This is also essential when reporting issues to Apple. To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device: Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2. Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video. Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS. Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information: The bundle IDs App bundle ID Non-UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable) The serial number of the device. For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy). For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number. Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. Issue with Test Users in Sandbox Environment Unable to Complete Payment on Apple Pay Demo Page
I am writing regarding an issue I have encountered while attempting to complete a payment using test users created within the Sandbox environment of Apple Pay. The problem persists specifically when trying to make payments through the demo page at https://applepaydemo.apple.com/. Problem Description: When initiating a payment process with either of the following test user accounts. The flow proceeds as follows: The Apple Pay window appears correctly. Processing begins but does not conclude successfully. After processing concludes, there is no prompt for 'Pay with Touch ID'. Additional Information: Device & OS Version: MacOS 15.3.2 Browser & Version: Safari 18.3.1 Real Device or Simulator: Real device used First Occurrence: Before January 1st, 2025 Custom Configurations or Backend Used: No custom configurations or backend modifications are being utilized during interaction with the demo page. How to display 3 or more billing cycles in Apple Pay JS API `recurringPaymentRequest`?
Hi, I am currently implementing a recurring payment feature using the Apple Pay JS API. Based on the official demo (https://applepaydemo.apple.com/apple-pay-js-api), it appears that the recurringPaymentRequest object only supports a maximum of two stages: trialBilling and regularBilling. However, our service requires a multi-stage billing model with three or more different cycles/amounts as shown below: Example Schedule: Stage 1: 2,000 JPY (2026-03-01 to 2026-04-01) Stage 2: 1,500 JPY (2026-04-01 to 2026-10-01) Stage 3: 1,000 JPY (2026-10-01 to 2027-10-01) Stage 4: 500 JPY (Thereafter) Questions: Is there any way to directly define and display three or more different billing cycles/amounts on the Apple Pay payment sheet? If the API is strictly limited to two stages, what is the Apple-recommended way to provide transparency for such complex schedules while remaining compliant with the guidelines? For instance, is it acceptable to set the final amount in regularBilling and explain the preceding stages in the billingAgreement or paymentDescription fields? ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

Error generating domain certificate
I’m having an issue verifying a domain for a Merchant ID. I’m implementing Apple Pay on the web for a demo, and I’ve configured the Azure server to match Apple’s requirements for domain verification, such as the TLS configuration, not requiring client certificates, and ensuring there are no redirects. I’ve run tests with OpenSSL and PowerShell and all responses return HTTP/1.1 200 OK. I also tested the URL Apple says it uses to validate the file under .well-known, and it does show the expected result. I already have the Apple Pay Payment Processing Certificate and the Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate approved; the only thing missing is the domain verification. I’m not sure what else to test—if you could help me with a possible solution, I’d really appreciate it. (The project is built in .NET 8 and hosted on Azure App Service.)

In the docs, I see a button type with label "Pay With [apple logo]. https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/apple-pay Although I don't see this type as an option here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/PassKit/PKPaymentButtonType Wondering if I'm looking in the right place and if this button type is still available?

Implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in a WKWebView app
We are developing a native iOS financial application called Tradu: Stocks, Forex, and CFDs (Apple ID: 6473443264), which embeds a WKWebView to render all user-facing logic. All user interactions—including authentication with MFA—occur inside this WKWebView. To access native functionality, we use postMessage() to communicate between the web and native layers. This approach has worked successfully for biometric authentication, for example. We are currently integrating Apple Pay In-App Provisioning and have a few questions regarding compliance with the documentation provided by our Issuer Host (Modulr). In the document titled Getting Started with Apple Pay: In-App Provisioning, Verification, Security, and Wallet Extensions (Version 4.0, February 2023), all examples are based on a fully native application. We’ve managed to integrate most of the In-App Provisioning flow via postMessage() up to the point of passing encryptedData to the Payment View. Apple Pay button inside WKWebView In Section 7: Frontend Overview, the user initiates the provisioning by tapping a native PKPaymentButton (SwiftUI example). In our case, this button is rendered inside the WKWebView, styled according to the Apple Style Guide. While the document references this approach as a “raw mark text supplement,” is this method acceptable and compliant with Apple’s UX and technical guidelines? MFA requirement before provisioning In Section 4: Security Guidelines, it is stated that the user must have passed MFA at least once before starting the provisioning flow. In our implementation, users must complete MFA on every login (including on recognized devices) before the provisioning UI becomes available. Even though this is not tied specifically to “unrecognized devices,” is our MFA requirement sufficient to satisfy Section 4.2? Summary: Is using a web-rendered Apple Pay button inside WKWebView (instead of a native PKPaymentButton) considered compliant? Is our MFA enforcement model (required on every login) aligned with the security requirements outlined in Section 4.2 of the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning documentation?

