We are using WebKit in our app and recently started noticing a crash occurring on iOS 17 and earlier versions. The crash log shows the following error:

After investigating, we found that this crash was addressed in this https://github.com/WebKit/WebKit/pull/24778 WebKit PR. However, our app is still crashing for users on older iOS versions where this fix is not available.
Is there a known workaround to prevent this crash on affected iOS versions? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I integrated Apple Pay on the web following the documentation, and verified that the payment works successfully in the sandbox environment using Safari on iOS and Mac. Later, I launched the Apple Pay payment code on a third-party web page that supports Apple Pay, and scanned the code with the camera of an eligible iOS device. The camera then displayed the Apple Pay button; after tapping it, a brief pop-up message saying ‘Service Unavailable’ appeared, and then it closed automatically. How can I troubleshoot and resolve this issue?

I want to confirm the specifications and behavior of Safari.
We have a system built on Microsoft Azure that uses Azure AD B2C for authentication.
When we logging in, there is a phone authentication feature where a call is made to the registered phone number.
However, this phone authentication does not work properly only on iPhone's Safari. The specific situation is listed below:
When performing phone authentication on iPhone's Safari, a call is made from Azure AD B2C, and pressing the # button on the Safari screen can be done. But then, it transitions to an error screen.
We tried multiple iPhone devices and multiple iOS versions, but the result was the same.
But when accessing the system on a PC, and performing phone authentication, it works without any errors.
Also when we use browsers other than Safari (for example, Google Chrome and Firefox) on the iPhone, the phone authentication works without any errors, too.
Even with Safari, if the device displaying the login screen and the device making the call are different, phone authentication works without any errors, too.(it fails if they are the same device).
We reached out Microsoft about this issue, and they responded that:
The Azure resource called FrontDoor at the front end of Azure AD B2C supports the HTTP/2 protocol, and HTTP/2 protocol is used in communication with Safari.
In Safari's HTTP/2 communication, when a call is received while the screen is displayed, a reset packet is sent to the web server (in this case, the web server is FrontDoor).
This interrupts the session, causing a session termination error on the Azure AD B2C side, and phone authentication fails.
Therefore, we would like to ask you the following two points:
In HTTP/2 communication, does the Safari browser send a reset packet to the web server when it receives a phone call?
If so, what is the cause of this behavior? And are there any measures to prevent the reset packet from being sent?

Bit of an odd one here, just keen to understand if it’s just me or a more generic issue.
For all other apps, I can drag the icon from the dock to place into stage manager left, centre or right.
However when I try to do the same with Safari (and only Safari), it just doesn’t work at all.
I can repeat this 100%, has been an issue with 26.0, 26.1 and now 26.2. Can confirm this isn’t a problem on my 11” M4 iPad pro running same O/S.

Good morning fellow developers,
For a while i am struggeling with providing sound to my users on IOS (Safari on Mac is no problem and every other device is not a problem) (we have an existing phone system and made a chat as well), the case is very simple: the notification sound is only for users who are logged in and online for chat.
i have tried multiple things:
Audio play with javascript (start with mute, play when user clicks a button so the sound is familiar, play when user clicks a button and directly pause it and continue when needed)
PWA: the dashboard has been made available as pwa and notifications using google firebase. The popup does show for notifcations to be allowed (and receiving the notifications does work on any other device) But any IOS device cannot register.
The information i find is that notifications were supported with 16.4 or higher but also have been deprecated around IOS 17, auto play is not allowed.
We have an app in development for our product as well were we will have a notification which will handle this, but that is not the solution we can use now.
Long story, short question: is it still somehow possible to push a notification to the user when using the PWA or play a sound in the browser (based on an ajax function). The app/website wont be in the background, so it will always be on the screen.

I have hear such method is possible for our type of service which deals with real life goods.

We're embedding the Power BI reports into our portal by using JS library. While testing them, we found that mobile layout of the reports don't work as we expect on iOS devices (tested in Chrome and Safari). There are two principals issues: 1) the site is automatically refreshed when the users filter the data (we reduced them to lower expression) and 2) the site also crashes after a while using the dashboard by applying different filters.

I want users not to see the system context menu when long-pressing text on a page in Safari on iOS. I found on MDN that the CSS property -webkit-touch-callout: none; can achieve this. But in reality, it doesn't really work.

We attempted to perform automated testing (using Python) on an 11th generation iPad (iPad A16) using Selenium 4.38.0, but we were unable to capture webpage screenshots using the function "driver.save_screenshot(filename)". However, this issue did not occur on an iPad Air 4. During our debugging of the "WebDriver.py" script, we found that after issuing the screenshot command, a status value of 500 was returned, accompanied by an "unknown error".
We have communicated with the Selenium team and provided the main Python code(https://github.com/SeleniumHQ/selenium/issues/16555). They suggested that the problem likely lies within the SafariWebDriver, rather than in the "remote_webdriver.py" file.
Additionally, we tried using the SafariWebDriver provided by Safari Technology Preview, but the problem persisted.
Hi! My team and I are developing an education platform. One of our features is a auto-play flashcard feature where users can listen to their flashcards hands free.
We are having an issue where the autoplay wont work for users with iPhone's. I think the rule is that user's are supposed to give consent to the auto-play. We do make the user hit play before it starts so that should be the "constent" but it's still not working. Anyone have ideas?

