iOS support for SCSI and NVME commands.
We have a macOS application which interacts with our USB and PCI devices to perform SCSI and NVME commands on them. We use IOUSBHost, IOUSBLib and IOKitLib for USB interface and have created a custom driver to interact with PCI devices. Is there a way we can implement a similar functionality for iOS as well if we connect the cards and readers using OTG?

iOS in-app purchasing in Unity app
Hi everyone, I am working on a Unity iOS app. I am adding in-app purchasing in my app. I have added Unity IAP to the Unity project, as well as the code for initialising and purchasing a subscription with the product ID. I have also added my certificates and provisioning profile in Xcode with in-app purchasing capabilities. Also, I have set up an App Store Connect page with a non-renewing subscription with a unique product ID and all required information. The subscription status is ready to submit. I have added a sandbox tester account in it. In unity editor, it is working fine with fake purchase receipt. While testing in an iOS device, apple ID is logged out. But there is an error occurs everytime : IAP not initialized. Also I have uploaded a newer version of app on app store connect, it is in waiting for review status. Is there any step or something I am missing that it is not working in iOS device? Please help

Sandbox Testing Issue: 'Submit for Review' Button Missing for Subscription IAPSubmit
Hello Developers! I am trying to run a test In-App Purchase (IAP) for a renewable subscription product in the sandbox environment. I have set up everything required for sandbox testing, but it’s unclear whether the subscription product needs to be pre-approved by Apple for testing. If approval is required, I have already added the necessary metadata, but the status still shows "Ready for Submit." Additionally, when I save the page, a "Submit for Review" button briefly appears for a fraction of a second on the subscription page before disappearing. Is this button missing, or is there a known issue with this process? This is my first time running this test, and I would appreciate any pointers or suggestions. Thanks!

External Link Account Modal language
Hi All, We are developing our app with an approved External Link Account Entitlement. During the development process (such as installing from Xcode or creating an Ad-hoc build and installing it on a phone), the open() function of the External Link Account API displays the modal our native language. The app only localized to that language. However, after uploading the app with the same configuration to TestFlight, the modal somehow appears in English instead. What could be causing this issue with the External Link Account modal? How can the open() function display the modal in another language when installed from Xcode or an Ad-hoc release build, but in English when installed from TestFlight? How can we show only our native lanugage version only to our Users? Thank you in advance

Has HealthKit Changed GPS Standards in iOS 18.4 Beta 4?
I am a developer from mainland China. Today, I noticed that the HKWorkoutRoute data stored by my app in HealthKit shows significant discrepancies when viewed on the workout route map in the Health and Fitness apps on iOS 18.4. Instead of displaying the actual movement path, the route appears to be offset by several hundred meters. I collected this data using my app on watchOS 11.3.1, and all CLLocation data comes directly from Core Location. I did not convert WGS84 standard data to GCJ02. Reviewing historical data, all workout routes before March 17, 2025, appear correct, but every record after that date exhibits the offset issue.

Purchase information for users with multiple original transaction IDs
We are currently performing maintenance and operation on our app. I would like to ask a question about Apple's purchase processing. When retrieving purchase information for a user who has multiple original transaction IDs, such as original transaction ID AAA and original transaction ID BBB, if "Get All Subscription Statues" is executed with BBB as an argument, is it possible that purchase information for original transaction ID "AAA" will be retrieved? If this kind of issue does occur, please share the conditions under which it occurs.

