Issue with iOS Safari Handling Updates in .ics Files
I have an endpoint that generates a .ics file. From my mobile app, I open the browser (Safari) and retrieve the .ics file. In Safari, the events are displayed as expected, and I can use the "Add All" button to add them to the calendar. After clicking "Add All," I can select the desired calendar, and the events are successfully added (see screenshots 1 and 2 below). Here’s the initial .ics file response: BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 CALSCALE:GREGORIAN PRODID:NAME BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20250101T195917Z DTSTART:20250102T131600 DTEND:20250102T142500 SUMMARY:My Event 1 UID:unique-uid1 LAST-MODIFIED:20250101T155715Z DESCRIPTION:Description SEQUENCE:1 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20250101T195917Z DTSTART:20250103T131600 DTEND:20250103T135600 SUMMARY:My Event 2 UID:unique-uid2 LAST-MODIFIED:20250101T155715Z DESCRIPTION:Description SEQUENCE:1 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR Later, I updated the .ics file with new event details: BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 CALSCALE:GREGORIAN PRODID:NAME BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20250102T195917Z DTSTART:20250104T131600 DTEND:20250104T142500 SUMMARY:My Event 1 Update UID:unique-uid1 LAST-MODIFIED:20250104T155715Z DESCRIPTION:Description SEQUENCE:2 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20250102T195917Z DTSTART:20250105T131600 DTEND:20250105T142500 SUMMARY:My Event 2 Update UID:unique-uid2 LAST-MODIFIED:20250102T155715Z DESCRIPTION:Description SEQUENCE:2 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR I updated everything according to the iCalendar documentation: UID remained unchanged SEQUENCE has been updated DTSTAMP has been updated LAST-MODIFIED has been updated However it seems like that Safari can't handle updates on events. In the preview we can see the changes, but when I click on "Add All" button, nothing happens. The same behavior is working with other calendars like Outlook (web view) or Google Calendar. My Questions: Is there a property missing from my .ics file that is necessary for iOS Safari to handle updates? Is Safari not designed to handle event updates in this way? Should I consider moving to a subscription-based solution to manage updates more reliably? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Smart banner for app doesn't work
Hello everyone. I have a very strange behavior with smart app banners in Safari. When I don't have installed app on my phone, I can't see the banner on our product main page. When I installed the app, I can see the banner, which allows me to go directly to the app. When I put any other app's ID in the meta tag it works perfectly even if I don't have its installed app. So the code is right, what can be the reason of this behavior? Any settings of the app are required?

Safari Extension: Cookie Header Missing in Background Fetch from Non-Default User Profile (Works in Default Profile)
When our Safari Web Extension makes a api request from its background script (registered via "scripts" in manifest.json, e.g., "background": { "scripts": ["js/background.bundle.js"] }) to our authenticated API endpoint (https://api-domain/user), the Cookie header is not included in the request. This occurs only when the extension is running within a non-default Safari User Profile. This causes our API to treat the user as unauthenticated. The exact same extension code, manifest, and API call work correctly (Cookie header is present and user is authenticated) when the extension is running in the Default Safari User Profile.

WebSocket Connection Fails in Safari iOS 18.1+ when triggered from an iframe
Hello, I’m encountering a problem with WebSocket connections in Safari on iOS 18.1 and later when initiated from an iframe. The same implementation works perfectly in other browsers like Chrome but fails in Safari. In Safari, the WebSocket connection fails with error message "WebSocket connection to 'wss://MY_CONNECTION_URL' failed: The internet connection appears to be offline." Has anyone else faced this? Is this a known limitation or bug in Safari? Any workarounds or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I cannot log in using 'Sign in with Apple' on iOS 12.
Our service includes the Apple web login feature to support "Sign in with Apple" on iOS 12. However, at some point, an error started occurring on the Apple login page in iOS 12, preventing users from proceeding further. Upon checking the Web Inspector console, we found the following error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable) Please help us resolve this issue so that users can continue using "Sign in with Apple" on iOS 12.

When loading a .webarchive in WKWebView does it handle local storage differently in iOS 18?
I have multiple web views of the same domain that share the same local storage, as expected. One of them though, is loading a .webarchive file. The web archive is of the same domain, and is loaded using the same base URL. For some reason, in most cases, the local storage is not shared with this web view when loading the web archive, although if I make that same web view load the actual live web page it does share local storage. I say in most cases, because for some users it works as expected, but for a significant portion of users it isn't sharing local storage. I think that the main difference between working and not is iOS version. iOS 17 seems to be able to share the local storage but iOS 18 does not. I can't find anything related in the release notes of iOS 18 versions. There is nothing in the documentation for load(_:mimeType:characterEncodingName:baseURL:), or the header file, that explains anything specific about local storage and webarchive loading. Does anyone know for sure how local storage is handled when a webarchive is loaded into a web view, and did something change with iOS 18 in regards to this?

