Hello,
I'm unable to develop for Apple Intelligence on my Mac Studio, M1 Max running macOS 26 beta 1.
The models get downloaded and I can also verify that they exist in /System/Library/AssetsV2/ however the download progress remains stuck at 100%.
Checking console logs shows the process generativeexperiencesd reporting the following:
My device region and language is set to English (India).
Things I've already tried:
Changing language and region to English (US)
Reinstalling macOS
Trying with a different ISP via hotspot.

After more than a year since the announcement, I'm still unable to get this feature working properly and wondering if there are known issues or missing implementation details.
Current Setup:
Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max
iOS: 26 beta 3
Development: Tested on both Xcode 16 and Xcode 26
Implementation: Following the official documentation examples
The Problem:
Semantic search simply doesn't work. Lexical search functions normally, but enabling semantic search produces identical results to having it disabled. It's as if the feature isn't actually processing.
Error Output (Xcode 26):
[QPNLU][qid=5] Error Domain=com.apple.SpotlightEmbedding.EmbeddingModelError Code=-8007 "Text embedding generation timeout (timeout=100ms)"
[CSUserQuery][qid=5] got a nil / empty embedding data dictionary
[CSUserQuery][qid=5] semanticQuery failed to generate, using "(false)"
In Xcode 16, there are no error messages at all - the semantic search just silently fails.
Missing Resources:
The sample application mentioned during the WWDC24 presentation doesn't appear to have been released, which makes it difficult to verify if my implementation is correct.
Would really appreciate any guidance or clarification on the current status of this feature. Has anyone in the community successfully implemented this?
I'm attempting to run a basic Foundation Model prototype in Xcode 26, but I'm getting the error below, using the iPhone 16 simulator with iOS 26. Should these models be working yet? Do I need to be running macOS 26 for these to work? (I hope that's not it)
Error:
Passing along Model Catalog error: Error Domain=com.apple.UnifiedAssetFramework Code=5000 "There are no underlying assets (neither atomic instance nor asset roots) for consistency token for asset set com.apple.MobileAsset.UAF.FM.Overrides" UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=There are no underlying assets (neither atomic instance nor asset roots) for consistency token for asset set com.apple.MobileAsset.UAF.FM.Overrides} in response to ExecuteRequest
Playground to reproduce:
#Playground {
let session = LanguageModelSession()
do {
let response = try await session.respond(to: "What's happening?")
} catch {
let error = error
}
}
Hello,
Are there any plans to compile a python 3.13 version of tensorflow-metal?
Just got my new Mac mini and the automatically installed version of python installed by brew is python 3.13 and while if I was in a hurry, I could manage to get python 3.12 installed and use the corresponding tensorflow-metal version but I'm not in a hurry.
Many thanks,
Alan
I found what might be a bug with enabling Apple Intelligence when switching languages. When my iPhone's language is set to Catalan, the Apple Intelligence is disabled because it is not available for that language. Switching to Spanish doesn't activate it, and it still shows the same message of being unavailable, this time saying not available in Spanish (which is not true). However, it is enabled when the phone is rebooted.
Once at this point, the bug becomes even weirder. Having the iPhone language set to Spanish and with Apple Intelligence on, I switch the language to Catalan, and the feature remains enabled. After I ask a query in Catalan, it surprisingly understands it and works, but then it gets disabled.
Apart from that, as user feedback, I would love to activate Apple Intelligence in an available language other than my device's language. That's how I always used Siri (iPhone in Catalan, Siri in Spanish).
Thanks!

I'm currently trying to add support for Image Playground to our apps. It seems that it's not working in an app that is "Designed for iPad" and runs on a Mac. The modal just shows a spinner and the following is logged to console:

Private sandbox for com.apple.GenerativePlaygroundApp.remoteUIExtension : <none>

ImagePlaygroundViewController.isAvailable returns true, however.
In a "real" Mac Catalyst app, it's working. Just not when the app is actually an iPad app.
Is this a bug?