On Host Names
For important background information, read Extra-ordinary Networking before reading this. Share and Enjoy — Quinn “The Eskimo!” @ Developer Technical Support @ Apple let myEmail = "eskimo" + "1" + "@" + "apple.com" On Host Names I commonly see questions like How do I get the device’s host name? This question doesn’t make sense without more context. Apple systems have a variety of things that you might consider to be the host name: The user-assigned device name — This is a user-visible value, for example, Guy Smiley. People set this in Settings > General > About > Name. The local host name — This is a DNS name used by Bonjour, for example, guy-smiley.local. By default this is algorithmically derived from the user-assigned device name. On macOS, people can override this in Settings > General > Sharing > Local hostname. The reverse DNS name associated with the various IP addresses assigned to the device’s various network interfaces That last one is pretty much useless. You can’t get a single host name because there isn’t a single IP address. For more on that, see Don’t Try to Get the Device’s IP Address. The other two have well-defined answers, although those answers vary by platform. I’ll talk more about that below. Before getting to that, however, let’s look at the big picture. Big Picture The use cases for the user-assigned device name are pretty clear. I rarely see folks confused about that. Another use case for this stuff is that you’ve started a server and you want to tell the user how to connect to it. I discuss this in detail in Showing Connection Information in an iOS Server. However, most folks who run into problems like this do so because they’re suffering from one of the following misconceptions: The device has a DNS name. Its DNS name is unique. Its DNS name doesn’t change. Its DNS name is in some way useful for networking. Some of these may be true in some specific circumstances, but none of them are true in all circumstances. These issues are not unique to Apple platforms — if you look at the Posix spec for gethostname, it says nothing about DNS! — but folks tend to notice these problems more on Apple platforms because Apple devices are often deployed to highly dynamic network environments. So, before you start using the APIs discussed in this post, think carefully about your assumptions. And if you actually do want to work with DNS, there are two cases to consider: If you’re looking for the local host name, use the APIs discussed above. In other cases, it’s likely that the APIs in this post will not be helpful and you’d be better off focusing on DNS APIs [1]. [1] The API I recommend for this is DNS-SD. See the DNS section in TN3151 Choosing the right networking API. macOS To get the user-assigned device name, call the SCDynamicStoreCopyComputerName(_:_:) function. For example: let userAssignedDeviceName = SCDynamicStoreCopyComputerName(nil, nil) as String? To get the local host name, call the SCDynamicStoreCopyLocalHostName(_:) function. For example: let localHostName = SCDynamicStoreCopyLocalHostName(nil) as String? IMPORTANT This returns just the name label. To form a local host name, append .local.. Both routines return an optional result; code defensively! If you’re displaying these values to the user, use the System Configuration framework dynamic store notification mechanism to keep your UI up to date. iOS and Friends On iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and visionOS, get the user-assigned device name from the name property on UIDevice. IMPORTANT Access to this is now restricted. For more on that, see the documentation for the com.apple.developer.device-information.user-assigned-device-name entitlement. There is no direct mechanism to get the local host name. Other APIs There are a wide variety of other APIs that purport to return the host name. These include: gethostname The name property on NSHost [1] The hostName property on NSProcessInfo (ProcessInfo in Swift) These are problematic for a number of reasons: They have a complex implementation that makes it hard to predict what value you’ll get back. They might end up trying to infer the host name from the network environment. The existing behaviour is hard to change due to compatibility concerns. Some of them are marked as to-be-deprecated. IMPORTANT The second issue is particularly problematic, because it involves synchronous DNS requests [2]. That’s slow in general. Worse yet, if the network environment is restricted in some way, these calls can be very slow, taking about 30 seconds to time out. Given these problems, it’s generally best to avoid calling these routines at all. [1] It also has a names property, which is a little closer to reality but still not particularly useful. [2] Actually, that’s not true for gethostname. Rather, that call just returns whatever was last set by sethostname. This is always fast. The System Configuration framework infrastructure calls sethostname to update the host name as the system state changes.

Creating another nw_endpoint_t/nw_connection_t from an existing one, to change port number
I'm able to discover a service with Bonjour, which gets me an nw_browse_result_t from which I can get an nw_endpoint_t and then an nw_connection_t. That's all fine. But this particular service runs on 3 ports. The port numbers of the other 2 ports are in the txt record (but they are well-known and stable anyway). How can I create 2 more nw_connection_t to the same host/IP but on a different port? I already have this working with NSNetService, but am trying to update to Network.framework. I've found nw_endpoint_get_address() but the docs say it returns null "if the endpoint is not of type nw_endpoint_type_address" and indeed nw_browse_result_t gives me an nw_endpoint_type_bonjour_service.

