Manipulation stops working when changing rooms
This post documents an issue I reported in feedback FB19610114 and see if anyone knows of a workaround. Here is a copy of the feedback. Short version Manipulation (SwiftUI OR RealityKit) fails to translate entities after changing rooms. By changing rooms, I mean a human wearing an Apple Vision Pro leaving one room and entering another room. Once this issue occurs, it impacts all apps that use these features. A device restart is the only solution I have to fix it. Feedback FB19610114 This is an odd one. I'm using the new Manipulation Component in visionOS 26. Most of the time this works well. Sometime it stops working and when it does the only way to get it working again is to reboot the headset. When this happens, I can continue to rotate and scale items, but translation no longer works. It is as if the item is stuck to a fixed point in the parent scene (window, volume, etc). When this bug occurs, it affects every app across the entire operating system that is using manipulation, including the RealityKit component AND the SwiftUI version. This is not limited to one app and is not limited to apps that I am working on. Once this error occurs, it affects literally any application across the operating system that is using this API, including apps from Apple. I won't speculate on the cause of this, but I do know of one way where I can always get it to happen. Here is how to reproduce it: Make an Xcode project with a single entity that uses the Manipulation Component. There is no need to customize the configuration of this component. The default implementation will work. Build and run this app on device. You can keep running from device or quit and launch the app like normal on device. Open the app and manipulate the entity - it should work as expected. Physically walk into another room. It is vital that you leave the current room that you are in and enter a different room entirely. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - it should still be working as expected at this point. Physically, move yourself and your headset into the original room where you started. Use the digital crown to recenter your view and bring your window or volume to you. Test the manipulation on the entity again - you should now see the issue. When I follow the steps above, then 100% of the time manipulation translation stops working at this point. It will impact any application using this API. The only way to fix it is to restart my headset. A few points to keep in mind It does not matter if an app is actively being run from Xcode. When this occurs, it impacts every single app, not just one. When this occurs, rotation and scaling continue to work, but the entity/view cannot be translated. This impacts BOTH the SwiftUI version and the RealityKit version. When this occurs, the only way to "fix" it is to reboot the device.

Attaching a hand model to your hands
Hi, we have been working on an application that attaches a hand model to the users hands. Apple provides an animating hand models in visionOS project that is a useful starting point. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionOS/animating-hand-models-in-visionOS We have been trying to create our own hand model to attach but have had some issues with how it is attaching to the hand. For our hand model we want to include the forearm all the way up to the users elbow. I have attached a sample project of what our code currently looks like so you can run it. Just select show immersive space to attach the models. The left hand model is the space glove that we were trying to mirror. The right hand model is our model that we have been using. I have mapped each of the joints to the pertaining joint name on our model. The first issue we are having seems to be based around the placement of the forearm. It attaches itself at the wrist. The second issue seems to be around rotation. Our team is looking for some guidance on what needs to change in order to map this model correctly. Thanks in advance!

Is SceneKit depricated ?
Hi everyone! I am working on AR app and wanted to implement object occlusion because it removes drift pretty much from the object. This working great with RealityKit sample But I am unable to replicate such behaviour it with scenekit. Because scenekit does not offer object occlusion. Can we say scenekit is getting depricated, and we should re-write app in RealityKit (which is obviously a big task)?

Reality Composer Timeline unfinished
the timeline editor feels often unfinished. Setting the time cursor to a different time is often not reflected in the preview. You either have to click a clip or wait. sometimes the cursor even disappears, eg. when switching tabs to shadergraph Not being able to select and move multiple clips is missing. There is also no snapping to clips or time cursor as found in other tools. And then there is the timeline compile bug https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/810868 The timeline as it is, is a good start but it definitely needs some more love to be on par with other commercial tools like Unity or After Effects.

visionOS plane anchor rotation and wall direction are inconsistent
I have a problem with the wall plane detection using visionOS/ARKit: I am using ARKitSession's PlaneDetectionProvider detection.wall in the space of visionOS. I recorded the position and rotation information of the first detected plane, but found that the rotation value will be facing when the user starts the space. There is a deviation in different directions. That is to say, even if the plane is located on the same wall, the rotation quaternion will be different. I hope that no matter from which direction the user enters the scan, the real direction of the wall can be correctly obtained so that the virtual content can be accurately aligned with the wall. I have tried to use anchor.originFromAnchorTransform or Transform.rotation directly, but the rotation value is still affected by the user's initial orientation. In addition, I would like to know whether the user's initial orientation will affect the location information. If so, please provide a solution. Thank you!

