iOS 26.1 PHPickerConfiguration.preselectedAssetIdentifiers doesn't select previous pictures in the PHPickerViewController
Hi, I faced with the issue on iOS 26.1 with PHPickerViewController. After first selection I save assetIdentifier of PHPickerResult for images. next time I open the picker I expect to have the images selected based on assetIdentifier Code: var config = PHPickerConfiguration(photoLibrary: .shared()) config.selectionLimit = 10 config.filter = .images config.preselectedAssetIdentifiers = images.compactMap(\.assetID) let picker = PHPickerViewController(configuration: config) picker.delegate = self present(picker, animated: true) But on iOS 26.1 they aren't selected. On lower iOS version all works fine. Does anybody faced with similar issue?

UISlider valueChanged has uninitialized UIEvent
This issue was in the first iOS 26 beta and it still there with Xcode 26 beta 6 (17A5305f). Feedback is FB18581605 and contains sample project to reproduce the issue. I assign a target and action to a UISlider for the UIControl.Event.valueChanged value: addTarget(self, action: #selector(sliderValueDidChange), for: .valueChanged) Here’s the function. @objc func sliderValueDidChange(_ sender: UISlider, event: UIEvent) { print(event) } When printing the event value, there is a crash. When checking the event value with lldb, it appears uninitialized.

tabViewBottomAccessory in 26.1: View's @State is lost when switching tabs
Any view that is content for the tabViewBottomAccessory API fails to retain its state as of the last couple of 26.1 betas (and RC). The loss of state happens (at least) when the currently selected tab is switched (filed as FB20901325). Widget link broken by `.desaturated` image rendering mode
Using desaturated mode on an image in a widget will break any links or buttons that use the image as their 'label'. Using the following will just open the app as if there was no link at all - therefore just using the fallback userActivity handler, or any .widgetURL() urls provided. iOS 26 Beta bug - keyboard toolbar with bottom safe area inset
Hello! I have experienced a weird bug in iOS 26 Beta (8) and previous beta versions. The safe area inset is not correctly aligned with the keyboard toolbar on real devices and simulators. When you focus a new textfield the bottom safe area is correctly placed aligned the keyboard toolbar. On real devices the safe area inset view is covered slightly by the keyboard toolbar, which is even worse than on the simulator. interactive glassEffect bug?
Applying glass effect, providing a shape isn't resulting in the provided shape rendering the interaction correctly. .glassEffect(.regular.tint(Color(event.calendar.cgColor)).interactive(), in: .rect(cornerRadius: 20)) results in properly drawn view but interactive part of it is off. light and shimmer appear as a capsule within the rect.

Xcode 26 - Crashing Loading Custom TabBarViewController
When I build my app for iPad OS, either 26, or 18.5, as well as iOS on 16.5 from Xcode 26 with UIDesignRequiresCompatibility enabled my app is crashing as it loads the main UIViewController, a subclassed UITabBarController which is being loaded programatically from a Storyboard from another SplashScreen ViewController. On i(Pad)OS 18.5 I get this error: Thread 1: "Could not instantiate class named _TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView_ because no class named _TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView_ was found; the class needs to be defined in source code or linked in from a library (ensure the class is part of the correct target)" On iPadOS 26 I get this error: UIKitCore/UICoreHostingView.swift:54: Fatal error: init(coder:) has not been implemented There is no issue building from Xcode 16.4, regardless of targeted i(Pad)OS.

TipKit: showing a popover tip on a SwiftUI toolbar button
Hi folks, there's currently a known issue in TipKit due to which it won't show popover tips on buttons that are inside a SwiftUI ToolbarItem. For example, if you try this code, the popover tip will not appear: ToolbarItem { Button(action: {...}) { Label("Tap here", systemImage: "gear") } .popoverTip(sampleTip) } There's an easy workaround for this issue. Just apply a style to the button. It can be any style. Some examples are bordered, borderless, plain and borderedProminent. Here's a fixed version of the above code: ToolbarItem { Button(action: {...}) { Label("Tap here", systemImage: "gear") } .buttonStyle(.plain) // Adding this line fixes the issue. .popoverTip(sampleTip) } Hope this helps anyone running into this issue.

