We’re currently working on an OTT-based application where we integrate Google Ad Manager to serve video ads. As part of the ad experience, users often see a “Learn More” CTA (Call to Action) on these ads. As per our current requirement, when a user taps “Learn More” on an ad: • The link should open in Safari (i.e., an external browser) on iOS devices • The Safari browser should ideally open in portrait orientation, as the ad content and layout are optimised for portrait mode However, based on our understanding and technical constraints on iOS, it appears that: • Orientation control is restricted to the app’s own context. • Once Safari is launched via UIApplication.shared.open, we no longer have control over how it behaves in terms of orientation. • iOS system behaviour determines Safari’s orientation based on the device’s physical orientation and Safari’s own internal configuration. Could you please confirm if there’s any supported way (via SDK, deep link config, or otherwise) to enforce portrait orientation in Safari when opening such external URLs from within an iOS app? If this is not technically feasible, we would appreciate any best practices or alternatives you can suggest for ensuring a consistent user experience.

Hey Guys My PWA video playback and even youtube videos stopped working after updating iOS to 26.0.1. The video thumnails appear fine and if i try to play the video, it remains stuck. If i restart the phone, the video plays for a second in the PWA and then stops again and entire app gets stuck. Request apple team to fix this issue at the earliest. This is hampering all my iOS users who install the PWA on their device homescreen and use it as app. FYI strangely EVERYTHING WORKS FINE ON iOS SAFARI browser including videos playback If i open it as a web app. so this seems like a specific PWA issue on latest ios 26.0.1

Hello Apple Developer Community, I'm experiencing an issue with PDF link interaction in WKWebView that appears to be specific to iOS 26. Problem Description: I'm loading a PDF in WKWebView.The links may vary widely and are not necessarily DPF, so I need to load them using WKWebView. On iOS versions prior to 26, links within the PDF are clickable and work correctly. On iOS 26, the same links are not clickable (no response when tapped). Expected Behavior: PDF links should remain clickable and functional across all iOS versions. What I've Tried: Tested opening the PDF directly in Safari on iOS 26 - links still not clickable This suggests the issue might be related to changes in the system's PDF rendering engine Reproduction Steps: Load the PDF URL in WKWebView Navigate to page 12 Attempt to tap the link Environment: Test Devices: iPhone 15(26.0 ) / iPhone 16 Pro Max(18.0.1 ) Xcode: 16.2 Questions: Is this an intentional change in iOS 26's PDF handling or WKWebView? He is using iPad 10th to access the web component but when he tries to scroll it and it's very slow on iPad 10th. His iPad OS version is 17.7 and this issue also can be reproduced on our iPad 10th with iPad OS 18.0.1. But if we use iPad 9th with iPad OS 17.7 and 18.0.1, things are fine and there isn't any performance issue. We developer took some time investigating and found it's because of iPad 10th's safari takes longer time to paint each frame. On iPad 9th, it needs nearly 10ms to paint each frame. But on iPad 10, it needs nearly 70ms to paint each frame. Also we can provide simple code for you to check the different. We tried to simulate the repaint when user is scrolling. You can see on iPad 9th, it will be 2~3ms but on iPad 10th, it will be more than 10ms for each frame. test-ipad10.html It has been happening on iPad 10th only with iPad OS 17.6/17.7/18.0. This will be a big problem for us because it means on the iPad 10th (the latest iPad, non Pro or Air), it can't be used. Question Is there anyone knowing similar issue with this one? And do you know how to solve it on iPad 10?

I’m observing an intermittent issue with a Safari Web Extension on macOS 15.7 (Safari 26.0.1). After installing the Safari extension from the App Store, it appears under Settings → Extensions, but the enable checkbox is often missing. Sometimes, after restarting Safari multiple times, the checkbox becomes visible. However, even when I manage to enable the extension, reopening Safari often hides the checkbox again. However, I don't see this issue in safari 26 with macOS 26 I’d like to know if this behavior is a known issue with Safari 26 or macOS 15.7? Any workaround available?

The issue of fixed elements with { bottom: 0 } moving up when scrolling still persists. It seems to be a general issue with the IOS 26 release. It affects other browser too. I tested on browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Bravo. With the exception of Edge, all the others display the behavior. Device: iPhone 15 Pro IOS Version: 26.0.1

hi Testing on OS26 Public Beta 6. In Safari, if you enter x homepage and scroll, the tab bar sticks to the bottom and moves. Make the keyboard appear in the search window When scrolling down on the Safari homepage again, the issue of not being able to stick to the bottom appears. Is it because the liquid glass UI was applied this time? and safari bug? Please let me know if I'm missing anything

Hello, I've got Smart App Banner set up on my website. However, I want to be able to measure the traffic coming from this banner to the app store / app (i.e. measure impressions/downloads). Apple documentation (https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/view-app-analytics/manage-campaigns/) says you can set up a campaign link and use it in the Smart Banner to track those who download / open the app store page using your smart banner (so that we can get attribution). However, there is no documentation at all in terms of how this should be added to the tag when implementing a Smart App Banner. I've tried so many different variations and none have tracked downloads. This includes a structure based on an example taken from WWDC from a few years back which also did not work. I would appreciate any help!