visualBounds ignores TextComponents set for Entity. Workarounds?
After adding TextComponents to my Entities on visionOS, I have observed that visualBounds will ignore the TextComponents. Documentation states that it should render a rounded rectangle mesh. These mashes are visible on the device, but not visible in the debugger ("Capture Entity Hierarchy") and ignored by visualBounds. Am I missing something? static func makeDirection(_ direction: Direction) -> Entity { let text = Entity() text.name = direction.rawValue text.setScale(SIMD3(repeating: 5), relativeTo: nil) text.transform.rotation = direction.rotation text.components.set(direction.textComponent) return text } My workaround is to add a disabled ModelEntity and take its bounds 😬

RealityView Camera Target Error when set while Orbiting
When interacting with RealityView’s realityViewCameraControls .orbit and setting a new RealityViewCameraContent .cameraTarget, the resulting camera target and camera orbit is incorrect. This can be demonstrated where one finger is orbiting the RealityView, and another pushes a button which changes the camera target. Instead of the camera facing the new target, some point in the scene is the new effective camera target and orbit point. This only occurs when an orbit interaction is currently taking place. If you stop interacting with the orbit, change target, then start orbit interacting again, everything works as expected. Though this example uses two-touches, any change of the camera target has this conflict with orbit interaction. This means interacting with orbit will result in the wrong camera view which is unexpected for users and difficult to reconcile or detect, for developers. Expected: Interacting (orbiting) the scene while setting a new camera target with the buttons on screen (at the same time), the camera’s new target shows centred in view the orbit revolves the new target and continues to match my gestures. Reality: Interacting (orbiting) the scene while setting a new camera target with the buttons on screen (at the same time), the camera’s new target is not centred in view, and camera is now orbiting an unexpected point in the scene, that is not my expected target. One imperfect workaround is to force a rebuild of the view after setting a new cameraTarget. This sets all targets correctly but results in a flicker, loss of orbit controls until re-touch and ultimately is a poor user experience, but is better than the wrong target being shown unexpectedly. Code Sample: import SwiftUI import RealityKit struct RKOribtTarget: View { @State private var target: Int = 0 @State private var rcContent: RealityViewCameraContent? @State private var rkID: UUID = UUID() let root = Entity() let center = ModelEntity(mesh: .generateSphere(radius: 0.05), materials: [UnlitMaterial(color: UIColor(.gray.opacity(0.5)))]) let red = ModelEntity(mesh: .generateBox(size: 0.1), materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .red, isMetallic: false)]) let blue = ModelEntity(mesh: .generateBox(size: 0.1), materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .blue, isMetallic: false)]) let green = ModelEntity(mesh: .generateBox(size: 0.1), materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .green, isMetallic: false)]) var body: some View { VStack{ RealityView { content in red.position.x = 0.5 blue.position.z = 0.5 green.position.y = 0.5 center.position = .init(repeating: 0.25) content.cameraTarget = target == 0 ? root : blue root.addChild(red) root.addChild(blue) root.addChild(green) root.addChild(center) content.add(root) } update: { content in switch target{ case 0: content.cameraTarget = root case 1: content.cameraTarget = blue case 2: content.cameraTarget = red case 3: content.cameraTarget = green default: content.cameraTarget = root } } .id(rkID) .realityViewCameraControls(.orbit) VStack{ Text("Target") Button("Default") { target = 0 // Force rebuilding view resets orbit target and rotation // But shows a flicker, interaction requires touch reset // Not an ideal workaround // rkID = UUID() } .buttonStyle(.bordered) Button("Blue") { target = 1 // rkID = UUID() } .buttonStyle(.bordered) .tint(.blue) Button("Red") { target = 2 // rkID = UUID() } .buttonStyle(.bordered) .tint(.red) Button("Green") { target = 3 // rkID = UUID() } .buttonStyle(.bordered) .tint(.green) } } } } Xcode Version: Version 26.0 (17A324) iOS Version: iOS 26.5 (23F75) Tested on devices, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro

