Xcode downloaded a crash report for my app that crashed when trying to insert a String into a Set<String>. Apparently there was an assertion failure ELEMENT_TYPE_OF_SET_VIOLATES_HASHABLE_REQUIREMENTS. I assume that this assertion failure happened because the hash of the new element didn't match the hash of an equal already inserted element, but regardless, I don't understand how inserting a simple string could trigger this assertion.
Here is essentially the code that leads to the crash. path is any file system directory, and basePath is a directory higher in the hierarchy, or path itself.

I am creating a macOs SwiftUI document based app, and I am struggling with the Window sizes and placements. Right now by default, a normal window has the minimize and full screen options which makes the whole window into full screen mode.
However, I don't want to do this for my app. I want to only allow to fill the available width and height, i.e. exclude the status bar and doc when the user press the fill window mode, and also restrict to resize the window beyond a certain point ( which ideally to me is 1200 x 700 because I am developing on macbook air 13.3-inch in which it looks ideal, but resizing it below that makes the entire content inside messed up ).
I want something like this below instead of the default full screen green
When the user presses the button, it should position centered with perfect aspect ratio from my content ( or the one I want like 1200 x 700 ) and can be able to click again to fill the available width and height excluding the status bar and docs.

This is a basic setup I did for now, this automatically fills the available width and height on launch, but user can resize and can go beyond my desired min width and height which makes the entire content inside messy.
As I said, I want a native way of doing this, respect the content aspect ratio, don't allow to enter full screen mode, only be able to fill the available width and height excluding the status bar and doc, also don't allow to resize below my desired width and height.

I have c++ macOs app(Xcode +14) and I try to add call to swift code.
I can't find any simple c++ xcodeproj call to swift code.
I create new simple project and fail to build it with error when I try to include #include <SwiftMixTester/SwiftMixTester-Swift.h>:

For the below code please can you tell me why the test code print("line 64") is being printed after the test code print("line 84") ? (i.e. how do I stop that happening?)
I would like the program to wait until the results array has been parsed before continuing the code (otherwise it does not have content to present).

I’m working on a project in Xcode 16.2 and encountered an issue where getAPI() with a default implementation in a protocol extension doesn’t show up in autocomplete. Here’s a simplified version of the code:

I have a class that I want to custom encode into JSON:

As you can see, I calculate the double form of the declination when I decode a JSON file containing the data. What I want to do now is ENCODE the class back out as a single string.
Currently the standard JSON encode in Swift produces the following:

what I want to produce is:
declination:"+18:15:50.00"
How can I easily do that? I've read up about custom encoders and such, and I get confused about the containers and what keys are being used. I think there might be a simple answer where I could just code:

I'm continuing with the migration towards Swift 6. Within one of our libraries, I want to check whether a parameter object: Any? confirms to Sendable.
I tried the most obvious one:

But that results into the compiler error "Marker protocol 'Sendable' cannot be used in a conditional cast".

I have a simple shell script as follows:

It just dumps the network config into a file. At some point I will have the file emailed out, but right now I'm just trying to figure out why the output looks like the following?

Why in the world does the initial character of the last couple of "echo" commands get clipped and turned into periods? The echos for the output of the commands piped into the output file are fine. Strange...

I’m working with Swift and encountered an issue when using the contains method on an array. The following code works fine:
let result = ["hello", "world"].contains(Optional("hello")) // ✅ Works fine
However, when I try to use the same contains method with the array declared in a separate constant(or variable), I get a compile-time error:
let stringArray = ["hello", "world"]
let result = stringArray.contains(Optional("hello")) // ❌ Compile-time error
The compiler produces the following error message:
Cannot convert value of type 'Optional<String>' to expected argument type 'String'
Both examples seem conceptually similar, but the second one causes a compile-time error, while the first one works fine.
This confuses me because I know that Swift automatically promotes a non-optional value to an optional when comparing it with an optional value. This means "hello" should be implicitly converted to Optional("hello") for the comparison.
What I understand so far:
The contains(_:) method is defined as:
func contains(_ element: Element) -> Bool
Internally, it calls contains(where:), as seen in the Swift source code:

