Notification Delivery Issues for Location Push Service Extension
We are currently testing the implementation of our Location Push Service Extension (LPSE) in both Ad Hoc and Release environments. We have encountered an issue where LPSE notifications, which were previously working correctly, suddenly fail to be delivered on some devices. After a period of several hours, the notifications resume arriving, but the issue remains intermittent. Notably, during these periods of suspected delivery restriction, regular push notifications (e.g., those using apns-push-type: alert) are delivered and displayed without any problem. [Detailed Situation] Test Environment and Scope We are testing LPSE after obtaining the necessary entitlements, in both Ad Hoc and Release environments. The issue is not observed on all test devices; only certain devices are affected. Observed Behavior Under normal circumstances, LPSE notifications are received and the extension is activated; however, on some devices the notifications suddenly stop arriving. During these periods, even when sending notifications with apns-push-type: location directly via the CloudKit Push Notification Console, no response is observed on the affected devices. The APNs server (api.push.apple.com) always returns a 200 OK response via HTTP/2, and our server-side logs and configurations (DNS resolution performed on every request, using the same JWT token for 59 minutes per session, communication via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2) show no issues. Other app functionalities (network communication, UI responsiveness, etc.) work normally. Sending content When sending notifications from our server to APNs (api.push.apple.com), we use the following configuration (over HTTP/2): const payload = { aps: { 'content-available': 1 } }; const headers = { ':method': 'POST', ':path': /3/device/${apnsToken}, 'Authorization': bearer ${jwtToken}, 'apns-topic': 'ot.Here.location-query', 'apns-priority': '10', 'apns-push-type': 'location', 'Content-Type': 'application/json' }; We perform DNS resolution for every request, use the same JWT token for a 59-minute period per session, and communicate via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2. Hypothesis on the Cause We suspect that due to an implementation issue, silent push notifications (using content-available: 1) were being sent every few minutes concurrently, which may have triggered an APNs delivery restriction (rate limiting). As a countermeasure, we have completely stopped sending silent pushes and any other background notifications aside from LPSE; however, the issue persists. Additionally, even after resetting affected devices, the delivery problem continues to occur. [Questions for Diagnosis] Given the above situation, is it reasonable to suspect that excessive silent push notifications have triggered an APNs delivery restriction? Does such a silent push restriction affect LPSE notifications (i.e., those sent with apns-push-type: location)? Do APNs delivery restrictions persist even after a device has been reset? Can a high volume of LPSE notifications alone (without silent pushes) also trigger a delivery restriction? → This is our primary concern since it poses a significant implementation challenge. Please let us know if any additional information is required for diagnosis.

Bluetooth

PTT Framework has compatibility issue with .voiceChat AVAudioSession mode
As I've mentioned before our app uses PTT Framework to record and send audio messages. In one of supported by app mode we are using WebRTC.org library for that purpose. Internally WebRTC.org library uses Voice-Processing I/O Unit (kAudioUnitSubType_VoiceProcessingIO subtype) to retrieve audio from mic. According to https://developer.apple.com/documentation/avfaudio/avaudiosession/mode-swift.struct/voicechat using Voice-Processing I/O Unit leads to implicit enabling .voiceChat AVAudioSession mode (i.e. it looks like it's not possible to use Voice-Processing I/O Unit without .voiceChat mode). And problem is following: when user starts outgoing PTT, PTT Framework plays audio notification, but in case of enabled .voiceChat mode that sound is playing distorted or not playing at all. Questions: Is it known issue? Is there any way to workaround it?

