Share session from ASWebAuthenticationSession with WKWebView
Hello everyone, In my application, i have implemented authentication using ASWebauthenticationSession. However, when redirecting the user to a WKWebView, no cookies are shared, causing the session to be lost and requiring the user to log in again. Is there a way to share cookies between the two? If not, what would be the best approach to set up authentication that ensures SSO when switching to a WebView ? Thank you very much for your help !

Apple ID and App Store Connect account randomly locked
Friday we were preparing to publish our final build in TestFlight. Our developer informed me that the account holder had to agree to new terms and agreements. I am the sole user of this account, and tried to login (1 week ago I was still able to login). To my surprise I got the notification “account locked”, ”you need to reset your password”. I followed the required step: filling in the phone number on file (which is my phone number). After filling this in the page informed me that they’d get back to me in 1 day. On Saturday I received an email from no_reply@apple with the following “We have received the request for access to your account and we have denied access.” There was no further information in the email why this would be. I tried Apple support but they tell me they can not reactivate the account and I should apply for a new Apple ID. This sounds really strange as it would mean I would lose access to our currently published application forever? But in general I am just shocked how they can deny access to an account, which is even a paid one (Developer Program), and not help me out. I am able to supply all identification (passport). I have access to the email that we use to login. I have access to the mobile phone number that is connected for exactly this reason (two factor authentication). Anyone with similar experience and/or solutions?

Unit tests and persistent tokens
I'd like to implement unit tests that exercise keys made available via a persistent token interface. However, when attempting to list available tokens by passing kSecAttrAccessGroupToken as the kSecAttrAccessGroup to SecItemCopyMatching from a unit test, -34018 is returned. It succeeds without the kSecAttrAccessGroup, which makes sense given the unit test binary does not have com.apple.token Keychain Group. The Xcode UI indicates "Capabilities are not supported" for the unit test binary when attempting to add a Keychain Sharing capability to enable use of persistent tokens. This feels like a dead end but begs the question is there any way to implement unit tests to exercise a persistent token interface? It seems like the only path may be write unit tests that drive an independent app that handles the interactions with the persistent token.

Application not getting identified after notarization
Hi folks We have a Developer ID Application which we create using electron. We made our last release for our Application on Nov'24 which was correctly working. Using the same code, we tried creating a notarized application again which started showing the following error while opening our Application. Monterey- M2- When we directly run the dmg on the dev machine, it does not give us the prompt. But if we download it from somewhere and run, the prompt comes up even in dev machine. We executed some commands to verify the notarization: 1- spctl --assess -vv /Applications/Refresh\ Pro.app On both dev machine and non-dev machine, the output was "accepted" /Applications/Refresh Pro.app: accepted source=Notarized Developer ID origin=Developer ID Application: Prograde Digital Incorporated (*******) 2- xcrun stapler validate /Applications/Refresh\ Pro.app On dev machine, we executed this command and the output is as follows. Processing: /Applications/Refresh Pro.app The validate action worked! 3- codesign -vvv --deep --strict /Applications/Refresh\ Pro.app/ /Applications/Refresh Pro.app: valid on disk /Applications/Refresh Pro.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement We have created a bug attaching the dmg. Please suggest anything we can try to make the release out the door. Bug link- https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/feedback/16811025

Apple Sign-In Private Relay Issue Across Two Organizations
Hello Apple Developer Support, I am experiencing an issue with Apple Sign-In and Private Relay across two separate organizations. I have a web application that supports Apple Sign-In, configured under organization ID: 62P86SVLK4. Users can log in using their Apple accounts with the Hide My Email (Private Relay) feature enabled. This web application was created a long time ago and initially only had a web component. Recently, we developed a native mobile version of this application, which also supports Apple Sign-In. However, due to business constraints, the mobile application was created under a different organization ID: T6JT35U9NW. The Issue Since the web and mobile applications are registered under different organizations, accounts created using Apple Sign-In with Private Relay are not recognized across both applications. For example: A user creates an account in the web app using Apple Sign-In with Private Relay. When they attempt to log in to the mobile app with Apple Sign-In (also using Private Relay), authentication fails because the generated Private Relay email addresses do not match between the two organizations. Question Is there any way to link Private Relay accounts across these two organizations so that users who signed up on the web application can log in to the mobile application seamlessly? I appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue. Best regards, Kamil Gronert

User-Assigned Device Name Entitlement for Multipeer Connectivity
Hi everyone, I’m developing a multiplayer iOS game that uses Multipeer Connectivity for local peer-to-peer networking. I’d like to display user-assigned device names in the UI to help players identify each other during the connection process. In iOS 16 and later, accessing UIDevice.current.name requires the User-Assigned Device Name Entitlement. The documentation states that the entitlement is granted for functionality involving “interaction between multiple devices that the same user operates”. My game is strictly multiplayer, with devices owned by different users, not a single user managing multiple devices. I have a few questions regarding this: Does the requirement for “devices operated by the same user” definitively exclude multiplayer scenarios where devices belong to different players? Can a Multipeer Connectivity-based game qualify for the entitlement in this case? If the entitlement is not applicable, is prompting users to enter custom names the recommended approach for identifying devices in a multiplayer UI? Has anyone successfully obtained this entitlement for a similar multiplayer use case with Multipeer Connectivity? Thanks in advance.

