Hello from Leipzig, Germany!
I noticed that when vertically scrolling in Safari 26 on my Mac, the content of the website I am currently working on is visible in the tab and URL bar with a liquid glass effect. I then looked at various other websites. Some websites have an opaque top bar. Some websites have a transparent top bar where content is visible when scrolling. On the Apple website, the top bar is opaque in light mode but transparent in dark mode. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to control this behavior. Has anyone found out more about this?

When our Safari Web Extension makes a api request from its background script (registered via "scripts" in manifest.json, e.g., "background": { "scripts": ["js/background.bundle.js"] }) to our authenticated API endpoint (https://api-domain/user), the Cookie header is not included in the request. This occurs only when the extension is running within a non-default Safari User Profile. This causes our API to treat the user as unauthenticated. The exact same extension code, manifest, and API call work correctly (Cookie header is present and user is authenticated) when the extension is running in the Default Safari User Profile.
We are encountering a download issue in Safari 18.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.2 where file downloads initiated by our AngularJS application (such as Excel exports) are silently blocked.
There are no errors in the browser console, and the download does not occur.
Interestingly, after testing on Safari 18.3 with Sequoia 15.3, the downloads worked as expected.
However, the problem reappeared on Safari 18.4 with Sequoia 15.4.
We suspect that recent changes in Safari’s security or download handling may be preventing downloads triggered via asynchronous JavaScript (e.g., AJAX calls) that are not initiated directly by user interaction.
We would appreciate any insights, suggestions, or possible workarounds from the community. Looking forward to your guidance on this matter.
Hello,
When I view my website (lasaluade) on iphone or ipad the top of my page bodies are cut off (3-4 first lines). However, on PC, Mac or Android everything is OK (see screenshots).
For the record, I built this site with Wordpress and Divi Builder, and I've the same result on Safari and Chrome.
Not being a developer, I don't know where to look (I just think it's iOS-related).
Have you already had this problem? Do you have any ideas?
Thanks for your help!

I am using a custom PAC file in network settings and till now with Sonoma & Sequoia OS, it was working perfectly fine and I was able to redirect traffic to my proxy server.
After upgrading to MacOS Tahoe, this stopped working completely. What is happening now is no url is opening on my machine with Chrome & Firefox browser, but somehoe Safari is working. After checking, I found that my deployed network extension is intercepting traffic and allowing it to pass. But still, the pac file is not working.
Are there any changes done in MacOS Tahoe regarding this PAC file? How can I resolve this issue?

Python version 3.9.1
Selenium version 4.25.0
Safari version 18.1.1
I want to operate Safari using Selenium. For this purpose, I would like to set the UserAgent to iOS and change the viewport. What should I do? The following is the content programmed with the Chrome driver. I would like to achieve this using the Safari driver.
import time,os
import chromedriver_binary
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver import Safari
from selenium.webdriver.safari.options import Options as SafariOptions
from selenium.webdriver.common.by import By
from selenium.webdriver.support.ui import WebDriverWait
from selenium.webdriver.support import expected_conditions as EC
from selenium.webdriver.support.select import Select
from selenium.webdriver.chrome import service
# selenium 4
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.service import Service as ChromeService
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.options import Options
from webdriver_manager.chrome import ChromeDriverManager
driver = webdriver.Chrome(service=ChromeService(ChromeDriverManager().install()),options = chrome_options)
# iPhone 13 params
viewport = {
"width": 390,
"height": 844,
"deviceScaleFactor": 3,
"mobile": True
}
#Chrome setting
ua = "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 15_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/15.4 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1"
driver.execute_cdp_cmd("Emulation.setDeviceMetricsOverride", viewport)
# change user agent
driver.execute_cdp_cmd("Emulation.setUserAgentOverride", {"userAgent": ua})
# ページにアクセス
driver.get("https://hogehoge")
I'm currently experimenting to add 3d stereo images in HEIC format to my daily Mars Rover Images website https://areo.info/mars20 which can be opened on a Vision Pro. Only a few images are yet converted into that mode, those on the sol 1411 page.
As I'm currently only working in the Vision Pro Simulator from Xcode, no real 3d effect if of course visible and I'm curious if anyone using the real hardware can confirm that the images are working.
Especially the eye distance correction is important to know about as the Mars Rover camera has a much wider pupil distance than humans and while I entered that distance in the conversion tool, I'm not sure if it worked well. So feedback is welcome!
For those who like to try to create stereo images themselves: I used https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ImageIO/writing-spatial-photos to create a HEIC file from two JPEGs.
Hello,
We are setting up Apple Sign In in one of our non production websites but we keep getting a "oauth code says expired or revoked" error. We have created a brand new service ID and key for this but are still getting this error.