ARKit Body Tracking not detecting ARBodyAnchor on iOS 26.x (FB15128723)
Since updating to iOS 26.0 (and confirmed on 26.1), ARBodyTrackingConfiguration no longer detects a valid ARBodyAnchor on devices with LiDAR (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max). This issue reproduces in custom projects and Apple’s official sample “Capturing Body Motion in 3D”. The AR session runs normally, but the delegate call: func session(_ session: ARSession, didUpdate anchors: [ARAnchor]) never yields an ARBodyAnchor with valid joint transforms. All joints return nil when calling: body.skeleton.modelTransform(for: jointName) resulting in 0 valid joints per frame. Environment • Device: iPhone 17 Pro Max (LiDAR) • iOS: 26.0 / 26.1 • Xcode: 16.0 (stable) • Framework: ARKit + RealityKit • Configuration used: config.worldAlignment = .gravityAndHeading config.isAutoFocusEnabled = true config.environmentTexturing = .none session.run(config) Also tested: with and without frameSemantics = .bodyDetection Expected Behavior ARBodyAnchor should be detected and body.skeleton should contain ~89 valid joints with continuous updates.

Immersive API
After updating to visionOS 26.4, I went to Safari's Feature Flags page to reenable Website environment, and I found the Website environment switch had been moved from the top and into the list of switches below. In its place is "Immersive API". I could not find any documentation on this. Anyone know what it is for or can point me to documentation?

Can´t find a DLL in a VisionOS app with Unity
Dear all, I´m using Unity 6.2 beta and Xcode 16.2. I´m creating a simple framework to use the text to speech functionality in VisionOS from unity. The framework is created in Swift. I create an objective-c wrapper with the following declarations: ... void _initTTS(int); ... I create the framework, import it in Unity and call the functions in a c# wrapper class. The code is as follows: public static class TTSPluginManager { [DllImport("TTS_Vision"] private static extern void _initTTS(int val); ... public static void Initialize() { #if UNITY_VISIONOS _initTTS(0); #else Debug.LogWarning("NativeTTS.Initialize called on a non-iOS platform. Ignoring."); #endif } } I have managed to compile and run the program in the Apple Vision Pro, but I keep on getting the following error: DllNotFoundException: TTS_Vision assembly: type: member:(null) TTSPluginManager.Initialize () (at Assets/Plugins/TTSPluginManager.cs:33) LecturePortalManager.OnCreateStory (Ink.Runtime.Story story) (at Assets/AVRLecture/LecturePortalManager.cs:17) InkLoader.StartStory () (at Assets/AVRLecture/InkLoader.cs:24) InkLoader.Start () (at Assets/AVRLecture/InkLoader.cs:18) If I run the generated code from Xcode, I can see the app in the AVP, but I keep getting a loading error: DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'TTS_Vision'. Tried the load the following dynamic libraries: Unable to load dynamic library '/TTS_Vision' because of 'Failed to open the requested dynamic library (0x06000000) dlerror() = dlopen(/TTS_Vision, 0x0005): tried: '/TTS_Vision' (no such file) at TTSPluginManager.Initialize () [0x00000] in <00000000000000000000000000000000>:0 at LecturePortalManager.OnCreateStory (Ink.Runtime.Story story) [0x00000] in <00000000000000000000000000000000>:0 I can see in the generated code that the framework (TTS_Vision) is there, but the path seems wrong. I've tried to add more options to the searched paths, with no success... Any hints or suggestions are much more appreciated.

ImageAnchoringSource from URL
Hello, I was wondering how I can initialize an ImageAnchoringSource using https://developer.apple.com/documentation/realitykit/anchoringcomponent/imageanchoringsource/init(_:) When I construct one using a URL, it doesn't seem to be tracked and I see in the following when I debug print the component: ▿ 0 : AnchoringComponent ▿ target : Target ▿ referenceImage : 1 element ▿ from : ImageAnchoringSource ▿ url : Optional<URL> ▿ some : file:///var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/D1126EA0-A1D7-468F-A40C-8578B7F5BDDF/Library/Caches/CodeCache/0E457AA7-2195-48B9-9DD4-58CEB9397F69.png - _url : file:///var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/D1126EA0-A1D7-468F-A40C-8578B7F5BDDF/Library/Caches/CodeCache/0E457AA7-2195-48B9-9DD4-58CEB9397F69.png - _parseInfo : nil - _baseParseInfo : nil - name : nil - group : nil ▿ trackingMode : TrackingMode - trackingMode : 2 Is there a specific format for the parseInfo? When I use the same image to make an image anchoring source by group and name in AR Resources, it is tracked. Thank you!