How do I add a UI to a Safari Web Extension?
I have a Safari Web Extension that successfully receives a message from a webpage and returns a response. I now want to add a user interface to the Safari Web Extension. How do I do this? I have modified the default template code as follow to add an NSAlert for testing. The modal runs, but no alert ever appears, and the code remains stuck at runModal. What is the correct way to add a UI to a webextension? - (void)beginRequestWithExtensionContext:(NSExtensionContext *)context {     id message = [context.inputItems.firstObject userInfo][SFExtensionMessageKey];     NSLog(@"Received message from browser.runtime.sendNativeMessage: %@", message);     NSAlert* alert = [[NSAlert alloc]init];     [alert setMessageText:message[@"request"]];     [alert setInformativeText:@"Hello"];     [alert runModal];     NSExtensionItem *response = [[NSExtensionItem alloc] init];     response.userInfo = @{ SFExtensionMessageKey: @{ @"id": message[@"id"], @"uuid": message[@"uuid"], @"contentType": message[@"contentType"], @"response": message[@"request"] } };     [context completeRequestReturningItems:@[ response ] completionHandler:nil]; } @end

httpd.conf syntax to include Homebrew extensions for php and mySQL
I have "http://localhost:8080" showing the index page I've created but php is not handled though an extension is running. Haven't even tried mySQL yet but since there is no reference to it in https.conf the same problem will exist. Homebrew extension running also. https.conf: #PHP was deprecated in macOS 11 and removed from macOS 12 #LoadModule php7_module libexec/apache2/libphp7.so There are no php.so files on my machine and again no mention of mysql What should I enter in http.conf to activate these functionalities? Thanks. PS could you reference a tutorial on using Safari and Web inspector

Add background.js to Safari App Extension
I develop a tab manager extension: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/tab-finder-for-safari/id6741719894 It's written purely in Swift. All Safari interactions are done solely inside a SFSafariExtensionHandler . But now i'm considering adding some features from Google Chrome's Extension API like window switching. Is it possible to add a background.js worker to my existing Safari App Extension to have access to the beginRequest method override inside SFSafariExtensionHandler? Without converting my extension from Safari App Extension to Safari Web Extenion?

Safari Web Extension service_worker failed to load
I built and extension for chrome, edge, and firefox. I'm porting the chrome extension to safari using the safari-web-extension-converter tool. This has worked successfully and I was able to publish my extension to the app store. I made some updates to the service worker code recently and I'm now being hit with an error when trying to load my unsigned extension into safari: The service_worker script failed to load due to an error. I've looked online at some other forums and haven't found anything helpful around how to debug this kind of error. Because the service worker is non-persistent in safari, I don't have access to the console logs of the service worker through the Develop > Web Extension Background Context menu. Has anyone successfully debugged this kind of error? Are there logs I can pull directly from safari that would help me here? Thanks in advance for the help!

Service Worker Registration Requires WKAppBoundDomains – Any Workarounds?
"We have a multi-tenant EdTech platform serving over 1500 clients, each with a unique domain (e.g., client1.eduapp.com). We use WKWebView in a native shell. Due to WKAppBoundDomains restriction, we can't dynamically list all domains. How can we support dynamic tenants while maintaining cookie persistence" "Can Apple suggest a best practice or alternative approach for apps using WebView/PWA shell architecture across multiple client domains?" Problem: We cannot predefine all 1500 domains in WKAppBoundDomains due to limitations. As a result: Service workers fail to register, breaking PWA functionality Ex: Offline.

How to prevent text wrapping in iOS browser's default option tag?
In the Safari browser on mobile devices, the tags in an HTML element are styled with the system's default styles. I want the text inside the tags to be displayed without line breaks. However, in reality, the text wraps according to its length. May I ask if there are any methods to achieve this? (ps: CSS-related properties such as white-space: nowrap do not work.)

Universal Link failures in Safari with EventListener
Hi everyone! We encountered an issue with universal links where the link failed to open the iOS application from Safari when triggered by an event listener. However, when we modified the code to open the link directly via a user click, the application launched as expected. Based on our testing, this issue seems to occur only when there is information for the application cached in Safari. Our previous flow that resulted in the broken universal link included: Data is loaded and a screen with a button to open the universal link is available for the user When the data is loaded it sets a state variable to true for DataLoaded The user clicks on the button to open the universal link When the user clicks the button to open the link it sets a variable to true for ButtonClicked When DataLoaded and ButtonClicked are true then the universal link is opened Our new flow that results in the successful universal link includes: Data is loaded and the user is hit with a loading screen until it is finished The user clicks on the button to open the universal link and the universal link is opened directly Does anyone have insights into why universal links must be triggered by direct user action, and in what scenarios this behavior is enforced?

Add Authorization header to WKWebView
How can i add Authorization header to a wkwebview. I checked https://developer.apple.com/documentation/foundation/nsurlrequest#1776617 which says Authorization header is a reserved http header and shouldn’t be set. I want to set it when requesting a url in wkwebview for authentication purpose?

SFSafariApplication doesn't transmitt messages to docked website.
Hi! I'm working on a web extension for Safari and I need to send messages from the containing application to JavaScript. For this I use the method class func dispatchMessage( withName messageName: String, toExtensionWithIdentifier identifier: String, userInfo: [String : Any]? = nil ) async throws of the SFSafariApplication class. If the site is opened in Safari in normal mode, everything works as expected. However, if the site is "docked", the messages are not transmitted to this "Web App".