We have an app store app that hosts an internal webserver we use as a proxy and it works for a period until iOS 18.3.x decides our cert is no longer valid at which point our customer have reinstall the app. This has only become a problem on iOS18.3. We publish the self-signed with out app, and it is valid and accepted until it's not. We know the cert is valid and our implementation of the local proxy has not changed. If we install a cert on the device and trust it, then the app will start behaving normally again without reinstall. We have replicated this locally and the error we are seeing is:
Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1200 "An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made." I am calling fetch with a POST on page1 in Safari. No special cache parameters on the fetch call.
The response from the server is a 303 redirect to page2
The second page -- page2 -- is in my browser's cache with cache-control "public, max-age=31536000, immutable".
For some reason, the page2 redirect is causing a server hit to re-GET the second page every time instead of pulling from cache.
If I instead directly get the second page by doing a fetch on page2, there is no server hit.
If I do this on Chrome or Firefox, it behaves as I would expect, pulling page2 from the cache with no server hit.
In case it matters, the fetch is coming from within an iFrame. Also, if I change the original POST to a GET, the problem still happens.
I am using a pretty old version of Safari on my Mac, so I could chalk it up to that, but I am getting the same behavior with Safari on my iPhone with iOS 18.3.2
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open the Bing search page in Safari (example URL: https://www.bing.com/search?q=webkit&form=APIPH1&PC=APPL).
Pinch-zoom in or out, then return the page to exactly 100% zoom.
Rotate the device from portrait to landscape orientation.
Observe that the page is incorrectly scaled to a value other than 100%.
Rotate the device back to portrait orientation.
The page remains at the incorrect zoom level.
Expected Result:
After returning the page to 100% zoom, changing orientation should keep the zoom level at exactly 100% in both portrait and landscape modes.
Actual Result:
After returning to 100% zoom, rotating to landscape changes the zoom to a non-100% value, and rotating back to portrait retains the incorrect zoom level.
MacOS: 12 ( Monterrey )
Safari: 17.6
Demo Site: https://applepaydemo.apple.com/
At the bottom where the Apple Pay button should appear, I see a warning something like "This browser doesn't support Apple Pay, please use safari" along with a link to requirements for apple pay.
All the requirements are fulfilled, OS and Safari's version are above the minimum required.
Link was opened in Safari.
And the other thing is if I open the same site in Chrome, I can see the apple pay button and when I click on it a QR appears which is the expected behaviour.
How to resolve this?
I'm not sure if this is even the right place to ask this, or voice this complaint if there's no fix. If not, please direct me where to go.
I'm trying to switch all my development over to Safari, but the tab sidebar is driving me absolutely insane.
Let's say I have a bunch of tab groups expanded, and I collapse the sidebar to focus on the webapp I am building. When I toggle to show the sidebar again, every single tab group is collapsed.
Why is it 2 clicks to see the tabs in the sidebar?
Even with zero tab groups, and just tabs in the workspace, if you collapse the sidebar it'll collapse the list of tabs.
Is there some hidden setting for this? Who do we have to complain to?

While implementing Apple Maps into our web application, I have a scenario where I want to be able to drag and move some of my custom annotations around. While that is working, when "picking up" the annotation before dragging it, there is an animation which I believe is to represent the human interaction of picking up a pin from a map, I would like to cancel that animation and thought that would be possible by calling preventDefault() in the emitted long-press event, which the documentation states that annotations should emit if they are draggable. The thing is that I don't get this event to emit when long pressing an annotation. So I believe that I have found a bug.
It's in this paragraph in the documentation https://developer.apple.com/documentation/mapkitjs/handling-map-events#Respond-to-map-interaction-events
A long press occurs on the map outside an annotation. A long press may be the beginning of a panning or pinching gesture on the map. You can prevent the gesture from starting by calling the preventDefault() method of the event. Annotations need to be draggable to dispatch long-press events.
In anybody else experiencing this or do you see any clear fix for this? Maybe there is another way to cancel that "picking up the annotation for dragging" animation. I have seemed to try anything else.
Hi, now we could try WebGPU by manually enabling it in feature flags in no matter Safari or Safari technology preview on macOS.
But, do we know when this WebGPU feature would be enabled by default or any plan to enable it by default in Safari?
Thanks!

We would like to confirm the unsubscribe flow related to recurring payment processing.
When a user unsubscribes, does your system send any notification to us?
If no notification is provided, we will not be able to detect the unsubscribe event and will continue to send recurring payment requests to the gateway periodically. Would this cause any issues?
We would appreciate it if you could share the specific unsubscribe flow with us.
Thank you in advance for your support.
I'm referring to the following:
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/automaticassessmentconfiguration
I can't find this information anywhere. I'm wondering if I can enable and disable this function in Safari or other browsers on my website.

Safari Extension Error: “Non-persistent background content cannot listen to webRequest events.” after macOS 15.4 / Safari 18.4 Update
We’re seeing the following error in the Safari Extensions tab after updating to macOS 15.4 and Safari 18.4:
“Non-persistent background content cannot listen to webRequest events.”
This error did not appear prior to the update, and we haven’t found any official documentation stating that webRequest API is no longer supported in Safari.
In our extension (Manifest V3), we are using the webRequest.onHeadersReceived callback to intercept response headers and read updated cookies.
While the functionality itself still works as expected. we’re able to access the response headers and this error is now shown in the Extension settings page.
We are not seeing this issue in other browsers (Chrome, Firefox) using the same Manifest V3 setup.
Is there any plan to deprecate webRequest support in Manifest V3 for Safari?
We’d appreciate any clarification or guidance on how to handle this going forward.
I have multiple web views of the same domain that share the same local storage, as expected.
One of them though, is loading a .webarchive file.
The web archive is of the same domain, and is loaded using the same base URL.
For some reason, in most cases, the local storage is not shared with this web view when loading the web archive, although if I make that same web view load the actual live web page it does share local storage.
I say in most cases, because for some users it works as expected, but for a significant portion of users it isn't sharing local storage.
I think that the main difference between working and not is iOS version. iOS 17 seems to be able to share the local storage but iOS 18 does not. I can't find anything related in the release notes of iOS 18 versions.
There is nothing in the documentation for load(_:mimeType:characterEncodingName:baseURL:), or the header file, that explains anything specific about local storage and webarchive loading.
Does anyone know for sure how local storage is handled when a webarchive is loaded into a web view, and did something change with iOS 18 in regards to this?
