Web AR stopped working after the IOS 18.4 update for iPad gen9
So I have web Augmented Reality apps hosted on AWS S3. It worked fine for a month, but as soon as the IOS 18.4 update was installed they stopped working. It works on every other device and IOS versions. The URLs for the mentioned AR experiences: digitechonline.in/solsprefimaginewt8/ digitechonline.in/solsprefimaginewt8p2/ digitechonline.in/orocarear/ These AR experiences get stuck on the loading screen and either reload or give an error. Ideally the camera is supposed to open. I have tested it on Safari, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers. They were created through Unity webgl and hosted on AWS S3 bucket. Please provide a quick solution to this.

How do I update the list of valid redirect URLs for Sign In With Apple for Web?
I've been using Sign In with Apple for Web for the last six months, and it works well enough. Now, I'm updating the domain of the main application (we got the .com! yeah!) However, I can't find a way in the configuration UI to update the allowed redirect URLs for the application. I go to Identifiers -> My App -> Capabilities -> Sign In with Apple -> Edit button. It just allows me to edit whether this is a primary ID, or grouped ID, plus a callback URL (which I'm not currently using.)

WKWebview displays blank page intermittently on iOS and macOS
Our app connects to the headend to get a IDP login URL for each connection session, for example: “https://myvpn.ocwa.com/+CSCOE+/saml/sp/login?ctx=3627097090&acsamlcap=v2” and then open embedded webview to load the page. (Note: the value of ctx is session token which changes every time). Quite often the webview shows blank white screen. After user cancel the connection and re-connect, the 2nd time webview loads the content successfully. The working case logs shows: didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge is called decidePolicyForNavigationAction is called twice didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge is called decidePolicyForNavigationResponse is called didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge is called But the failure case shows: Filed to terminate process: Error Domain=com.apple.extensionKit.errorDomain Code=18 "(null)" UserInfo={NSUnderlyingError=0x11461c240 {Error Domain=RBSRequestErrorDomain Code=3 "No such process found" UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=No such process found}}} didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge is called decidePolicyForNavigationAction is called decidePolicyForNavigationResponse is called If we stop calling evaluateJavaScript code to get userAgent, the blank page happens less frequently. Below is the code we put in makeUIView(): func makeUIView(context: Context) -> WKWebView { if let url = URL(string: self.myUrl) { let request = URLRequest(url: url) webview.evaluateJavaScript("navigator.userAgent") { result, error in if let error = error { NSLog("evaluateJavaScript Error: \(error)") } else { let agent = result as! String + " " + self.myUserAgent webview.customUserAgent = agent webview.load(request) } } } return self.webview } Found some posts saying call evaluateJavaScript only after WKWebView has finished loading its content. However, it will block us to send the userAgent info via HTTP request. And I don’t think it is the root cause since the problem still occurs with less frequency. There is no problem to load same web page on Windows desktop and Android devices. The problem only occurs on iOS and macOS which both use WKWebview APIs. Is there a bug in WKWebview? Thanks, Ying

Tab Bar Transparency Problem on iOS 26
i have programmed a website and struggle to get it to work on safari ios26. 100vh fixed positioned images do not fill the screen anymore. i could live with that, having two background coloured spaces at the top and at the bottom. but elements that scroll out of this new viewport are fully visible, as you can see on the enclosed screenshots. i have no idea how i could fix this and dont find any answer anywhere on the net?