I have an image based app with albums, except in my app, albums are known as galleries.
When I tried to conform my existing OpenGalleryIntent with @AssistantIntent(schema: .photos.openAlbum), I had to change my existing gallery parameter to be called target in order to fit the predefined shape of this domain.
Previously, my intent was configured to display as “Open Gallery” with the description “Opens the selected Gallery” in the Shortcuts app. After conforming to the photos domain, it displays as “Open Album” with a description “Opens the Provided Album”.
Shortcuts is ignoring my configured title and description now. My code builds, but with the following build warnings:
Parameter argument title of a required Assistant schema intent parameter target should not be overridden
Implementation of the property title of an AppIntent conforming to AssistantSchemaIntent should not be overridden
Implementation of the property description of an AppIntent conforming to AssistantSchemaIntent should not be overridden
Is my only option to change the concept of a Gallery inside of my app into an Album? I don't want to do this... Conceptually, my app aligns well with this domain does, but I didn't consider that conforming to the shape of an AI schema intent would also dictate exactly how it's presented to the user.

I am writing to inquire about content exclusion capabilities within Apple Intelligence, particularly regarding the use of configuration files such as .aiignore or .aiexclude—similar to what exists in other AI-assisted coding tools. These mechanisms are highly valuable in managing what content AI systems can access, especially in environments that involve sensitive code or proprietary frameworks.
I would appreciate it if anyone could clarify whether Apple Intelligence currently supports any exclusion configuration for AI-assisted features. If so, could you kindly provide documentation or guidance on how developers can implement these controls?
If not, Is there any plan to include such feature in future updates?
On the October 10/28 release day of Apple Intelligence I opted in. My iPhone and iPad immediately went to "waitlist" and within 2 to 3 hours were ready to initialize Apple Intelligence.
My MacBook Pro 14" with M3 Pro processor and 18 GB or RAM has been stuck on "preparing" since release day (6 days now).
I've tried numerous workarounds that I found on forums as well as talking to Apple support, who basically had me repeat the workarounds that I found on forums.
I've tried changing region to an area that does not have Apple Intelligence and then back to the US, I've changed Siri language to an unsupported one and back to a supported one, and I have tried disabling background/startup Apps, I've disabled and reenabled Siri. Oh, I've restarted a bunch and let the Mac alone for hours at a time.
I've noticed that my selected Siri voice seems to not download.
Finally, after several chats and calls with Apple support, I was told that it's Beta software, they can't help me, and I should try the developer forums.... so here I am. Any advice?
Itself been 4-5 days my Image playground has showing the “Downloading Support for Image Playground “

Hi everyone,
I’m currently using macOS Version 15.3 Beta (24D5034f), and I’m encountering an issue with Apple Intelligence. The image generation tools seem to work fine, but everything else shows a message saying that it’s “not available at this time.”
I’ve tried restarting my Mac and double-checked my settings, but the problem persists. Is anyone else experiencing this issue on the beta version? Are there any fixes or settings I might be overlooking?
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
iOS 18.2 includes a new feature called Visual Intelligence. If I hold down the Camera Control on my iPhone, I can take a photo of an object and use Google to look up items similar to what I've photographed.
Is there a way to programmatically open this interface within my app? If so, can I see which result the user selects?
Hey dear developers!
This post should be available for the future Siri updates and improvements but also for wishes in this forum so that everyone can share their opinion and idea please stay friendly. have fun! I had already thought about developing a demo app to demonstrate my idea for a better Siri.
My change of many:
Wish Update: Siri's language recognition capabilities have been significantly enhanced. Instead of manually setting the language, Siri can now automatically recognize the language you intend to use, making language switching much more efficient. Simply speak the language you want to communicate in, and Siri will automatically recognize it and respond accordingly. Whether you speak English, German, or Japanese, Siri will respond in the language you choose.