Combining NavigationSplitView and TabView in iOS 18
Hi folks, I've used a NavigationSplitView within one of the tabs of my app since iOS 16, but with the new styling in iOS 18 the toolbar region looks odd. In other tabs using e.g. simple stacks, the toolbar buttons are horizontally in line with the new tab picker, but with NavigationSplitView, the toolbar leaves a lot of empty space at the top (see below). Is there anything I can do to adjust this, or alternatively, continue to use the old style? Thanks!

[macOS Sequoia] Using RegisterEventHotkey with option and shift modifiers doesn't working anymore
Hello. In my app, I use RegisterEventHotkey to implement global keyboard shortcuts to trigger actions. Up until macOS Sequoia, I was able to use a keyboard shortcut with option and shift as the modifiers, like option shift 2 (⌥ ⇧ 2). Now, on macOS Sequoia, using RegisterEventHotkey to register a hotkey with those exact modifiers (option and shift), regardless of the key, fails with the error -9868 (eventInternalErr). Is this a documented and wanted change, or is this a bug? Other modifier keys (just command, command option, command shift, command control, control shift, etc), all work. SwiftUI Slider onEditingChanged is unreliable on iOS 26
For information I stumbled upon a regression with SwiftUI Slider on iOS 26. Its onEditingChanged closure might be called twice when interaction ends, with a final Boolean incorrect value of true provided to the closure. As a result apps cannot reliably rely on this closure to detect when an interaction with the slider starts or ends. I filed a feedback under FB20283439 (iOS 26.0 regression: Slider onEditingChanged closure is unreliable).

UITabBarController crashes when editing the items
I'm using one UITabBarController which leads to 6 NavigationController. Therefore the user will get 4 icons displayed and one icon with three points to see the rest of the Navigation Controller. If the user now tries to edit the list and moves one item from the hidden area towards the TabBar at the bottom, the App crashes with the error: Exception NSException * "Can't add self as subview" 0x0000600000d16040 I can see this effect at least on both my apps. If the same compilation is run on a older iOS version, there is no crash. Is there anything I have to take care of the configuration of the TabBar, when it comes to iOS26?

How can we performantly scroll to a target location using TextKit 2?
How can we performantly scroll to a target location using TextKit 2? Hi everyone, I'm building a custom text editor using TextKit 2 and would like to scroll to a target location efficiently. For instance, I would like to move to the end of a document seamlessly, similar to how users can do in standard text editors by using CMD + Down. Background: NSTextView and TextEdit on macOS can navigate to the end of large documents in milliseconds. However, after reading the documentation and experimenting with various ideas using TextKit 2's APIs, it's not clear how third-party developers are supposed to achieve this. Issues Encountered: In my attempts, I have come across the following two issues. Estimated Frames: The frames of NSTextLayoutFragment and NSTextLineFragment are approximate and not precise enough for scrolling unless the text layout fragment has been fully laid out. Laying out all text is expensive: The frames become accurate once NSTextLayoutManager's ensureLayout(for:) method has been called with a range covering the entire document. However, ensureLayout(for:) is resource-intensive and can take seconds for large documents. NSTextView, on the other hand, accomplishes the same scrolling to the end of a document in milliseconds. I've tried using NSTextViewportLayoutController's relocateViewport(to:) without success. It's unclear to me whether this function is intended for a use case like mine. If it is, I would appreciate some guidance on its proper usage. Configuration: I'm testing on macOS Sonoma 14.5 (23F79), Swift (AppKit), Xcode 15.4 (15F31d). I'm working on a multi-platform project written in AppKit and UIKit, so I'm looking for either a single solution that works in both AppKit and UIKit or two solutions, one for each UI framework. Question: How can third-party developers scroll to a target location, specifically the end of a document, performantly using TextKit 2? Steps to Reproduce: The issue can be reproduced using the example project (download from link below) by following these steps: Open the example project. Run the example app on a Mac. The example app shows an uneditable text view in a scroll view. The text view displays a long text. Press the "Move to End of Document" toolbar item. Notice that the text view has scrolled to the bottom, but this took several seconds (~3 seconds on my MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2021). The duration will be shown in Xcode's log. You can open the ExampleTextView.swift file and find the implementation of moveToEndOfDocument(_:). Comment out line 84 where the ensureLayout(_:) is called, rerun the app, and then select "Move to End of Document" again. This time, you will notice that the text view moves fast but does not end up at the bottom of the document. You may also open the large-file.json in the project, the same file that the example app displays, in TextEdit, and press CMD+Down to move to the end of the document. Notice that TextEdit does this in mere milliseconds. "Use location, address and addressRepresentations instead" Is it possible to know what kind of "Address" a MapItem is representing (State, County, Neighborhood etc) after a MKGeocodingRequest? Is it possible to find out the CLRegion or similar of an map item. (Now when we cannot read it from the Placemark)