BGProcessingTask File Upload Limits
I have BGProcessingTask & BGAppRefreshTask working fine. The main purpose of my use of BGProcessingTask is to upload a file to AWS S3 using multipart/form-data. I have found that any file above about 2.5MB times out after running almost four minutes. If I run the same RESTful api using curl or Postman, I can upload a 25MB file in 3 seconds or less. I have tried to deliberately set .earliestBeginDate to 01:00 or 02:00 local time on the iPhone, but that does not seem to help. I use the delegate (yes, I am writing in Objective C) - URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend: and find that the iOS system uploads about 140kB every 15 seconds or so. I am looking for recommendations or insight into how I might enable uploads of 25MB files. I would be happy it I could do just one a day for my use case. I provide code on how I set up the NSURLSession and NSURLSessionDownloadTask, as it is my guess that if there is something that needs to be modified it is there. I have to believe there is a solution for this since I read in many posts here and in StackOverflow how developers are using this functionality for uploading many, many files. NSURLSessionConfiguration *sConf = [NSURLSessionConfiguration backgroundSessionConfigurationWithIdentifier:bkto.taskIdentifier]; sConf.URLCache = [NSURLCache sharedURLCache]; sConf.waitsForConnectivity = YES; sConf.allowsCellularAccess = NO; sConf.networkServiceType = NSURLNetworkServiceTypeVideot; sConf.multipathServiceType = NSURLSessionMultipathServiceTypeNone; sConf.discretionary = YES; sConf.timeoutIntervalForResource = kONEHOURINTERVAL; sConf.timeoutIntervalForRequest = kONEMINUTEINTERVAL; sConf.allowsExpensiveNetworkAccess = NO ; sConf.allowsConstrainedNetworkAccess = NO; sConf.sessionSendsLaunchEvents = YES; myURLSession = [NSURLSession sessionWithConfiguration:sConf delegate:self delegateQueue:nil]; And then later in the code... NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:pth]]; request.HTTPMethod = kHTTPPOST; request.HTTPBody = [NSData my body data]; request.timeoutInterval = 60; [request setValue:@"*/*" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Accept"]; [request setValue:@"en-us,en" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Accept-Language"]; [request setValue:@"gzip, deflate, br" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Accept-Encoding"]; [request setValue:@"ISO-8859-1,utf-8" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Accept-Charset"]; [request setValue:@"600" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Keep-Alive"]; [request setValue:@"keep-alive" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Connection"]; NSString *contType = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"multipart/form-data; boundary=%@",bnd]; [request setValue:contType forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [request addValue:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%lu",(unsigned long)myData.length] forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; and here are a few lines from my logs to show the infrequent multi-part uploads of only small chunks of data by the iOS system: -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: bytesSent = 393,216 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: totalBytesSent = 393,216 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: task = BackgroundDownloadTask <76A81A80-4703-4686-8742-A0048EB65108>.<2>, time Fri Mar 7 16:25:27 2025 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: bytesSent = 131,072 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: totalBytesSent = 524,288 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: task = BackgroundDownloadTask <76A81A80-4703-4686-8742-A0048EB65108>.<2>, time Fri Mar 7 16:25:42 2025 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: bytesSent = 131,072 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: totalBytesSent = 655,360 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: task = BackgroundDownloadTask <76A81A80-4703-4686-8742-A0048EB65108>.<2>, time Fri Mar 7 16:25:56 2025 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: bytesSent = 131,072 -[BKSessionManager URLSession:task:didSendBodyData:totalBytesSent:totalBytesExpectedToSend:]: totalBytesSent = 786,432

Which IOUserClient entitlements are really required?

@Query with Set
How do I filter data using @Query with a Set of DateComponents? I successfully saved multiple dates using a MultiDatePicker in AddView.swift. In ListView.swift, I want to retrieve all records for the current or today’s date. There are hundreds of examples using @Query with strings and dates, but I haven’t found an example of @Query using a Set of DateComponents Nothing will compile and after hundreds and hundreds of attempts, my hair is turning gray. Please, please, please help me. For example, if the current date is Tuesday, March 4 205, then I want to retrieve both records. Since both records contain Tuesday, March 4, then retrieve both records. Sorting works fine because the order by clause uses period which is a Double. Unfortunately, my syntax is incorrect and I don’t know the correct predicate syntax for @Query and a Set of DateComponents. Class Planner.swift file import SwiftUI import SwiftData
@Model class Planner { //var id: UUID = UUID() var grade: Double = 4.0 var kumi: Double = 4.0 var period: Double = 1.0 var dates: Set<DateComponents> = [] init( grade: Double = 4.0, kumi: Double = 4.0, period: Double = 1.0, dates: Set<DateComponents> = [] ) { self.grade = grade self.kumi = kumi self.period = period self.dates = dates
} } @Query Model snippet of code does not work The compile error is to use a Set of DateComponents, not just DateComponents. @Query(filter: #Predicate<Planner> { $0.dates = DateComponents(calendar: Calendar.current, year: 2025, month: 3, day: 4)}, sort: [SortDescriptor(\Planner.period)]) var planner: [Planner] ListView.swift image EditView.swift for record #1 DB Browser for SQLlite: record #1 (March 6, 2025 and March 4, 2025)