LowLevelInstanceData & animation
AppleOS 26 introduces LowLevelInstanceData that can reduce CPU draw calls significantly by instancing. However, I have noticed trouble with animating each individual instance. As I wanted low-level control, I'm using a custom system and LowLevelInstanceData.replace(using:) to update the transform each frame. The update closure itself is extremely efficient (Xcode Instruments reports nearly no cost). But I noticed extremely high runloop time, reach around 20ms. Time Profiler shows that the CPU is blocked by kernel.release.t6401. I think it is caused by synchronization between CPU and GPU, however, as I am already using a MTLCommandBuffer to coordinate it, I don't understand why I am still seeing large CPU time.

Cannot find devices in RemoteImmersiveSpace
Hi, I'm running the Spatial Rendering App sample on a Macbook Pro running 26.4 Beta and the Vision Pro running visionOS 26.3.1. Handoff and SharePlay are on, both devices are on the same Apple ID and network, and SharePlay screen sharing works fine between the two devices. However, when calling openImmersiveSpace, the device picker fails to present and no devices are found. Errors from console: ((processConfiguration != nil && configuration != nil) || (processConfiguration == nil && configuration == nil)) - .../ExtensionKit/Source/HostViewController/Internal/EXHostSessionDriver.m:80: `processConfiguration` and `configuration` must be both non-nil or both nil Unable to obtain a task name port right for pid 638: (os/kern) failure (0x5) Unable to present an ImmersiveSpace for Scene id 'Compositor Services' Is this a known bug or I'm I missing something? Thanks!

Guided Access - Detect when setup (Eyes + Hands) is done
Hello, I am building a kiosk-style app for VisionOS which will be used in Guided Access mode, to be given to various visitors. So each of them will do hands + eyes setup, standard Guided Access thing. I want my experience to auto-start playing content when setup is done. I looked everywhere, but found no way do detect whether setup is complete? Also adding any kind of interface to start the app manually is risky, since buttons etc remain visible an interactable WHILE setup takes place. Delay-based approach also wont work, since setup can be skipped, or failed, or be done quickly, slowly... So it takes between 10 seconds and a few minutes. So the question is - is there any way to get notification, or check some bool or something that will tell me that Hands + Eyes setup in Guided mode is complete (or skipped)? Thanks in advance!

How to Achieve Volumetric Lighting (Light Shafts) in RealityKit on visionOS?
Hello everyone, I am currently developing an experience for visionOS using RealityKit and I would like to achieve volumetric light effects, such as visible light rays or shafts through fog or dust. I found this GitHub project: https://github.com/robcupisz/LightShafts, which demonstrates the kind of visual style I am aiming for. I would like to know if there is a way to create similar effects using RealityKit on visionOS. So far, I have experimented with DirectionalLight, SpotLight, ImageBasedLight, and custom materials (e.g., additive blending on translucent meshes), but none of these approaches can replicate the volumetric light shaft look shown in the repository above. Questions: Is there a recommended technique or workaround in RealityKit to simulate light shafts or volumetric lighting? Is creating a custom mesh (e.g., cone or volume geometry with gradient alpha and additive blending) the only feasible method? Are there any examples, best practices, or sample projects from Apple or other developers that showcase a similar visual style? Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

How to give spatial photo a custom corner radius?
Spatial photo in RealityView has a default corner radius. I made a parallel effect with spatial photos in ScrollView(like Spatial Gallery), but the corner radius disappeared on left and right spatial photos. I've tried .clipShape and .mask modifiers, but they did't work. How to clip or mask spatial photo with corner radius effect?

Thank you!

Full Body Tracking
Hi, is there a way to track feet in a visionOS app in an immersive space? I want the whole body to be visible in VR, and I want to know if the user touches an object with their foot.