Apple Pay Domain Verification: .txt Extension Confusion
Hi all, I’m running into a confusing issue with Apple Pay domain verification. Apple’s documentation says to host the verification file at: https://yourdomain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association And the portal itself seems to expect the file to be served with .txt extension during verification. My first verification passed, but subsequent checks are failing — and I’m wondering if this mismatch is the cause. Should I Keep the .txt and configure my server to serve it at both paths? Would appreciate any insights or official clarification. Thanks!

Hi , This is regarding the ApplePayRecurringPayment Request and Apple Pay on Web functionality. Does Apple Pay on web providing functionality that collects payments from the stored credit card issuer bank (or) it only provides secured wallet functionality that provides a token which then has to be utilized to send a seperate payment request through a third party payment gateway to collect the payments from the credit card issuer bank. thanks

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. Apple Pay Pass Verify same card on Apple Watch App and Wallet Iphone
Hi Guys, I am having an issue verifying a card when it is pending verification in the Apple Watch Wallet App and the iPhone Wallet. When the user verifies the card in the wallets, they are redirected to verification in my APP. However, the problem is that I don't know which application is calling, whether it is the Apple Watch or the iPhone, because the URL sends me the same serialNumber from the PKPASS. It is impossible to know if the user wants to verify and activate the card on the watch or the iPhone. Because I only receive the following information in the URL: myapp://app-url? passTypeldentifier=paymentpass.com.apple&action =verify&serialNumber=***** The serialNumber is the same from the iPhone Wallet and the Watch Wallet. func application(_ app: UIApplication, open url: URL, options: [UIApplication.OpenURLOptionsKey : Any] = [:]) -> Bool { let source = options[.sourceApplication] I try to retrieve the source, but it comes back null. Issue With Apple Pay Express
We are facing an issue with Apple Pay address details while customers are placing orders on our production site. By default, the following values are being passed during checkout: First Name: ApplePay Last Name: Express Address: ApplePay Street When we manually enter these same details, our validation correctly prevents the order from being placed and displays an appropriate error message. However, on our production site, real customers are still able to successfully place orders with these exact details. Could you please help us understand: How these orders are being allowed to proceed despite the validation? Is this behaviour expected from Apple Pay ? How can we prevent orders from being placed with such placeholder address details? Please let us know if you need any additional information from our side. DPAN, MPAN, Cryptogram and Compliance
Hello everyone, I’m currently in the process of implementing Apple Pay on my company’s e-commerce website under a subscription model with recurring payments. I would appreciate some help in clarifying the following points: Is the applicationPrimaryAccountNumber the DPAN and the merchantTokenIdentifier the MPAN? If not, which fields represent each one or how do I recognise them? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram used only for processing payments with the DPAN, or is it also involved when using the MPAN? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram single-use or does it have an expiration time? Or is it reusable with no limits? According to Apple’s data policies, is it recommended for our servers to perform the payment token decryption (debundling), or should this only be handled by the payment gateway processor to stay compliant? Unable to enable Apple Pay for App Clip – “relationship 'undefined'” error when adding capability
Hey everyone, hoping someone here has run into this before. I have a fully functional App Clip (com.didyoucatchit.app.Clip) linked to my main app (com.didyoucatchit.app). The Clip builds and runs perfectly, but I’m seeing issues trying to enable Apple Pay for it. When I try to link my Merchant ID under the “On Demand Install Capable” capability in the Apple Developer portal, I get this error: A relationship in the provided entity is not allowed for this request. The relationship 'undefined' can not be included in a 'bundleIdCapabilities' request. Domain Verification and applePayCapabilities
We have verified our domain but if the file is removed from the deployed site after verification will this impact using ApplePaySession.applePayCapabilities in real time? We use that method from the JS api in our React app to determine whether or not to show the apple pay button. When that function is called in the browser, do the apple servers ping the https://our.domain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association URL at that time? Or do they check for it periodically? The reason for asking is that with our many environments we wonder if we can verify each environment's domain by adding the file once. The file will be wiped out by our CICD process as it goes up the environment stack through our development workflow. Or do we need to maintain that file for each environment and add something to our build process?