Applications Scripts denied
Hi all, I'm developing a sandboxed Mac OS app that generates and compiles AppleScript files to automate tasks in Pages (and other iWork apps). The app creates an AppleScript file and writes it to the NSApplicationScriptsDirectory (i.e., ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.example.app), then compiles and executes it via NSUserAppleScriptTask. On Mac OS Ventura, however, I get the following error in the console when trying to write the file: [PagesModifier] Error creating or compiling the script: You are not allowed to save the file "PagesModifier_...applescript" in the folder "com.example.app" Here are my current entitlements: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>com.apple.security.app-sandbox</key> <true/> <key>com.apple.security.application-groups</key> <array/> <key>com.apple.security.automation.apple-events</key> <array> <string>com.apple.iWork.Pages</string> <string>com.apple.iWork.Numbers</string> <string>com.apple.iWork.Keynote</string> </array> <key>com.apple.security.files.user-selected.read-write</key> <true/> <key>com.apple.security.scripting-targets</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.iWork.Keynote</key> <array> <string>com.apple.iWork.Keynote</string> </array> <key>com.apple.iWork.Numbers</key> <array> <string>com.apple.iWork.Numbers</string> </array> <key>com.apple.iWork.Pages</key> <array> <string>com.apple.iWork.Pages</string> </array> </dict> <key>com.apple.security.temporary-exception.apple-events</key> <array> <string>com.apple.iWork.Pages</string> <string>com.apple.iWork.Numbers</string> <string>com.apple.iWork.Keynote</string> </array> <key>com.apple.security.temporary-exception.files.home-relative-path.read-write</key> <array> <string>Library/Application Scripts/com.example.app</string> </array> </dict> </plist> I suspect the issue might be due to sandbox restrictions on dynamically creating or modifying the Application Scripts directory on Ventura. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on how to work around this? Thanks in advance for your help!

NSUserActivity in application(_:continue:restorationHandler:) not recognized as INStartCallIntent
Hello, experts! I'm working on a VOIP application that handles audio calls and integrates with CallKit. The problem occurs when attempting to redial a previously made audio call from the system's call history. When I try to handle the NSUserActivity in the application(_:continue:restorationHandler:) method, it intercepts the INStartAudioCallIntent instead of the expected INStartCallIntent. Background Deprecation Warnings: I'm encountering deprecation warnings when using INStartAudioCallIntent and INStartVideoCallIntent: 'INStartAudioCallIntent' was deprecated in iOS 13.0: INStartAudioCallIntent is deprecated. Please adopt INStartCallIntent instead. 'INStartVideoCallIntent' was deprecated in iOS 13.0: INStartVideoCallIntent is deprecated. Please adopt INStartCallIntent instead. As a result, I need to migrate to INStartCallIntent instead, but the issue is that when trying to redial a call from the system’s call history, INStartAudioCallIntent is still being triggered. Working with Deprecated Intents: If I use INStartAudioCallIntent or INStartVideoCallIntent, everything works as expected, but I want to adopt INStartCallIntent to align with the current iOS recommendations. Configuration: CXProvider Configuration: The CXProvider is configured as follows: let configuration = CXProviderConfiguration() configuration.supportsVideo = true configuration.maximumCallsPerCallGroup = 1 configuration.maximumCallGroups = 1 configuration.supportedHandleTypes = [.generic] configuration.iconTemplateImageData = UIImage(asset: .callKitLogo)?.pngData() let provider = CXProvider(configuration: configuration) Outgoing Call Handle: When making an outgoing call, the CXHandle is created like this: let handle = CXHandle(type: .generic, value: callId) Info.plist Configuration: In the info.plist, the following key is defined: <key>NSUserActivityTypes</key> <array> <string>INStartCallIntent</string> </array> Problem: When trying to redial the audio call from the system's call history, the NSUserActivity received in the application(_:continue:restorationHandler:) method is an instance of INStartAudioCallIntent instead of INStartCallIntent. This happens even though INStartCallIntent is listed in NSUserActivityTypes in the info.plist and I want to migrate to the newer intent as recommended in iOS 13+. Device: iPhone 13 mini iOS version 17.6.1

