Subscription Group in App Store Connect. • The products are all Approved and Published for over a week. • Users can successfully purchase the subscription in production. • The purchase is shown as Purchased in the App Store purchase UI. • The receipt can be fetched locally on device. • But my server receives no notifications, including: • DID_RENEW • DID_CHANGE_RENEWAL_STATUS • SUBSCRIBED • ONE_TIME_CHARGE • CONSUMPTION_REQUEST • etc. The old subscription groups still send notifications normally, so the notification URL and server infrastructure are correct.

How to update multiTokenContexts if ApplePayPaymentRequest does not initialize multiTokenContexts
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaypaymentrequest/3955945-multitokencontexts According to this document, I know that I can initialize a multiTokenContexts when initializing ApplePayPaymentRequest. But I am now facing a tricky problem. If the user's order does not require multiTokenContexts, then I will not initialize this field when I first make ApplePayPaymentRequest. When the user is in the payment process, I may update multiTokenContexts. But this time, the update is not allowed, ApplePay will be cancelled and the payment will be closed. For example, if the user's address in Apple Pay is different, I need to update multiTokenContexts to support the payment of goods to multiple merchants, which will generate an update of multiTokenContexts. MultiTokenContexts can be updated in the onshippingcontactselected method. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple_pay_on_the_web/applepaysession/1778009-onshippingcontactselected My question is that from the beginning, there was no multiTokenContexts to update multiTokenContexts in onshippingcontactselected, which would cause the user to close the payment and need to manually click to pay again. This user experience is not very friendly. Is there a better way for me to go from no multiTokenContexts to multiTokenContexts without interrupting the user's payment process?

Does apple make commission on payments made to peers using external processing like Stripe for physical services
So I'm wondering if Apple makes commission on those payments since they're made in the app. For example a user may pay another user to clean their car. This will be handled with Stripe Connect and their balance, payment history, etc will be displayed in the app. Does Apple charge commission on that? The section the app review guidelines that I'm refrencing is below, but I'm still a little confused. 3.1.3(e) Goods and Services Outside of the App: If your app enables people to purchase physical goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app, you must use purchase methods other than in-app purchase to collect those payments, such as Apple Pay or traditional credit card entry.

Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API
Hello, I am looking for some help on how to use the Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API. Have been approved to use the API and attempted to test on a merchant ID set up for testing. Below are steps taken before the request. Create merchant ID com.test.merchant. Create Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate for using it with the request via p12. Create Platform Integrator platformintegrator.com.test With the below request, I am getting a 401. Any input would be much appreciated! curl --cert-type P12 --cert cert.p12:{password} -i -d '{\ "domainNames":["customer.test.com"],\ "partnerMerchantName": "customer.test.com",\ "partnerInternalMerchantIdentifier":"customer.test.com"}'\ "encryptTo":"com.test.merchant",\ https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant The response: { "statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception Unauthorized", "statusCode": "401" } Also tried using the platformintegrator.com.test for the encryptTo but resulted in a 401 as well.