Unable to pass parameters from siri phrase to appIntent
I have a chat/search functionality in my app, I want to integrate siri where user can say something "Hey siri! Ask myApp to get latest news" then I want to invoke my search functionality with "get latest news". I see iOS apps like chatGPT and youtube have already achieved this. I am able to invoke the intent with static phrase which is expecting the parameter, user is able to provide the value when prompted after requestValueDialog. But it is a 2 step process for end user. I want to achieve in a single step. struct CombinedSiriShortcuts: AppShortcutsProvider { static var appShortcuts: [AppShortcut] { return [ AppShortcut( intent: ShowSpecificNewsArticleIntent(), phrases: [ "Ask \(.applicationName) to run a query:", ], shortTitle: "Specific News Article", systemImageName: "doc.text.fill" ), AppShortcut( intent: TestQuery(), phrases: [ "Ask \(.applicationName) to \(\.$query)", ], shortTitle: "Test intent", systemImageName: "doc.text.fill" ), ] } } struct ShowSpecificNewsArticleIntent: AppIntent { static var title: LocalizedStringResource = "Show Specific News Article" static var description = IntentDescription( "Provides details about a specific news article based on its title." ) @Parameter(title: "Query") var query: String @MainActor func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult & ProvidesDialog & ShowsSnippetView { print("in show specific intent"); print(query); return .result(dialog: "view more about: \(query)") } }

How to Verify the Authenticity of an In-App Purchase Receipt from Apple Pay?
I am an app developer, and I have implemented in-app purchases in my application. When a user completes a purchase, Apple displays a success popup. After the user taps "OK", I send the receiptData to my server to add points to their account. However, I have encountered cases where users either exit the app before tapping "OK" or experience network issues, preventing the receipt from being sent to my server. As a result, they do not receive their points. Later, some users send me a receipt from Apple Pay, claiming that the payment was successful. These receipts include details such as the orderId, email, and other transaction information. However, I am not certain whether the user actually completed the payment but encountered an issue, or if they are providing a fraudulent receipt. My question: How can I verify the authenticity of these receipts? Is there an official way to check if a given Apple Pay invoice corresponds to a real in-app purchase in my app? Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Issue Writing to BAR1 After BAR0 is Unavailable
Hello Everyone, I encountered an issue with PCI memory access in DriverKit. In my case, BAR0 is not available, but BAR1 is ready for use. Here’s the log output: !!! ERROR : Failed to get BAR0 info (error: 0xe00002f0). !!! BAR1 - MemoryIndex: 0x00000000, Size: 0x00040000, Type: 0 Issue Description When I initially wrote to BAR0 using memoryIndex = 0, it worked successfully: AME_Address_Write_32(pAMEData, pAMEData->memoryIndex, AME_HOST_INT_MASK_REGISTER, 0x0F); However, I mistakenly forgot to update memoryIndex to 1 for BAR1. Surprisingly, the write operation still succeeded. When I fixed memoryIndex = 1 for BAR1, the write operation no longer had any effect. There was no error, but the expected behavior did not occur. Relevant API (From IOPCIDevice.iig) /*! /*! * @brief Writes a 32-bit value to the PCI device's aperture at a given memory index. * @discussion This method writes a 32-bit register on the device and returns its value. * @param memoryIndex An index into the array of ranges assigned to the device. * @param offset An offset into the device's memory specified by the index. * @param data A 32-bit value to be written in host byte order. */ void MemoryWrite32(uint8_t memoryIndex, uint64_t offset, uint32_t data) LOCALONLY; Log Output: Writes to BAR0 (memoryIndex = 0) AME_Address_Write_32() called memoryIndex: 0, offset: 0x34, data: 0xf Wrote data 0xF to offset 52 AME_Address_Write_32() called memoryIndex: 0, offset: 0xa0, data: 0x1 Wrote data 0x1 to offset 160 AME_Address_Write_32() called memoryIndex: 0, offset: 0x20, data: 0xffffffff Wrote data 0xFFFFFFFF to offset 32 Writes to BAR1 (memoryIndex = 1) – No Response AME_Address_Write_32() called memoryIndex: 1, offset: 0x34, data: 0xf No confirmation log, no visible effect. Questions What should memoryIndex be set to for BAR1? The log shows "BAR1 - MemoryIndex: 0x00000000", but should I be using 1 instead? How can I verify if a write operation to BAR1 is successful? Is there a way to check if the memory region is actually writable? Should I use MemoryRead32() to confirm the written value? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Best Regards, Charles