Retrieve Only the Certificates Presented by the Server
Is it possible using the network framework to retrieve the list of certificates presented by the host alone, and not the reconstructed chain assembled by the system? For example, in OpenSSL one can call SSL_get_peer_cert_chain which will return exactly this - a list of the certificates presented by the server. This is useful for when you may want to manually reconstruct the chain, or if the server is misconfigured (for example, is missing an intermediate cert). Is something like this possible with the network framework? If I connect to a host that I know only returns 1 certificate, the trust ref already has the reconstructed chain by the time my code is called: sec_protocol_options_set_verify_block(tlsOptions.securityProtocolOptions, { metadata, trustRef, verifyComplete in let trust = sec_trust_copy_ref(trustRef).takeRetainedValue() let numberOfCertificates = SecTrustGetCertificateCount(trust) // Returns 3 even though the server only sent 1

DNS duration 4294893875545978
When I use NSURLSessionTaskTransactionMetrics property domainLookupStartDate and domainLookupEndDate to calculate the duration of DNS, sometimes I get 4294893875545978 or -4294893875545978 return method like this [NSNumber numberWithLongLong:[taskMetrics.domainLookupEndDate timeIntervalSinceDate:taskMetrics.domainLookupStartDate?]*1000000000] The hexadecimal value of 4294893875545978 is 0xF3F3F3F3F3F3A. Is 4294893875545978 a special value?

Present specific screen for configured default contactless app after double tap on side button in the iPhone ?
I have implemented the functionality to open my app when double-tapping the side button on an iPhone. However, whenever I double-tap the side button, my app always opens on the login screen. Instead of this default behavior, I want my app to navigate directly to a specific view when launched through the side button action. I am using SwiftUI and have already integrated HCE (Host Card Emulation) entitlements and also configured with contactless payment. How can I achieve this behaviour so that my app opens a specific screen instead of always showing the login page? Any guidance on handling this within SwiftUI would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Local Network Permissions - launchd service running as non-root user
Hello, Title states it basically. I have a java program (launched via shell script) running as a service using launchd which is running as a user (not root) and it does not request Local Network permissions ever. I feel like i'm missing something here. I combed through all of the Local Network FAQs and don't really see this use case addressed. I do see that there is an open ticket for an API to trigger the request, but no update on that and the ticket is not visible publicly. Is there is a way to accomplish this for java or other programs running via launchd with a user other than root? something like an entitlement or an API to seed the permission of Local Network when installing the service via launchctl etc?

Present a pass in wallet
We requested the com.apple.developer.passkit.pass-presentation-suppression entitlement in our app to suppress the Apple Pay popup when our app is near a reader. This entitlement was approved by Apple and successfully suppresses Apple Pay popups when approaching readers. Currently, we have another use case in the same app: presenting a PKPass (our door key pass) by calling the Wallet from our code using passLibrary.present(pass.secureElementPass!). This should take us to the Wallet and display our pass. This functionality works perfectly in other environments where this entitlement is not in place. We now understand that this entitlement suppresses all passes from our app. Our questions are: How can we suppress the Apple Pay popup while displaying our app key against a reader and also present the pass in the Wallet? Both requirements are essentially the same but implemented in two different ways, and we need both functionalities. Presenting the pass through a URL is not a viable option for us according to our standards. (https://developer.apple.com/forums/content/attachment/c2542a51-fd2c-42ce-88a2-207689b31159)

Hello @all I'm develop a DriverKit driver extension and without entitlement checks by OS everything runs fine. @Query with Set
@Model class Planner { //var id: UUID = UUID() var grade: Double = 4.0 var kumi: Double = 4.0 var period: Double = 1.0 var dates: Set<DateComponents> = [] init( grade: Double = 4.0, kumi: Double = 4.0, period: Double = 1.0, dates: Set<DateComponents> = [] ) { self.grade = grade self.kumi = kumi self.period = period self.dates = dates