UIRequiresFullScreen Deprecation
I work on a universal app that targets both iPhone and iPad. Our iPad app currently requires full screen. When testing on the latest iPadOS 26 beta, we see the following warning printed to the console: Update the Info.plist: 1) `UIRequiresFullScreen` will soon be ignored. 2) Support for all orientations will soon be required. It will take a fair amount of effort to update our app to properly support presentation in a resizable window. We wanted to gauge how urgent this change is. Our testing has shown that iPadOS 26 supports our app in a non-resizable window. Can someone from Apple provide any guidance as to how soon “soon” is? Will UIRequiresFullScreen be ignored in iPadOS 26? Will support for all orientations be required in iPadOS 26?

Display .icon files in SwiftUI
Is there a way to display a .icon file in SwiftUI? I want to show the app icon in the app itself but exporting and including the app icon as a PNG feels redundant. This would consume a lot of unnecessary storage especially when including a lot of alternative app icons. There has to be a better way Otherwise I would file a feedback for that Thank you

26.1b4 breaks zoom transition from tabViewBottomAccessory when fullScreenCover item is non-trivial Binding
Filed in Feedback as FB20772137 Zoom transition originating from inside tabViewBottomAccessory, when the binding passed to fullScreenCover's item is a Binding other than a "$-synthesized" binding, the animation fails with the following error (and crucially fails to perform the desired animation): Starting a zoom transition from a nil view will trigger a fallback transition. To get the best possible teansition, be sure to provide a view that's visible and in a window. What I want to do is pass a binding to a property inside an ObservableObject (or @Observable, but it doesn't matter) to hold the item representing the presentation. But this stopped working as of 26.1b4. It worked in 26.1b3 and in 26.0 (and 26.0.1) Here's the gist of code that will reproduce the issue (I've omitted irrelevant details in the interest of brevity): struct ContentView: View { @Binding var presentation: PresentationDestination? @Namespace private var animation var body: some View { // Omitted TabView stuff… .tabViewBottomAccessory { miniPlayer .matchedTransitionSource( id: "player", in: animation ) } .fullScreenCover( item: $presentation, content: { _ in fullScreenPlayer .navigationTransition( .zoom( sourceID: "player", in: animation ) ) }) } As you can see, ContentView takes a Binding to the presentation, but it matters how this binding is constructed. This works: @State private var presentation: PresentationDestination … ContentView(presentation: $presentation) This fails (as does ObservableObject with @Published): @Observable class Router2 { var presentation: PresentationDestination? } … @State private var router2 = Router2() … ContentView(presentation: $router2.presentation) Also, this fails: @State private var presentation: PresentationDestination … ContentView( presentation: .init(get: { presentation }, set: { newValue in presentation = newValue }) ) These differences are unexpected, of course. I consider this a regression in 26.1b4 I should add that if I move the source of the transition to somewhere outside tabViewBottomAccessory things seem to work fine.