[iOS] dyld - it loads a framework with a higher minimum OS support
Our app supports iOS12 as the minimum OS and we embed a framework with iOS15 minimum support. Naturally we weak-link it and use #available(iOS 15, ) to guard accesses to its symbols. On iOS12.5.7 the framework is completely ignored and the app works fine. On iOS13.3.1 however we get to see this error: Termination Description: DYLD, dependent dylib '/System/Library/Frameworks/AVFAudio.framework/AVFAudio' not found for '/private/var/containers/Bundle/Application/08DA2D93-4DC2-4523-98AF-FD52884989AE/<OUR_APP>.app/Frameworks/<FRAMEWORK>.framework/<FRAMEWORK>', tried but didn't find: '/System/Library/Frameworks/AVFAudio.framework/AVFAudio' '/System/Library/Frameworks/AVFAudio.framework/AVFAudio' has a dependency on AVFAudio which is available only since iOS 14.5 so it makes sense it wouldn;t be able to find it but what's bothering us is why does dyld even try loading the 's dependencies instead of just ignoring it? Could this be a bug on 13.3.1? Unfortunately at this time we don't have other iOS13 phones to test with. The 'LC_BUILD_VERSION' command sure enough seems valid:: Load command 10 cmd LC_BUILD_VERSION cmdsize 32 platform 2 minos 15.0 sdk 17.0 ntools 1 tool 3 version 1015.7

InApp purchases ok and ko at the same time (?!)
I'm working on an app the has implemented inapp purchases. They have been working so far, and they keep working currently. But just a couple of days ago, a specific user sent us a support ticket stating that when he purchases and item the bank charges it for the purchase, but within the app, the purchase fails and he doesn't receive the item. He sent us screenshots showing: The iOS native modal when a purchases has been finished correctly ("You're all set - Your purchase was successful "). Right after that modal, the app shows an internal modal showing "The purchase failed, please, try again later". Checking the app logs, that failure modal was triggered by "The operation couldn’t be completed. (StoreKit.StoreKitError error 1.)". Reading docs about this error leads me to think about device or user restrictions (parental controls, usage limits, etc...). It seems that in theses cases the bank charge could be issued but refunded later once Apple ultimately declines the purchase. However the user says that he doesn't have any kind of restriction. The only related thing is a "this device is also restricted by a profile" message, but everyone seems to have this message. What could it be causing this issue? In what scenariowould the app show a native OK modal but a storekit error 1? I'm pretty sure the app is well configured because I keep receiving purchases of all kind, from different users with any problem.

Dev Defined IAP Transaction Metadata
I have an app that works by being able to map IAP transactions to a predefined user ID. This means when I consume events from Apple's App Store Server Notifications endpoints I have to do a reverse lookup in order to assign permissions within my app. Workflow: User purchases subscription within the app via IAP. The app persists the subscriptionID from the Apple IAP library in my cloud database (Firestore). Cloud function receives the event from App Store Server Notifications endpoint and looks up the user ID containing the persisted transactionID (with retries to avoid race condition). Question: This workflow works but it seems an improvement would be to allow dev's to append metadata, like the user ID, to the transaction submitted to IAP that we can access within the signedTransactionInfo of the event from the App Store Server Notifications endpoint in order to facilitate a direct lookup of the user document needing it's permissions updated. This would greatly simplify workflows that use non-Apple systems as a source of truth for app permissions. Does this actually exist already? If not, is there a feature request platform?