Passkey UI displays app icon from applinks association even when webcredentials is not configured
Summary When an app is associated with a domain via applinks in the Apple App Site Association (AASA) file, the app's icon is displayed next to passkey entries in the iOS passkey selection UI (e.g., in Safari's sign-in dialog). This occurs even when: The AASA file does not contain a webcredentials section The passkey's relying party ID (rp.id) matches the domain, but the app has no webcredentials association The URL path of the passkey login page does not match any paths specified in the applinks configuration Environment iOS 18.6.2 iPhone 16 Pro Safari / Passkey UI via WebAuthn Steps to Reproduce Create an iOS app and register it in App Store Connect (or distribute via TestFlight) Configure the AASA file on the domain with only applinks — no webcredentials section: json{ "applinks": { "apps": [], "details": [ { "appIDs": ["TEAMID.com.example.myapp"], "components": [ { "/": "/specific-path/*" } ] } ] } } Implement WebAuthn/passkey registration on the same domain with the domain as rp.id Install the app on the device (via TestFlight or App Store) Register a passkey on the website via Safari Navigate to the login page and trigger the passkey selection UI Expected Behavior Since webcredentials is not configured in the AASA file, the passkey selection UI should NOT display the app icon next to the passkey entry. The passkey icon should be the default website favicon or a generic icon. Actual Behavior The app icon (from App Store Connect / TestFlight) is displayed next to the passkey entry in the selection UI, even though: Only applinks is configured (no webcredentials) The current page URL does not match any paths in the applinks configuration Impact In our production environment, we have a single domain serving multiple partner bank apps. The AASA file contains applinks entries for many different apps (20+ partner apps). When a user accesses the passkey login page, the passkey UI may display an app icon from one of these partner apps, which can be confusing for users — especially if the displayed icon belongs to a different partner's app than the one the user intends to use. Questions Is this the intended behavior — that applinks associations influence the passkey UI icon display? Is there a way to prevent applinks associations from affecting the passkey selection UI without removing the applinks entries? Would adding a proper webcredentials section with the correct app ID override the icon source from applinks to webcredentials? Is there a recommended approach for domains that serve multiple apps via applinks but want to control which icon appears in the passkey UI?

Guideline 3.2.2 Rejection - Correct Implementation for Donations via SFSafariViewController
Hello everyone, We've had our app rejected twice under Guideline 3.2.2 regarding charitable donations, and we're seeking clarification on the correct implementation. We've read the guidelines but want to confirm the technical approach with the community's experience. The Rejection Reason: Apple states: "We still noticed that your app includes the ability to collect charitable donations within the app..." They specify that since we are not an approved nonprofit, we must use one of the alternatives, primarily: "provide a link to your website that launches the default browser or SFSafariViewController for users to make a donation." Our Current (Rejected) Implementation: User taps a "Help" button in our native app. A native modal appears inside our app where the user enters their donation amount and email address for the receipt. The user clicks "Donate," which then opens an SFSafariViewController to our website's payment page (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). The amount and email are passed as URL parameters to pre-fill the form. Our Questions for the Community: Is the issue solely the fact that we have a native modal for data entry? We understand we cannot process the payment in-app, but we thought collecting the intent (amount, email) was acceptable before handing off to Safari. What is the definitive, compliant flow? Option A: Should the "Help" button do nothing more than open an SFSafariViewController to a generic donations landing page on our website (https://ourwebsite.com/donate), with no data pre-filled? The user must then navigate and enter all information on the website itself. Option C: The rejection also mentions SMS. Has anyone had success implementing a "Text-to-Donate" link instead of a web flow? Wording: The button in our app currently says "Donate". Should this be changed to a more passive call to action like "Visit Website to Donate" to make it absolutely clear the transaction is external? We want to ensure our next submission is successful. Any insight, especially from developers who have successfully navigated this exact rejection, would be immensely helpful. Thank you.

SpringBoard Watchdog Timeout (180s) when using "Add to Home Screen" - iOS 2026
Reporting a consistent system-wide freeze followed by a Kernel Panic when attempting to use the "Add to Home Screen" feature in Safari. This issue has persisted across multiple recent iOS updates and leads to a device bootloop. Technical Details: The UI becomes entirely unresponsive for exactly 180 seconds. Analytics logs indicate a userspace watchdog timeout caused by SpringBoard failing to check in. Panic String: panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffffff0422ccb9): userspace watchdog timeout: no successful checkins from SpringBoard (0 induced crashes) in 180 seconds Steps to Reproduce: Open Safari and navigate to any URL. Tap the Share icon. Select Add to Home Screen. The device UI freezes immediately. After 3 minutes, the system triggers a reboot. Environment: • Device: 16PM panic-base-2026-03-12-222721.ips.txt • OS Version: 26.4 RC and Beta 3 v1 • Feedback ID: FB22286846 (Full sysdiagnose and panic logs are attached to the original Feedback Assistant report). Questions: Is this a known regression involving the web clip background daemon, or does the 180s timeout suggest a specific database corruption within the Home Screen layout?

