Since iOS 18.1 launched as a beta, we've been getting reports from end users on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max specifically. They're reporting that our WebView is unable to load our local HTML content. I'm curious if anyone else has had their app or users run into this issue? So far I've tried installing the most recent XCode Beta 16B5014f and installed an 18.1 emulator, but our app worked fine. It's also working fine on all my real devices, but we don't have a 15 Pro to test on. I'm curious if this is related to the processor on these devices and how they are intended to support Apple's new AI coming in 18.1.

Sometimes the Safari App Extension i'm developing does not show up in my Safari Extensions unless i change mu bundle identifier to some unique name. Even if I delete all other apps i've built with the same (and different) bundle ID, the extension is still does not show up. The only solution for me is to always change the bundle ID. For example: Now it is "kopyl.tab-finder-10" If i change it to "kopyl.tab-finder-11", the extension does show up in the Safari extensions settings page again. Is there any other way to fix it?

I don't know why but all of a sudden when I build the extension it just doesn't load in Safari. The build executes fine but the extension doesn't load. Sometimes, through trying different combinations of clearing the build folder, building, archiving, ... it suddenly loads. And the next time I build again it doesn't load properly. So I can't do any work on it or test anything. I don't know why all of a sudden I am getting this behavior. It looks like engineers at Apple are constantly trying to overcomplicate a process that is at least ten times simpler in any other browser. This is ridiculous. Is this what our annual fee goes to? And they don't even provide any support for that. Several times I've tried to get some help here just to have to spend hours upon hours to figure it out by myself. I'm so tired of this.

Hi, we have PWA for which we´ve built a wrapper using PWA Builder tool and we are experiencing an issue with apple sign in. When we try to redirect the user to "https://appleid.apple.com/auth/authorize?...params...", a bottom sheet login prompt appears and only once the user signs in using the prompt he is then redirected to the url where he needs to sign in again and then we get the callback. We want to get rid of that bottom sheet prompt. Hi everyone, I’m building a React Native iOS app where I’m integrating Wazo (native WebRTC) and Jitsi (WebView / WebRTC). Use case: Wazo is used to maintain a background call session (mainly signaling + audio keep-alive). Jitsi is used in the foreground for video calls. Problem: When Jitsi starts, it takes control of the microphone and camera. The Wazo call disconnects after ~5 minutes (likely due to media / audio session conflict). Even if Wazo audio/video is muted or tracks are disabled, the session still drops. My questions: Is it officially supported or recommended to run two WebRTC stacks (Wazo + Jitsi) simultaneously on iOS? Can Wazo stay connected without active audio/video tracks while Jitsi uses mic/camera? Is there a way to release Wazo media streams temporarily (but keep signaling alive) while Jitsi is loading or active? Are there any AVAudioSession / background mode limitations on iOS that make this impossible by design? If this is not supported, what is the recommended architecture (single WebRTC pipeline, switching media ownership, etc.)? DNR rules redirecting to an extension path lead to an error page: “Safari can’t open the page. The error is: “The operation couldn’t be completed. Please kindly improve the Safari browser side bar implementation further along with what The Browser Company has done with their Arc browser. Arc is about to retire soon too and they're willing to sell their SwiftUI code perhaps too for a decent pile of dollars, not the Jony Ive piles at least it should not. The toggle for side bar is nice and works perfect though!

I'm working on a Safari web extension that uses the nativeMessaging facility to communication with native code. When I want to notify the javascript extension from the embedding application, I use SFSafariApplication::dispatchMessage. As per the documentation, this call ... ensures that Safari is launched and that your extension is running before delivering the message. Everything works fine when the background script is running. However, after the background script gets unloaded at some point in time (non persistent background page, default behavior for a manifest V3 extension), the background script is not reloaded by the message from the native app (background script still appears unloaded in the developer menu of Safari, double-checked using a counter stored in browser.storage.local incremented on message reception). In this case, the completion handler of the application gets no error (error == nil) as if the message was correctly delivered. I was able to reproduce this behavior with the sample app delivered for WWDC20 (after upgrading the manifest from v2 to v3 to make it non-persistent). Is it supposed to work ? What I'm doing wrong ?