Apple Pay Signature Validation Fails
I'm currently integrating Apple Pay with my payment provider, and I'm encountering a signature validation error during the payment flow. Here's the setup: I’ve verified that my Merchant Certificate is valid, and I'm able to initialize the Apple Pay session without any issues. Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. Issue with Test Users in Sandbox Environment Unable to Complete Payment on Apple Pay Demo Page
I am writing regarding an issue I have encountered while attempting to complete a payment using test users created within the Sandbox environment of Apple Pay. The problem persists specifically when trying to make payments through the demo page at https://applepaydemo.apple.com/. Problem Description: When initiating a payment process with either of the following test user accounts. The flow proceeds as follows: The Apple Pay window appears correctly. Processing begins but does not conclude successfully. After processing concludes, there is no prompt for 'Pay with Touch ID'. How to display 3 or more billing cycles in Apple Pay JS API `recurringPaymentRequest`?
Hi, I am currently implementing a recurring payment feature using the Apple Pay JS API. Based on the official demo (https://applepaydemo.apple.com/apple-pay-js-api), it appears that the recurringPaymentRequest object only supports a maximum of two stages: trialBilling and regularBilling. However, our service requires a multi-stage billing model with three or more different cycles/amounts as shown below: Example Schedule: Stage 1: 2,000 JPY (2026-03-01 to 2026-04-01) Stage 2: 1,500 JPY (2026-04-01 to 2026-10-01) Stage 3: 1,000 JPY (2026-10-01 to 2027-10-01) Stage 4: 500 JPY (Thereafter) Questions: Is there any way to directly define and display three or more different billing cycles/amounts on the Apple Pay payment sheet? If the API is strictly limited to two stages, what is the Apple-recommended way to provide transparency for such complex schedules while remaining compliant with the guidelines? For instance, is it acceptable to set the final amount in regularBilling and explain the preceding stages in the billingAgreement or paymentDescription fields? However, we've noticed that occasionally the onlinePaymentCryptogram returned in the paymentData contains spaces, causing it to be rejected by acquirers. Has anyone else encountered this issue? ApplePay: Flexible payments/scheduling
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time. The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

Error generating domain certificate
I’m having an issue verifying a domain for a Merchant ID. I’m implementing Apple Pay on the web for a demo, and I’ve configured the Azure server to match Apple’s requirements for domain verification, such as the TLS configuration, not requiring client certificates, and ensuring there are no redirects. I’ve run tests with OpenSSL and PowerShell and all responses return HTTP/1.1 200 OK. I also tested the URL Apple says it uses to validate the file under .well-known, and it does show the expected result. I already have the Apple Pay Payment Processing Certificate and the Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate approved; the only thing missing is the domain verification. I’m not sure what else to test—if you could help me with a possible solution, I’d really appreciate it. (The project is built in .NET 8 and hosted on Azure App Service.)

Implementing Apple Pay In-App Provisioning in a WKWebView app
We are developing a native iOS financial application called Tradu: Stocks, Forex, and CFDs (Apple ID: 6473443264), which embeds a WKWebView to render all user-facing logic. All user interactions—including authentication with MFA—occur inside this WKWebView. To access native functionality, we use postMessage() to communicate between the web and native layers. This approach has worked successfully for biometric authentication, for example. We are currently integrating Apple Pay In-App Provisioning and have a few questions regarding compliance with the documentation provided by our Issuer Host (Modulr). In the document titled Getting Started with Apple Pay: In-App Provisioning, Verification, Security, and Wallet Extensions (Version 4.0, February 2023), all examples are based on a fully native application. We’ve managed to integrate most of the In-App Provisioning flow via postMessage() up to the point of passing encryptedData to the Payment View. Apple Pay button inside WKWebView In Section 7: Frontend Overview, the user initiates the provisioning by tapping a native PKPaymentButton (SwiftUI example). In our case, this button is rendered inside the WKWebView, styled according to the Apple Style Guide. While the document references this approach as a “raw mark text supplement,” is this method acceptable and compliant with Apple’s UX and technical guidelines? MFA requirement before provisioning In Section 4: Security Guidelines, it is stated that the user must have passed MFA at least once before starting the provisioning flow. In our implementation, users must complete MFA on every login (including on recognized devices) before the provisioning UI becomes available. Even though this is not tied specifically to “unrecognized devices,” is our MFA requirement sufficient to satisfy Section 4.2? Summary: Is using a web-rendered Apple Pay button inside WKWebView (instead of a native PKPaymentButton) considered compliant? Is our MFA enforcement model (required on every login) aligned with the security requirements outlined in Section 4.2 of the Apple Pay In-App Provisioning documentation?