This is generated in the onvalidatemerchant event handler, and passed into session.completeMerchantValidation. Using a sandbox account with linked cards, the next thing that happens is a "payment not completed" message in the ApplePay popup on the page, and the oncancel event is hit Inspecting the event, I don't see anything that hints at the issue. There is a sessionError object, but its code is "unknown" and the info object is empty.

Folder-level image access permissions for browser-only web apps in iOS Safari
We are developing a mobile-first, browser-only web application that requires users to upload 20–200 images stored inside a single folder (for example, a merchant product directory). On iOS Safari: window.showDirectoryPicker() is not supported. is not supported. File System Access API is not available. Users must manually multi-select images from the Photos picker. This creates significant friction for bulk upload workflows. We are NOT requesting unrestricted file system access. We are asking whether a privacy-preserving, user-granted folder-scoped permission model is being considered for web applications. For example: User explicitly selects a folder. The web app receives scoped access only to that selected folder. Access is session-bound and revocable. No background or global storage access is required. Questions: Is folder-level access for web apps being considered for iOS Safari? Does installing a PWA provide any enhanced file access capability? Are there recommended best practices for handling bulk image uploads in browser-only iOS applications? Is there any roadmap alignment with the File System Access API standard? Our goal is to remain browser-only and maintain strict user privacy while improving usability for high-volume image workflows. Any clarification on intended platform direction would be appreciated.

iOS 26/MacOS 26 - PWA App Icons: Dark,Clear,Tinted Appearance
Hi everyone, I'm exploring the new app icon appearance options (Clear, Dark, Tinted) for Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) on iOS26, iPadOS26, and macOS26. Currently, PWA icons don't seem to render well with these new appearances, particularly in Clear and Tinted modes, resulting in very very poor visual quality. You can hardly see anything. Has support for these icon appearances been fully implemented for PWAs? If so, could someone point me to the relevant Apple Developer documentation or provide guidance on how to configure PWA icons to support Clear, Dark, and Tinted appearances? I've searched the Apple Developer Forums, Stack Overflow, and Reddit but haven't found clear information on this topic.A possible solution is a png file with transparent areas, but if the pattern is dark, nothing will be visible in dark mode. Any insights or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (plz don't give up on PWA😭) Reference: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/761615 https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78780916/is-there-a-way-to-provide-light-dark-and-tinted-variants-of-apple-touch-icon https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/SafariWebContent/ConfiguringWebApplications/ConfiguringWebApplications.html

Safari Low Power Mode Video Playback Issue
Hello Friends, This is my first post so would love any suggestions on how to make posts here. So I have a shopify widget which is type of clone for Instagram stories, with videos but I noticed some issues where my videos are kind of unresponsive or just shuts down. Below is the screen shot of the issue: This problem I noticed on iPhone 11 Pro on clients phone, the IOS version is below 26. Some times my iPhone 13 also faces same issue but only when battery is low and multiple heavy apps are opened. Why does NSURLSession with Multipath entitlement seamlessly switch to cellular when on a hardware Wi-Fi with no internet, but WKWebView does not?
正文:大家好, 当设备连接到没有互联网的 Wi-Fi SSID(例如,硬件设备的 AP)时,我看到 NSURLSession(multipathServiceType = NSURLSessionMultipathServiceTypeInteractive)和 WKWebView 之间的行为存在令人费解的差异。 网络路径监控逻辑: 我使用 C API nw_path_monitor来监视nw_path_status_satisfied。