I'm building a progressive web app (PWA) and came to the conclusion that almost nobody knows that this feature exists - Add to Home Screen. Not many people even understand what a PWA is or that you can add it to the home screen. This feels unnatural compared to installing an app from a store. Why do we make it so hard for users? Could we not make this easier by having the ability to call this installation or show an install notification? Right now, when users visit a PWA on iOS, there's no way for developers to let them know they can install it. The "Add to Home Screen" option is tucked away in the Share menu, and most users never find it. I'd really like to be able to show them a friendly prompt. Comparing to other browsers, this is possible via the beforeinstallprompt event. This would make a huge difference for user experience. Right now the only way is to show iOS users a separate set of instructions with screenshots, which feels clunky compared to what's possible on other platforms. I'm curious - is there any reason why this hasn't been added to Safari yet? Other browsers have supported this for years now. Is there any progress being made on this, or is it being considered for the roadmap? It would be really helpful to know if this is something that will be worked on in the future. I know there's a lot on the roadmap, but this would really help developers create better installation experiences for our users. Thanks for considering this!

Dear Apple Developer Support, We are currently developing a system that requires the ability to edit Japanese vertical text within the Safari browser on iPhone. During our investigation, we encountered an issue that matches the following WebKit bug: 283620 – Caret Positioning Issues in Vertical Writing Mode We understand that this issue is being addressed in the following pull request: https://github.com/WebKit/WebKit/pull/39939 However, it appears that a complete fix has not yet been implemented. Given this situation, we would like to confirm the following: Is there any known workaround for this issue in iOS 17.5 or iOS 18.5 (the latest versions as of now)? If a workaround exists, could you please provide details? If not, could you share the expected timeline for a full resolution of this issue? Although this appears to be an open-source WebKit issue, we are reaching out to Apple because WebKit is tightly integrated with iOS and Safari, and ultimately delivered as part of the iPhone experience. Problem As the title says, Safari lost all my tabs once I updated to macOS 15.4. I do of course have "Safari opens with: All windows from last session" set. This has been my default for many years. Past Mitigation In the past I had a script that I could use to backup ~/Library/Safari that would save all my bookmarks and tabs. Unfortunately they made this method of backup non-function sometime around when tab groups were introduced. Suggestion Fortunately my tab groups are still intact. But this sort of problem doesn't give me a lot of confidence. I haven't had something like this happen in a while, but when it does happen, it's quite frustrating. Apple really needs to recognize that this sort of thing can and will happen and they should make it easier for users to manually save/restore their tabs. Problem with forums To add insult to injury, as I was typing this message in the forum, I decided to select "Edit Bookmarks"... which proceeded to replace the current window with my bookmarks, thereby losing my post! It did this without warning of page content changes (which I get from most other websites). I felt somewhat relieved that the forum had recognized a previous draft and offered for me to continue. However, when I selected it, it brought me back to an old post... that was actually posted! smh

Our app connects to the headend to get a IDP login URL for each connection session, for example: “https://myvpn.ocwa.com/+CSCOE+/saml/sp/login?ctx=3627097090&amp;acsamlcap=v2” and then open embedded webview to load the page. (Note: the value of ctx is session token which changes every time). Quite often the webview shows blank white screen. After user cancel the connection and re-connect, the 2nd time webview loads the content successfully. I recently upgraded my device from IOS 18.4 to IOS 26. My web extension has disapeared from safari. I can see it in Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions and when I turn it on and re-open safari. I just get a mesasge that says "{extension name} is no longer avaiable". I have tried Manifest V2 and Manifest V3 both yield the same results. The current production extension bundled with the IOS app has the same problem. I can no longer use or test my own extension !? Help please !

Whenever I make a safari view controller on XCode26 Beta 5, there appears to be a blurry white overlay overtop the controller. This worked fine in XCode26 Beta 2, with no code differences. Anyone have any suggestions?

Based on the "Build immersive web experiences with WebXR"-Video for visionOS there is no way to disable the consent prompts for entering an immersive experience or consent hand-tracking. For the microphone it's possible to "greenlight" specific websites for mic input, which works great. I'd welcome it, if it were possible to add specific websites in the settings, in which those consent dialogs aren't shown each time. In my opinion, the user interaction through a button that launches the experience would be sufficient to not disorient.

Hi, I have an app that uses WKWebView and it's crashing on iOS 26 Simulator in places I've never had problems before. In this case it's crashing when calling WKWebView.callAsyncJavaScript, but in my other project WKWebView is crashing with some sort of EXC_BAD_ACCESS other than callAsyncJavaScript.