contains(where:) takes a closure that applies the == operator for comparison.
Since Swift allows comparing String and String? directly (String is implicitly promoted to String? when compared with an optional), I expected contains(where:) to work the same way.
My Questions:
Why does the first example work, but the second one fails with a compile-time error?
What exactly causes this error in the second case, even though both cases involve comparing an optional value with a non-optional value?
Does contains(_:) behave differently when used with an explicit array variable rather than a direct array literal? If so, why?
I know that there are different ways to resolve this, like using nil coalescing or optional binding, but what I’m really looking for is a detailed explanation of why this issue occurs at the compile-time level.
Can anyone explain the underlying reason for this behavior?

I'm running into a Swift Concurrency issue and would appreciate some help understanding what's going on.
I have a protocol and an actor set up like this:

When I compile this code, I get a concurrency error:

I’m stuck with repeated production crashes in my SwiftUI app and I can’t make sense of the traces on my own.
The symbolicated reports show the same pattern:
Crash on com.apple.CFNetwork.LoaderQ with EXC_BAD_ACCESS / PAC failure
Always deep in CFNetwork, most often in
URLConnectionLoader::loadWithWhatToDo(NSURLRequest*, _CFCachedURLResponse const*, long, URLConnectionLoader::WhatToDo)
No frames from my code, no sign of AuthManager or tokens.
What I’ve tried:
Enabled Address Sanitizer,
Malloc Scribble,
Guard Malloc,
Zombies.
Set CFNETWORK_DIAGNOSTICS=3 and collected Console logs.
Stress-tested the app (rapid typing, filter switching, background/foreground, poor network with Network Link Conditioner).
Could not reproduce the crash locally.
So far:
Logs show unrelated performance faults (I/O on main thread, CLLocationManager delegate), but no obvious CFNetwork misuse.
My suspicion is a URLSession lifetime or delegate/auth-challenge race, but I can’t confirm because I can’t trigger it.
Since starting this investigation, I also refactored some of my singletons into @State/@ObservedObject dependencies. For example, my app root now wires up AuthManager, BackendService, and AccountManager (where API calls happen using async/await) as @State properties:

Request:
Given the crash location (URLConnectionLoader::loadWithWhatToDo), can Apple provide guidance on known scenarios or misuses that can lead to this crash?
Is there a way to get more actionable diagnostics from CFNetwork beyond CFNETWORK_DIAGNOSTICS to pinpoint whether it’s session lifetime, cached response corruption, or auth/redirect?
Can you also confirm whether my dependency setup above could contribute to URLSession or backend lifetime issues?
I can’t reliably reproduce the crash, and without Apple’s insight the stack trace is effectively opaque to me.

In C#, one can define associated functions by the following.
Notice that "Declarations DE" is a reference to a function in another C# project file. This lets the compiler know that there are other references in the project.
Likewise, "Form_Load" is the entry point of the code, similar to "main" in C. Any calls to related functions can be made in this section, to the functions that have been previously defined above.
So I set out trying to find similar information about SwiftUI, and found several, but only offer partial answers to my questions.

The most confusing thing for me, is where is "main"?
I found several examples that call functions from the structure shown above, BUT I have no reason as to why.
So one web example on StackOverFlow called the function from position 1. That did not work.
Position 2 worked to call the function at position 3, but really, why?
All this activity brings up a lot of questions for me, such as:
Does SwiftUI need function callouts similar to C#, and they are called out even before running "main". I seem to recall Borland Delphi being this way as well.
How does SwiftUI make references to other classes (places where other functions are stored in separate files)?
Does SwiftUI actually make use of "main" in the normal sense, i.e. similar to C, C#, Rust and so on?
I did notice that once a SwiftUI function is called, it makes reference to data being passed very similar to other languages, at least for the examples I found.
Note that I looked at official SwiftUI documentation, but did not come across information that answers the above.