Passkey authentication issues on iPhone when launching login pages via Home Screen shortcuts
Summary: We are facing a serious issue on iPhone where multiple passkey authentication problems occur when accessing passkey-enabled login pages via shortcuts placed on the iPhone Home Screen. These issues may also occur when opening the same pages directly in a standard browser window. However, launching the login pages from a Home Screen shortcut appears to increase the likelihood of encountering these issues. Affected Services (examples, not exhaustive): Amazon GitHub Adobe Observed Issues: Issue 1: A passkey authentication dialog/popup shows two times without any user operation: What happens due to this issue: Login does not complete after the first passkey authentication. A second passkey authentication UI automatically appears. Completing or canceling the second authentication allows the login to proceed. Issue 2: Login remains stuck until the user manually invokes passkey again What happens due to this issue: The login page does not advance after the first authentication. The user must tap the ID/username field again to manually trigger the passkey UI. Completing the second authentication enables login. Issue 3: Automatic second authentication occurs, but login still fails What happens due to this issue: A second automatic authentication UI appears. Login still does not complete. Tapping the ID field no longer opens the passkey UI; instead, the password auto-fill panel appears. Passkey login becomes impossible. Observed reproduction steps (not guaranteed but most consistently observed): On iPhone, navigate to a passkey-enabled login page (e.g., Amazon, GitHub, Adobe) using a browser. Create a shortcut from the browser's share menu and place it on the Home Screen. Launch the login page from the Home Screen shortcut. Tap the ID/username field to invoke the passkey prompt. Complete passkey authentication. → One of the issues described above occurs. Environment: Device: iPhone SE OS: iOS 18.6.2

Detect whether the user is using Safari or Safari Technology Preview?
Hi, I’m trying to detect whether my Safari Web Extension is running in Safari or Safari Technology Preview. Is there a reliable way to do that? I can get the executable path of the parent process using proc_pidpath(). However, unlike Chrome or Firefox, Safari extensions run under /sbin/launchd as the parent process, not the responsible process (browser’s binary). In this scenario, I need the executable path of the actual browser process, but I haven’t found a way to get it. Also, Safari doesn’t implement the Web Extension API’s browser.runtime.getBrowserInfo(), unlike Firefox. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m considering checking the user agent string, though I’m not sure how reliable that would be. Use Case Some users use my Safari extension as a web development tool and want to enable some features exclusively in Safari Technology Preview, while using other features only in standard Safari. If I could detect which browser is in use, I could provide the appropriate functionality for them.

File Download Support in SwiftUI Native WebView (iOS 26+)
I am using the native SwiftUI WebView and WebPage APIs (iOS 26+) and would like to implement file download functionality using the native SwiftUI WebView. However, I have not been able to find any APIs equivalent to WKDownload. In WKWebView, the WKDownload API can be used to handle downloads. I am looking for a similar API or recommended approach in the native SwiftUI WebView that would allow downloading files. If anyone has guidance or suggestions on how to implement this, I would appreciate your help.

SwiftUI WebView: Is action.target == nil a Reliable Way to Handle New Window Requests?
In WKWebView, there is the WKUIDelegate method: func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, createWebViewWith configuration: WKWebViewConfiguration, for navigationAction: WKNavigationAction, windowFeatures: WKWindowFeatures) -> WKWebView? {} This delegate method provides a callback when a new window (for example, target="_blank") is requested in the web view. However, in native SwiftUI (iOS 26), WebView / WebPage APIs do not provide an equivalent delegate method to handle new window requests. As a workaround, I am using the following method: public func decidePolicy(for action: WebPage.NavigationAction, preferences: inout WebPage.NavigationPreferences) async -> WKNavigationActionPolicy {} In this method, when action.target == nil, I treat it as a new window request. My question: Is relying on action.target == nil in decidePolicy a reliable and future-safe way to detect new window requests in SwiftUI’s WebView, or is there a better or more recommended approach for handling target="_blank" / new window navigation in the SwiftUI WebView APIs? Code: public func decidePolicy(for action: WebPage.NavigationAction, preferences: inout WebPage.NavigationPreferences) async -> WKNavigationActionPolicy { guard let webPage = webPage else { return .cancel } // Handle case where target frame is nil (e.g., target="_blank" or window.open) // This indicates a new window request if action.target == nil { print("Target frame is nil - new window requested") // WORKAROUND: Until iOS 26 WebPage UI protocol is available, we handle new windows here // Try to create a new WebPage through UI plugins if handleCreateWebPage(for: webPage, navigationAction: action) != nil { // Note: The new WebPage has been created and published to the view return .allow } } return .allow }

Our app connects to the headend to get a IDP login URL for each connection session, for example: “https://myvpn.ocwa.com/+CSCOE+/saml/sp/login?ctx=3627097090&amp;acsamlcap=v2” and then open embedded webview to load the page. Below is the code we put in makeUIView(): func makeUIView(context: Context) -&gt; WKWebView { if let url = URL(string: self.myUrl) { let request = URLRequest(url: url) webview.evaluateJavaScript("navigator.userAgent") { result, error in if let error = error { NSLog("evaluateJavaScript Error: \(error)") } else { let agent = result as!