I'm building a progressive web app (PWA) and came to the conclusion that almost nobody knows that this feature exists - Add to Home Screen. Not many people even understand what a PWA is or that you can add it to the home screen. This feels unnatural compared to installing an app from a store. Why do we make it so hard for users? Could we not make this easier by having the ability to call this installation or show an install notification? Right now, when users visit a PWA on iOS, there's no way for developers to let them know they can install it. The "Add to Home Screen" option is tucked away in the Share menu, and most users never find it. I'd really like to be able to show them a friendly prompt. Comparing to other browsers, this is possible via the beforeinstallprompt event. This would make a huge difference for user experience. Right now the only way is to show iOS users a separate set of instructions with screenshots, which feels clunky compared to what's possible on other platforms. I'm curious - is there any reason why this hasn't been added to Safari yet? Other browsers have supported this for years now. Is there any progress being made on this, or is it being considered for the roadmap? It would be really helpful to know if this is something that will be worked on in the future. I know there's a lot on the roadmap, but this would really help developers create better installation experiences for our users. Thanks for considering this!

I'm a web developer of WebRTC based web app for video and audio calls. After updating to iOS 26.1 beta I noticed, that my app can't use microphone anymore. When I'm calling to getUserMedia with audio set to true, Safari returns error "No AVAudioSessionCaptureDevice device". Other WebRTC demo apps also can't access microphone on this firmware. And maybe it's connected somehow, but safari can't detect connected AirPods Pro 2 as an input device. So, this bug brakes any WebRTC app, that uses microphones.

What I am trying to do I am building a browser-based exam proctoring platform that runs in Safari and Chrome on iPad. I need to detect when a candidate opens another app or browser tab in Slide Over (the floating panel) while the exam is running in the background. This is a pure web app - no native wrapper, no MDM. What I've already tried I tried listening to window blur and focus events neither fires when Slide Over is triggered on Chrome. I tried document.visibilitychange - same result, it never fires during Slide Over. I tried the resize event but it is completely inconsistent on iPadOS Chrome. For Split View I am computing the ratio of window.innerWidth to window.screen.width and flagging below 0.80 as a likely split. That works. But Slide Over doesn't change the viewport at all - the exam tab stays full width in the background. So my ratio check is completely blind to it. My question Is there any JavaScript API, browser event, visualViewport property, or any other web-accessible signal that fires or changes when iPadOS enters Slide Over mode — specifically from a page running inside Safari or Chrome (WKWebView)? Even an indirect signal would help. If there's truly no way to detect this from a web page today, is there a recommended pattern or workaround that others have used? I've seen the interaction heartbeat approach (flagging when no pointerdown arrives for N seconds) but that's too noisy for an exam context where a candidate may be reading a long question.

This workflow requires multiple taps and interrupts the user's flow. Proposed Solution: Add a quick search engine selector to the bottom toolbar in Safari (adjacent to the Smart Search field). Tapping this control would display a compact menu allowing users to instantly switch between available search engines (Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Yahoo, Ecosia, etc.) without leaving the browser. I'm not loving the huge Favorites icons in Safari on MacOS 26, is there a way to reduce the size of them so that we can see more favorites on the list without scrolling down?

I'm encountering an issue with front camera video recordings via browser (Safari/Chrome) on devices running iOS/iPadOS 18 and above: On iPad, the recorded video appears upside down. On iPhone, the recorded video is rotated 90 degrees. The rear camera functions correctly without orientation issues. This problem seems specific to browser-based recordings, as the native Camera app records videos with the correct orientation. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Is there a known workaround or fix? The preview while recording is fine, the recorded video is oriented incorrectly.

Hello. I am using Cordova Webview to select a photo from the album, save it locally, and then pass the saved path to the web for display. It displayed correctly up to OS 26.3.x, but starting from OS 26.4.x, I am unable to retrieve images from local paths. Part displayed in Cordova Webview I have also confirmed the existence of the corresponding file in the src path. Are there any known bugs or solutions? Thank you.

When using passkeys stored in iCloud Keychain (Passwords app) via Passkey Autofill in browsers other than Safari, the userVerification parameter is ignored and user verification (UV) is not performed. As a result, relying party servers that require userVerification = required fail validation because the UV flag is not set, causing passkey authentication to fail. This issue occurs when the following setting is disabled: Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Use Face ID For → Password AutoFill The issue is reproducible only with the following combination: Non-Safari browsers (e.g. Chrome) Passkeys stored in iCloud Keychain (Passwords app) Passkey Autofill The issue does not occur in the following cases: Safari with passkeys stored in any credential manager Non-Safari browsers using credential managers other than iCloud Keychain Steps to Reproduce: Go to Settings → General → Autofill & Passwords, and enable the Passwords app under “Autofill From”. Go to Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Use Face ID For, and disable “Password AutoFill”. Open Chrome and navigate to https://webauthn.io Enter a username and tap “Register” to create a passkey using the Passwords app (iCloud Keychain). On webauthn.io, go to Advanced Settings → Authentication Settings, and set “User Verification” to “Required”. Reload the page, tap the input field, and perform Passkey Autofill. During user testing we found that the tab title and tab URL properties are empty when obtaining the set of open windows via windows.get() after a Safari restart.