HI,
I've been modifying the Camera sample app found here: https://developer.apple.com/tutorials/sample-apps/capturingphotos-camerapreview ... in the processpreview images, I am calling in to the Vision APis to either detect a person or object, then I'm using the segmentation mask to extract the person and composite them onto a different background with some other filters. I am using coreimage to filter the CIImages, and converting and displaying as a SwiftUI Image. When running on my IPhone, it works fine. When running on my Iphone with the debugger, it crashes within a few seconds... Attached is a screenshot. At the top is an EXC_BAD_ACCESS in libRPAC.dylib`std::__1::__hash_table<std::__1::__hash_value_type<long, qos_info_t>, std::__1::__unordered_map_hasher<long, std::__1::__hash_value_type<long, qos_info_t>, std::__1::hash, std::__1::equal_to, true>, std::__1::__unordered_map_equal<long, std::__1::__hash_value_type<long, qos_info_t>, std::__1::equal_to, std::__1::hash, true>, std::__1::allocator<std::__1::__hash_value_type<long, qos_info_t>>>::__emplace_unique_key_args<long, std::__1::piecewise_construct_t const&, std::__1::tuple<long const&>, std::__1::tuple<>>:
This was working fine a couple of days ago.. Not sure why it's popping up now. Am I correct in interpreting this as an LLDB issue? How do I fix it?
Attempted to download the Adapter Toolkit linked to from https://developer.apple.com/apple-intelligence/foundation-models-adapter/. Failed on all attempts, with a "403 Forbidden" error. I had accepted the agreement on the first attempt. How would we get access please?
If users turn off Apple Intelligence, what happens to apps that leverage Foundation Model Framework?
Would there be a popup automatically shown to a user saying to enable Apple Intelligence if our user has the toggle turned off? Just curious about how that experience looks for both us as developers and users.

When I ran the following code on a physical iPhone device that supports Apple Intelligence, I encountered the following error log.
What does this internal error code mean?
Image generation failed with NSError in a different domain: Error Domain=ImagePlaygroundInternal.ImageGeneration.GenerationError Code=11 “(null)”, returning a generic error instead
let imageCreator = try await ImageCreator()
let style = imageCreator.availableStyles.first ?? .animation
let stream = imageCreator.images(for: [.text("cat")], style: style, limit: 1)
for try await result in stream { // error: ImagePlayground.ImageCreator.Error.creationFailed
_ = result.cgImage
}
I didn't run benchmarks before update, but it seems at least 5x slower. Of course all the LLM work is on remote servers, so is non-intuitive to me this should be happening.
Had updated MacOS and Xcode to 26.1RC at the same time, so can't even say I think it is MacOS or I think it is Xcode.
Before the update the progress indicator for each piece of code might seem to get stuck at the very end (and toggling between Navigators and Coding Assistant) in Xcode UI seemed to refresh the UI and confirm coding complete... but now it seems progress races to 50%, then often is stuck at 75%... well earlier than used to get stuck. And it like something is legitimately processing not just a UI glitch.
I'm wondering if this is somehow tied to visual rendering of the code in the little white window? CMD-TAB into Xcode seems laggy. Xcode is pinning a CPU. Why, this is all remote LLM work?
MacBook Pro 2021 M1 64GB RAM. Went from 26.01 to 26.1RC. Didn't touch any of the betas until RC1.
Apple's Image Playground primarily performs image generation on-device, but can use secure Private Cloud Compute for more complex requests that require larger models. Private Cloud Compute (PCC)
For more complex tasks that require greater computational power than the device can provide, Image Playground leverages Apple's Private Cloud Compute. This system extends the privacy and security of the device to the cloud:
Secure Environment: PCC runs on Apple silicon servers and uses a secure enclave to protect data, ensuring requests are processed in a verified, secure environment.
No Data Storage: Data is never stored or made accessible to Apple when using PCC; it is used only to fulfill the specific request.
Independent Verification: Independent experts are able to inspect the code running on these servers to verify Apple's privacy promises.