Duplicate toolbar item and wrong document name in SwiftUI document based app
My app is a SwiftUI document based app using DocumentGroupLaunchScene. In iOS(iPadOS) 18.4, when it launches, it has duplicate toolbar items, and when I close the current document and open other documents, it adds more duplicates. It also shows a wrong document name, which shows the first opened document name. This issue can be reproduced in the sample code (Building a document-based app with SwiftUI). I have submitted Feedback (FB17025216), but not sure if this is a known bug or if I'm missing anything.

tabViewBottomAccessory in 26.1: View's @State is lost when switching tabs
Any view that is content for the tabViewBottomAccessory API fails to retain its state as of the last couple of 26.1 betas (and RC). The loss of state happens (at least) when the currently selected tab is switched (filed as FB20901325). Widget link broken by `.desaturated` image rendering mode
Using desaturated mode on an image in a widget will break any links or buttons that use the image as their 'label'. Using the following will just open the app as if there was no link at all - therefore just using the fallback userActivity handler, or any .widgetURL() urls provided. iOS 26 Beta bug - keyboard toolbar with bottom safe area inset
Hello! I have experienced a weird bug in iOS 26 Beta (8) and previous beta versions. The safe area inset is not correctly aligned with the keyboard toolbar on real devices and simulators. When you focus a new textfield the bottom safe area is correctly placed aligned the keyboard toolbar. On real devices the safe area inset view is covered slightly by the keyboard toolbar, which is even worse than on the simulator. interactive glassEffect bug?
Applying glass effect, providing a shape isn't resulting in the provided shape rendering the interaction correctly. .glassEffect(.regular.tint(Color(event.calendar.cgColor)).interactive(), in: .rect(cornerRadius: 20)) results in properly drawn view but interactive part of it is off. light and shimmer appear as a capsule within the rect.

Xcode 26 - Crashing Loading Custom TabBarViewController
When I build my app for iPad OS, either 26, or 18.5, as well as iOS on 16.5 from Xcode 26 with UIDesignRequiresCompatibility enabled my app is crashing as it loads the main UIViewController, a subclassed UITabBarController which is being loaded programatically from a Storyboard from another SplashScreen ViewController. On i(Pad)OS 18.5 I get this error: Thread 1: "Could not instantiate class named _TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView_ because no class named _TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView_ was found; the class needs to be defined in source code or linked in from a library (ensure the class is part of the correct target)" On iPadOS 26 I get this error: UIKitCore/UICoreHostingView.swift:54: Fatal error: init(coder:) has not been implemented There is no issue building from Xcode 16.4, regardless of targeted i(Pad)OS.

TipKit: showing a popover tip on a SwiftUI toolbar button
Hi folks, there's currently a known issue in TipKit due to which it won't show popover tips on buttons that are inside a SwiftUI ToolbarItem. For example, if you try this code, the popover tip will not appear: ToolbarItem { Button(action: {...}) { Label("Tap here", systemImage: "gear") } .popoverTip(sampleTip) } There's an easy workaround for this issue. Just apply a style to the button. It can be any style. Some examples are bordered, borderless, plain and borderedProminent. Here's a fixed version of the above code: ToolbarItem { Button(action: {...}) { Label("Tap here", systemImage: "gear") } .buttonStyle(.plain) // Adding this line fixes the issue. .popoverTip(sampleTip) } Hope this helps anyone running into this issue.

Combining NavigationSplitView and TabView in iOS 18
Hi folks, I've used a NavigationSplitView within one of the tabs of my app since iOS 16, but with the new styling in iOS 18 the toolbar region looks odd. In other tabs using e.g. simple stacks, the toolbar buttons are horizontally in line with the new tab picker, but with NavigationSplitView, the toolbar leaves a lot of empty space at the top (see below). Is there anything I can do to adjust this, or alternatively, continue to use the old style? Thanks!