Hello Friends, This is my first post so would love any suggestions on how to make posts here. So I have a shopify widget which is type of clone for Instagram stories, with videos but I noticed some issues where my videos are kind of unresponsive or just shuts down. Below is the screen shot of the issue: This problem I noticed on iPhone 11 Pro on clients phone, the IOS version is below 26. Some times my iPhone 13 also faces same issue but only when battery is low and multiple heavy apps are opened. Attached a code block also: {validStories.map((story) => { const videoUrl = extractVideoUrl(story.sv?.[0]?.m); const storyThumbnail = story.tu && story.tu.length > 0 ? story.tu : null; const videoThumbnail = story.sv?.[0]?.m?.[0]?.t && story.sv[0].m[0].t.length > 0 ? story.sv[0].m[0].t : null; const thumbnailUrl = storyThumbnail || videoThumbnail; const hasThumbnail = !!thumbnailUrl; const isPlaying = playingVideoIds.has(story.i); const shouldRenderWrapper = hasThumbnail || isPlaying; return ( <div key={story.i} className="ins-story-item" onClick={(e) => { handleActiveStoryChange(story.i, e); handleActiveVideoId(story.i); }} style={{ position: "relative", zIndex: 1 }} > {shouldRenderWrapper && ( <div className="ins-story-circle-wrapper" style={{ position: "relative", overflow: "hidden" }} > {hasThumbnail && !isPlaying && ( <img src={thumbnailUrl} alt={story.t} className="ins-story-image" onError={() => { console.log( `[Story ${story.i}] Thumbnail failed to load: ${thumbnailUrl}` ); }} /> )} <video src={videoUrl} className="ins-story-video" autoPlay={true} muted playsInline loop onLoadedData={() => handleVideoPlaying(story.i)} onPlaying={() => handleVideoPlaying(story.i)} onError={(e) => { console.log(`[Story ${story.i}] Video error`, e); }} /> </div> )} {story.t !== "New Collection" && ( <span className="ins-story-title">{story.t}</span> )} </div> ); })} </div> {activeStoryId && <StoryModal />} </>```

In WKWebView, there is the WKUIDelegate method: func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, createWebViewWith configuration: WKWebViewConfiguration, for navigationAction: WKNavigationAction, windowFeatures: WKWindowFeatures) -> WKWebView? {} This delegate method provides a callback when a new window (for example, target="_blank") is requested in the web view. However, in native SwiftUI (iOS 26), WebView / WebPage APIs do not provide an equivalent delegate method to handle new window requests. As a workaround, I am using the following method: public func decidePolicy(for action: WebPage.NavigationAction, preferences: inout WebPage.NavigationPreferences) async -> WKNavigationActionPolicy {} In this method, when action.target == nil, I treat it as a new window request. My question: Is relying on action.target == nil in decidePolicy a reliable and future-safe way to detect new window requests in SwiftUI’s WebView, or is there a better or more recommended approach for handling target="_blank" / new window navigation in the SwiftUI WebView APIs? Code: public func decidePolicy(for action: WebPage.NavigationAction, preferences: inout WebPage.NavigationPreferences) async -> WKNavigationActionPolicy { guard let webPage = webPage else { return .cancel } // Handle case where target frame is nil (e.g., target="_blank" or window.open) // This indicates a new window request if action.target == nil { print("Target frame is nil - new window requested") // WORKAROUND: Until iOS 26 WebPage UI protocol is available, we handle new windows here // Try to create a new WebPage through UI plugins if handleCreateWebPage(for: webPage, navigationAction: action) != nil { // Note: The new WebPage has been created and published to the view return .allow } } return .allow }