Apple Pay Domain Verification: .txt Extension Confusion
Hi all, I’m running into a confusing issue with Apple Pay domain verification. Apple’s documentation says to host the verification file at: https://yourdomain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association And the portal itself seems to expect the file to be served with .txt extension during verification. My first verification passed, but subsequent checks are failing — and I’m wondering if this mismatch is the cause. Should I Keep the .txt and configure my server to serve it at both paths? Does Apple Pay on web providing functionality that collects payments from the stored credit card issuer bank (or) it only provides secured wallet functionality that provides a token which then has to be utilized to send a seperate payment request through a third party payment gateway to collect the payments from the credit card issuer bank. thanks

Apple Pay on the Web for Insurance Renewals
Our company sells insurance and we'd like to offer annual renewals via Apple Pay on the Web. Most of the docs seem to point towards using recurringpaymentrequest but this method required an amount value which would only be calculated at renewal time. It appears that Shopify is doing something akin to what we want where they do auto payments so my question is can we do annual payments with unknown renewal prices with Apple Pay for Web ? What we cannot do is show the renewal price like this as it being insurance is almost certain to change. Apple Pay Pass Verify same card on Apple Watch App and Wallet Iphone
Hi Guys, I am having an issue verifying a card when it is pending verification in the Apple Watch Wallet App and the iPhone Wallet. When the user verifies the card in the wallets, they are redirected to verification in my APP. However, the problem is that I don't know which application is calling, whether it is the Apple Watch or the iPhone, because the URL sends me the same serialNumber from the PKPASS. It is impossible to know if the user wants to verify and activate the card on the watch or the iPhone. Because I only receive the following information in the URL: myapp://app-url? passTypeldentifier=paymentpass.com.apple&action =verify&serialNumber=***** The serialNumber is the same from the iPhone Wallet and the Watch Wallet. func application(_ app: UIApplication, open url: URL, options: [UIApplication.OpenURLOptionsKey : Any] = [:]) -> Bool { let source = options[.sourceApplication] I try to retrieve the source, but it comes back null. Issue With Apple Pay Express
We are facing an issue with Apple Pay address details while customers are placing orders on our production site. By default, the following values are being passed during checkout: First Name: ApplePay Last Name: Express Address: ApplePay Street When we manually enter these same details, our validation correctly prevents the order from being placed and displays an appropriate error message. However, on our production site, real customers are still able to successfully place orders with these exact details. Could you please help us understand: How these orders are being allowed to proceed despite the validation? Is this behaviour expected from Apple Pay ? How can we prevent orders from being placed with such placeholder address details? Please let us know if you need any additional information from our side. DPAN, MPAN, Cryptogram and Compliance
Hello everyone, I’m currently in the process of implementing Apple Pay on my company’s e-commerce website under a subscription model with recurring payments. I would appreciate some help in clarifying the following points: Is the applicationPrimaryAccountNumber the DPAN and the merchantTokenIdentifier the MPAN? If not, which fields represent each one or how do I recognise them? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram used only for processing payments with the DPAN, or is it also involved when using the MPAN? Is the onlinePaymentCryptogram single-use or does it have an expiration time? Or is it reusable with no limits? According to Apple’s data policies, is it recommended for our servers to perform the payment token decryption (debundling), or should this only be handled by the payment gateway processor to stay compliant? Unable to enable Apple Pay for App Clip – “relationship 'undefined'” error when adding capability
Hey everyone, hoping someone here has run into this before. I have a fully functional App Clip (com.didyoucatchit.app.Clip) linked to my main app (com.didyoucatchit.app). The Clip builds and runs perfectly, but I’m seeing issues trying to enable Apple Pay for it. When I try to link my Merchant ID under the “On Demand Install Capable” capability in the Apple Developer portal, I get this error: A relationship in the provided entity is not allowed for this request. The relationship 'undefined' can not be included in a 'bundleIdCapabilities' request. Domain Verification and applePayCapabilities
We have verified our domain but if the file is removed from the deployed site after verification will this impact using ApplePaySession.applePayCapabilities in real time? We use that method from the JS api in our React app to determine whether or not to show the apple pay button. When that function is called in the browser, do the apple servers ping the https://our.domain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association URL at that time? Or do they check for it periodically? The reason for asking is that with our many environments we wonder if we can verify each environment's domain by adding the file once. The file will be wiped out by our CICD process as it goes up the environment stack through our development workflow. Or do we need to maintain that file for each environment and add something to our build process?

Apple Pay Signature Validation Fails
I'm currently integrating Apple Pay with my payment provider, and I'm encountering a signature validation error during the payment flow. Here's the setup: I’ve verified that my Merchant Certificate is valid, and I'm able to initialize the Apple Pay session without any issues. Also this curl works fine The Payment Processing Certificate was created by my PSP. PSP claims that the payment token signature is invalid during the transaction phase, which prevents payment completion.