[macOS Sequoia] Using RegisterEventHotkey with option and shift modifiers doesn't working anymore
Hello. In my app, I use RegisterEventHotkey to implement global keyboard shortcuts to trigger actions. Up until macOS Sequoia, I was able to use a keyboard shortcut with option and shift as the modifiers, like option shift 2 (⌥ ⇧ 2). Now, on macOS Sequoia, using RegisterEventHotkey to register a hotkey with those exact modifiers (option and shift), regardless of the key, fails with the error -9868 (eventInternalErr). Is this a documented and wanted change, or is this a bug? Other modifier keys (just command, command option, command shift, command control, control shift, etc), all work. SwiftUI Slider onEditingChanged is unreliable on iOS 26
For information I stumbled upon a regression with SwiftUI Slider on iOS 26. Its onEditingChanged closure might be called twice when interaction ends, with a final Boolean incorrect value of true provided to the closure. As a result apps cannot reliably rely on this closure to detect when an interaction with the slider starts or ends. I filed a feedback under FB20283439 (iOS 26.0 regression: Slider onEditingChanged closure is unreliable).

UITabBarController crashes when editing the items
I'm using one UITabBarController which leads to 6 NavigationController. Therefore the user will get 4 icons displayed and one icon with three points to see the rest of the Navigation Controller. If the user now tries to edit the list and moves one item from the hidden area towards the TabBar at the bottom, the App crashes with the error: Exception NSException * "Can't add self as subview" 0x0000600000d16040 I can see this effect at least on both my apps. If the same compilation is run on a older iOS version, there is no crash. Is there anything I have to take care of the configuration of the TabBar, when it comes to iOS26?

How can we performantly scroll to a target location using TextKit 2?
How can we performantly scroll to a target location using TextKit 2? Hi everyone, I'm building a custom text editor using TextKit 2 and would like to scroll to a target location efficiently. For instance, I would like to move to the end of a document seamlessly, similar to how users can do in standard text editors by using CMD + Down. Background: NSTextView and TextEdit on macOS can navigate to the end of large documents in milliseconds. However, after reading the documentation and experimenting with various ideas using TextKit 2's APIs, it's not clear how third-party developers are supposed to achieve this. Issues Encountered: In my attempts, I have come across the following two issues. Estimated Frames: The frames of NSTextLayoutFragment and NSTextLineFragment are approximate and not precise enough for scrolling unless the text layout fragment has been fully laid out. Laying out all text is expensive: The frames become accurate once NSTextLayoutManager's ensureLayout(for:) method has been called with a range covering the entire document. However, ensureLayout(for:) is resource-intensive and can take seconds for large documents. NSTextView, on the other hand, accomplishes the same scrolling to the end of a document in milliseconds. I've tried using NSTextViewportLayoutController's relocateViewport(to:) without success. It's unclear to me whether this function is intended for a use case like mine. If it is, I would appreciate some guidance on its proper usage. Configuration: I'm testing on macOS Sonoma 14.5 (23F79), Swift (AppKit), Xcode 15.4 (15F31d). I'm working on a multi-platform project written in AppKit and UIKit, so I'm looking for either a single solution that works in both AppKit and UIKit or two solutions, one for each UI framework. Question: How can third-party developers scroll to a target location, specifically the end of a document, performantly using TextKit 2? Steps to Reproduce: The issue can be reproduced using the example project (download from link below) by following these steps: Open the example project. Run the example app on a Mac. The example app shows an uneditable text view in a scroll view. The text view displays a long text. Press the "Move to End of Document" toolbar item. Notice that the text view has scrolled to the bottom, but this took several seconds (~3 seconds on my MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2021). The duration will be shown in Xcode's log. You can open the ExampleTextView.swift file and find the implementation of moveToEndOfDocument(_:). Comment out line 84 where the ensureLayout(_:) is called, rerun the app, and then select "Move to End of Document" again. This time, you will notice that the text view moves fast but does not end up at the bottom of the document. You may also open the large-file.json in the project, the same file that the example app displays, in TextEdit, and press CMD+Down to move to the end of the document. Notice that TextEdit does this in mere milliseconds. "Use location, address and addressRepresentations instead" Is it possible to know what kind of "Address" a MapItem is representing (State, County, Neighborhood etc) after a MKGeocodingRequest? Is it possible to find out the CLRegion or similar of an map item. (Now when we cannot read it from the Placemark)