SecKeyCreateRandomKey with EC key type generates broken keypair
Why does the following code generate a public key that can't be parsed by openssl? import Security import CryptoKit func generateKeys() throws -> (privateKey: SecKey, publicKey: SecKey) { let query: [String: Any] = [ kSecAttrKeyType as String: kSecAttrKeyTypeECSECPrimeRandom, kSecAttrKeySizeInBits as String: 256, kSecAttrIsPermanent as String: false ] var error: Unmanaged<CFError>? guard let privateKey = SecKeyCreateRandomKey(query as CFDictionary, &error) else { throw error!.takeRetainedValue() } let publicKey = SecKeyCopyPublicKey(privateKey)! return (privateKey, publicKey) } extension SecKey { func exportBase64EncodedKey() -> String { var error: Unmanaged<CFError>? guard let data = SecKeyCopyExternalRepresentation(self, &error) else { fatalError("Failed to export key: \(error!.takeRetainedValue())") } return (data as Data).base64EncodedString(options: [.lineLength64Characters]) } } func printPublicKey() { let keyPair = try! generateKeys() let encodedPublicKey = keyPair.publicKey.exportBase64EncodedKey() var header = "-----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY-----" var footer = "-----END PUBLIC KEY-----" var pemKey = "\(header)\n\(encodedPublicKey)\n\(footer)\n" print(pemKey) } printPublicKey() when parsing the key I get this: openssl pkey -pubin -in new_public_key.pem -text -noout Could not find private key of Public Key from new_public_key.pem 404278EC01000000:error:1E08010C:DECODER routines:OSSL_DECODER_from_bio:unsupported:crypto/encode_decode/decoder_lib.c:102:No supported data to decode. Replacing kSecAttrKeyTypeECSECPrimeRandom with kSecAttrKeyTypeRSA and a bigger key size (e.g. 2048) gives me a working public key that can be parsed by Openssl. Thanks!

WebView-Based Authentication in macOS Authorization Plugin
I am developing an Authorization plugin for macOS that should be invoked when a user unlocks their device from the lock screen. Based on advice from the other threads in these forums, I have understood that: The plugin needs to use SFAuthorizationPluginView The auth db entries to modify are system.login.screensaver and authenticate I found the NameAndPassword sample and after making some tweaks to it was able to get it to work from screensaver unlock. I am trying to add Webview-based authentication to the plugin, but have not had any success. The plugin window's width does not change (though the height does) and only a small portion of the HTML gets rendered. Is Webview-based authentication supported with SFAuthorizationPluginView? Are there any alternatives?

When is kSecAttrService actually required when saving an item to the Keychain?
I was basically saving items into the Keychain with the following query dictionary: let query: [String: Any] = [ kSecClass as String: kSecClassGenericPassword, kSecAttrAccount as String: key, kSecValueData as String: value, kSecAttrAccessible as String: kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlock ] Where key is a String value and value is a Data that used to be a String. I was getting the following error: code: -25299 description: The specified item already exists in the keychain After a lot of digging in I saw that I needed to add kSecAttrService to the dictionary and after that it all started working. The service value is a String value. let query: [String: Any] = [ kSecClass as String: kSecClassGenericPassword, kSecAttrService as String: service, kSecAttrAccount as String: key, kSecValueData as String: value, kSecAttrAccessible as String: kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlock ] These were the articles that suggested adding the kSecAttrService parameter: https://stackoverflow.com/a/11672200 https://stackoverflow.com/a/58233542 But in the same code base I found that other developers were saving using a dictionary similar to the one I first provided and it works: var query: [String : Any] = [ kSecClass as String : kSecClassGenericPassword as String, kSecAttrAccount as String : key, kSecValueData as String : data ] I don't know how to explain why my first implementation didn't work even though it was similar to what was already in the code base but the second approach worked well. Regardless of the query dictionary, this is how I'm saving things: static func save(value: Data, key: String, service: String) -> KeyChainOperationStatus { logInfo("Save Value - started, key: \(key), service: \(service)") let query: [String: Any] = [ kSecClass as String: kSecClassGenericPassword, kSecAttrService as String: service, kSecAttrAccount as String: key, kSecValueData as String: value, kSecAttrAccessible as String: kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlock ] // Remove any existing key let cleanUpStatus = SecItemDelete(query as CFDictionary) let cleanUpStatusDescription = SecCopyErrorMessageString(cleanUpStatus, nil)?.asString ?? "__cleanup_status_unavailable" logInfo("Save Value - cleanup status: \(cleanUpStatus), description: \(cleanUpStatusDescription)") guard cleanUpStatus == errSecSuccess || cleanUpStatus == errSecItemNotFound else { logError("Save Value - Failed cleaning up KeyChain") return .cleanupFailed(code: cleanUpStatus) } // Add the new key let saveStatus = SecItemAdd(query as CFDictionary, nil) let saveStatusDescription = SecCopyErrorMessageString(saveStatus, nil)?.asString ?? "__save_status_unavailable" logInfo("Save Value - save status [\(saveStatus)] : \(saveStatusDescription)") guard saveStatus == errSecSuccess else { logError("Save Value - Failed saving new value into KeyChain") return .savingFailed(code: saveStatus) } return .successs }