DeviceActivityReport inconsistencies
Hello, I want to echo the DeviceActivityReport "concurrency" problems flagged in https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/720549, and ask a related question. (Thanks to Kmart and other Apple dev support folks who have been monitoring these forums and responding diligently.) I would like to display daily and weekly stats in the same view, broken down by specific apps (as in the native Screen Time). However, instantiating multiple DeviceActivityReport objects with different filters and/or different contexts leads to confusion, where the two views will incorrectly and intermittently swap data or duplicate data where it shouldn't (seemingly upon some interval when the extension provides fresh data). There isn't documentation on how to display multiple reports at once. Is the idea that logic for multiple reports should be embedded within the extension itself in the makeConfiguration() function and there should only be a single DeviceActivityReport in the main App, or is this a bug? Even with a single DeviceActivityReport, I run into inconsistencies where the View provided by the extension takes multiple seconds to load or fails to load altogether. The behavior seems random...I will build the application with the same code multiple times and see different behavior each time. Finally, a plug for better support in the Simulator for the entire set of Screen Time APIs. Thanks!

I have a chat/search functionality in my app, I want to integrate siri where user can say something "Hey siri! Ask myApp to get latest news" then I want to invoke my search functionality with "get latest news". I see iOS apps like chatGPT and youtube have already achieved this. I am able to invoke the intent with static phrase which is expecting the parameter, user is able to provide the value when prompted after requestValueDialog. But it is a 2 step process for end user. I want to achieve in a single step. struct CombinedSiriShortcuts: AppShortcutsProvider { static var appShortcuts: [AppShortcut] { return [ AppShortcut( intent: ShowSpecificNewsArticleIntent(), phrases: [ "Ask \(.applicationName) to run a query:", ], shortTitle: "Specific News Article", systemImageName: "doc.text.fill" ), AppShortcut( intent: TestQuery(), phrases: [ "Ask \(.applicationName) to \(\.$query)", ], shortTitle: "Test intent", systemImageName: "doc.text.fill" ), ] } } struct ShowSpecificNewsArticleIntent: AppIntent { static var title: LocalizedStringResource = "Show Specific News Article" static var description = IntentDescription( "Provides details about a specific news article based on its title." ) @Parameter(title: "Query") var query: String @MainActor func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult & ProvidesDialog & ShowsSnippetView { print("in show specific intent"); print(query); return .result(dialog: "view more about: \(query)") } }

Using Maps in App Intents
I want to use MapKit with App Intents, but the map does not show up.(See attached image) Can anyone help me solve this? import SwiftUI import MapKit struct ContentView: View {   @State private var region = MKCoordinateRegion(     center: CLLocationCoordinate2D(latitude: 37.334_900,                     longitude: -122.009_020),     latitudinalMeters: 750,     longitudinalMeters: 750   )       var body: some View {     VStack {       Map(coordinateRegion: $region).frame(width:300, height:300)         .disabled(true)     }   } } struct ContentView_Previews: PreviewProvider {   static var previews: some View {     ContentView()   } } import AppIntents import SwiftUI import MapKit struct test20220727bAppIntentsExtension: AppIntent {   static var title: LocalizedStringResource = "test20220727bAppIntentsExtension"       func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult {     return .result(value: "aaa", view: ContentView())   } } struct testShortcuts:AppShortcutsProvider{   @available(iOS 16.0, *)   static var appShortcuts: [AppShortcut]{     AppShortcut(       intent: test20220727bAppIntentsExtension(),       phrases: ["test20220727bAppIntentsExtension" ]     )   } }

Thanks!

How to detect refund for paid app?
I noticed a very weird behavior for refunds. When a user refunds an up-front paid app, they still have access to the app. How can I detect such a case and block access to the app? In general, I think it should be handled by Apple, but for some reason, they don't do it.