UIRequiresFullScreen Deprecation
I work on a universal app that targets both iPhone and iPad. Our iPad app currently requires full screen. When testing on the latest iPadOS 26 beta, we see the following warning printed to the console: Update the Info.plist: 1) `UIRequiresFullScreen` will soon be ignored. 2) Support for all orientations will soon be required. It will take a fair amount of effort to update our app to properly support presentation in a resizable window. We wanted to gauge how urgent this change is. Our testing has shown that iPadOS 26 supports our app in a non-resizable window. Can someone from Apple provide any guidance as to how soon “soon” is? Will UIRequiresFullScreen be ignored in iPadOS 26? Will support for all orientations be required in iPadOS 26?

Display .icon files in SwiftUI
Is there a way to display a .icon file in SwiftUI? I want to show the app icon in the app itself but exporting and including the app icon as a PNG feels redundant. This would consume a lot of unnecessary storage especially when including a lot of alternative app icons. There has to be a better way Otherwise I would file a feedback for that Thank you

26.1b4 breaks zoom transition from tabViewBottomAccessory when fullScreenCover item is non-trivial Binding
Filed in Feedback as FB20772137 Zoom transition originating from inside tabViewBottomAccessory, when the binding passed to fullScreenCover's item is a Binding other than a "$-synthesized" binding, the animation fails with the following error (and crucially fails to perform the desired animation): Starting a zoom transition from a nil view will trigger a fallback transition. To get the best possible teansition, be sure to provide a view that's visible and in a window. What I want to do is pass a binding to a property inside an ObservableObject (or @Observable, but it doesn't matter) to hold the item representing the presentation. But this stopped working as of 26.1b4. It worked in 26.1b3 and in 26.0 (and 26.0.1) Here's the gist of code that will reproduce the issue (I've omitted irrelevant details in the interest of brevity): struct ContentView: View { @Binding var presentation: PresentationDestination? @Namespace private var animation var body: some View { // Omitted TabView stuff… .tabViewBottomAccessory { miniPlayer .matchedTransitionSource( id: "player", in: animation ) } .fullScreenCover( item: $presentation, content: { _ in fullScreenPlayer .navigationTransition( .zoom( sourceID: "player", in: animation ) ) }) } As you can see, ContentView takes a Binding to the presentation, but it matters how this binding is constructed. This works: @State private var presentation: PresentationDestination … ContentView(presentation: $presentation) This fails (as does ObservableObject with @Published): @Observable class Router2 { var presentation: PresentationDestination? } … @State private var router2 = Router2() … ContentView(presentation: $router2.presentation) Also, this fails: @State private var presentation: PresentationDestination … ContentView( presentation: .init(get: { presentation }, set: { newValue in presentation = newValue }) ) These differences are unexpected, of course. I consider this a regression in 26.1b4 I should add that if I move the source of the transition to somewhere outside tabViewBottomAccessory things seem to work fine.

Duplicate toolbar item and wrong document name in SwiftUI document based app
My app is a SwiftUI document based app using DocumentGroupLaunchScene. In iOS(iPadOS) 18.4, when it launches, it has duplicate toolbar items, and when I close the current document and open other documents, it adds more duplicates. It also shows a wrong document name, which shows the first opened document name. This issue can be reproduced in the sample code (Building a document-based app with SwiftUI). I have submitted Feedback (FB17025216), but not sure if this is a known bug or if I'm missing anything.