Debugging memory consumption in an Endpoint Security process
I have a launch daemon that's using the Endpoint Security framework which also is causing high memory usage (in Activity Monitor memory column shows for example 2GB and Real Memory 11MB) when building a big project in Xcode. Is it some kind of memory caching by the system? leaks -forkCorpse seems to not show any leaks. How can I attach with heap or Instruments without the process being killed with "ENDPOINTSECURITY, Code 2 EndpointSecurity client terminated because it failed to respond to a message before its deadline"?

ASWebAuthenticationSession crash after window closes on macOS
I'm trying to use ASWebAuthenticationSession on macOS but there is a weird crash and I have no idea what to do. On macOS 15.4+, NSWindow with kCGWindowSharingStateSharingNone still captured by ScreenCaptureKit
I have a custom NSWindow that I want to exclude from screen capture by setting its sharing state to kCGWindowSharingStateSharingNone. The goal is to prevent this window from appearing in the content captured by ScreenCaptureKit. [window setSharingType:NSWindowSharingType::NSWindowSharingNone]; However, on macOS 15.4+ (Sequoia), the window is still captured by ScreenCaptureKit and appears in the shared content. Does anyone know if kCGWindowSharingStateSharingNone is still effective with ScreenCaptureKit on macOS 15.4 and later?

passkey in iOS via iCloudKeyChain
I have a very basic binary question around passkeys. Assuming everything is on latest and greatest version with respect to iOS, when user starts creating a passkey in platform-authenticator i.e., iCloudKeyChain (Apple Password Manager) , will iCloudKeyChain create a hardware-bound passkey in secure-enclave i.e., is brand new key-pair created right inside Secure-enclave ? OR will the keypair be created in software i.e., software-bound-passkey ?? i.e., software-bound keypair and store the private-key locally in the device encrypted with a key that is of course created in secure-enclave.

.pkg installation failing with "Not authorized to send Apple events to Finder" error in preinstall phase
I have a macOS package (.pkg) that checks for installed Java versions on the machine during the preinstall phase using a preinstall script. If the required Java version is not found, the script displays a message using osascript as shown below. /usr/bin/osascript -e 'tell application "Finder"' -e 'activate' -e 'display dialog "Java Development Kit (JDK) 11 is required" buttons{"OK"} with title "Myprod Warning"' -e 'end tell' So far, no issues have been observed with the installation of my package on all versions of macOS. However, on macOS 15.2, the installation is failing with a "Not authorized to send Apple events to Finder" error. Could someone please help me understand what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it?

Issue with record.changePassword Clearing Keychain Information Hello,
I am developing a sample authorization plugin to sync the user’s local password to the network password. During the process, I prompt the user to enter both their old and new passwords in custom plugin. After the user enters the information, I use the following code to sync the passwords: try record.changePassword(oldPssword, toPassword: newPassword) However, I have noticed that this is clearing all saved keychain information, such as web passwords and certificates. Is it expected behavior for record.changePassword to clear previously stored keychain data? If so, how can I overcome this issue and ensure the keychain information is preserved while syncing the password? Thank you for your help!

Empty passkey list in ASCredentialIdentityStore
I have been able to save and remove ASPasskeyCredentialIdentities in the ASCredentialIdentityStore. But after saving a ASPasskeyCredentialIdentity, when I retrieve the current identities stored, it always returns an empty list. I check to make sure the store is enabled. I am using this method which is available starting with iOS 17.4: extension ASCredentialIdentityStore { public func credentialIdentities(forService serviceIdentifier: ASCredentialServiceIdentifier? = nil, credentialIdentityTypes: ASCredentialIdentityStore.IdentityTypes = []) async -> [any ASCredentialIdentity] } I have called it like this: store.credentialIdentities(forService: nil, credentialIdentityTypes: .passkey) And this: store.credentialIdentities() Has anyone got this to work?

App Tracking Transparency - Pre-Modal Explanation
Hi, I hope someone is able to help me with this query: Is there a mandatory requirement to display a view before presenting the App Tracking Transparency modal to explain to the user why the app is asking for tracking? I see there are a few apps which do this, but I don't see any mention of this as a mandatory requirement within the app store review guidelines. The modal can be customised with a description detailing why the app is asking for tracking and I believe this may be sufficient to pass an app store review. The guidelines also mention that the app must provide access to information about how and where the data will be used. We have these details in our privacy policy which is accessible from within the app. Is this sufficient or do we need a pre-modal view which contains a direct link the the privacy policy. Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