My app has been published by 2 months now I still I cant get Universal Links to work.
I checked a lot of docs as well as videos about setting up universal links. Everyone with clear steps:
Add the well-known json file to the server. Already validated by AASA web validator.
Add the Associated domain on project capabilities, with the Web page root only. Eg: applinks:example:com.
Install the app and trying clicking a link from notepad. Or instead make a long press to deploy contextual menu to see if my app is on the selectable options to open the link.
My app is not been open in any of my attempts and the console always trying to use safari.
I had a couple of screenshots of my testing. I really need help with this.

On Safari, two Smart App Banners appear for the same webpage when the iOS app is installed.
Cause:
• Banner 1: Native Apple Smart App Banner, automatically triggered by Safari via AASA / Universal Links.
• Banner 2: Smart banner injected by a third-party SDK (Branch.io).
• Both operate independently, resulting in duplicate banners.
Finding:
Safari’s native Smart App Banner behavior is system-controlled and cannot be disabled programmatically using web rules or JavaScript while Universal Links are enabled.
Question:
Is this behavior expected by design?
Is there any Apple-supported way to suppress the native Smart App Banner when using a third-party banner, or is the recommended approach to rely on only one banner system?
If "Not Secure Connection Warnings" is enabled in the Settings > App > Safari, are no HTTP connections allowed? Setting NSAppTransportSecurity does not seem to apply either.

I have a visionOS app using Apple's WebView and WebPage to display web content. When viewing a live YouTube stream last night, YouTube put up the warning in the area that would have the chat window:
Oh no!
It looks like you're using an older version of your browser. Please update it to use live chat.
Anyone know if YouTube is generating this from the server based on the WebPage's user agent string, from Javascript running in the browser engine, or something else?
Anyone know if and how it is possible to resolve this?

We have a Smart App Banner (including App Clip) on our website and have noticed today that the banner's background color has changed. It no longer has the default white background and blue button color, instead it has a background color that matches our page's background, and even the color of the button has changed.
What's interesting is that we have not triggered this change at all. The colors seemingly changed by themselves.
Looking at the Apple Documentation, no customization options are mentioned. Searching the web, the theme-color meta tag is mentioned in relation to this, however we haven't even included that tag on our page.
What is triggering this color change then and how can we influence it?

YouTube now requires a Referer to be sent to be able to embed Youtube videos, otherwise the videos won't work. But WKWebView doesn't send a Referer when using a custom scheme, so Youtube videos stopped working in that case.
This affects Ionic apps, both using Cordova or Capacitor. There's an open issue for Cordova and another one for Capacitor. In these apps, the app is served using a custom scheme like capacitor://localhost or ionic://localhost.
I tried modifying the Ionic WebView source code to force adding a referrer to the URL loaded using WKWebView's loadRequest:

[_engineWebView loadRequest:request]
But the Referer is still not sent in the Requests, I guess because the app is using a custom scheme (e.g. capacitor://localhost). However, if I modify this code to force loading an "online URL" (using https) instead of capacitor://localhost, then the my.test.app Referer is sent to the requests.
Is there any way to make WKWebView send a Referer when using a custom scheme?

We have a native application with a webview part.
When we open the app, we load webview resources in a false foreground. The webview communicates with the native part to query local variables, among other things. We have noticed that for the past few weeks, when the biometric component is presented to enter the fingerprint or faceId, while the component is displayed, the webview does not respond.
We do not see the calls made by the webview, nor can we respond to them. Even if you open the Safari debugger, the webview does not respond UNTIL you close the biometric component in the native part.
This has created a big problem in our app, and we wanted to know if it is an issue you had on your radar.

Hi, it seems that with iOS26 the system displays two entries in the screentime report for apps that use a WKWebView: one for the app itself and one for the website that was displayed in the app. We don't see this behaviour in iOS18.7.
I'm reseaching how to disable the recording for the webviews in one of our apps (written in Swift with UIKit).
The STWebpageController looked promising, especially the field suppressUsageRecording, but the whole class is poorly documented.
We initialized it with the bundle identifier of the app and set the url of the wkwebview as the url in STWebpageController. It looks a bit like this:

As the title suggests, given today’s overpowered device performance, shouldn’t Safari and WKWebView allow repainting during window resizing? Currently, all WKWebView-based apps pause page rendering during resize. When a user double-clicks the drag region, the sequence goes: pause rendering → enlarge or shrink the window → leave a blank area → repaint the page. The whole process feels inelegant—especially on devices that support ProMotion.
