CarKeyRemoteControlSession always returning empty
We are developing an iOS app to connect to vehicles and trigger predefined vehicle controls (door lock/unlock) via the Digital Key framework. We are currently blocked on several aspects and would appreciate your expertise to clarify the following queries. How can we list down connected vehicle information? What is the method to retrieve connection status? How can we perform vehicle control actions (e.g., door lock/unlock)? STEPS TO REPRODUCE Starting the CarKeyRemoteControlSession to Fetch Vehicle Reports Currently, we are using the following API to start a CarKeyRemoteControlSession: open class func start( delegate: any CarKeyRemoteControlSessionDelegate, subscriptionRange subscriptionFunctionIDRange: ClosedRange? = nil, with delegateCallbackQueue: DispatchQueue? = nil ) async throws -> CarKeyRemoteControlSession After successfully creating the session, we check for vehicle reports using the vehicleReports property of CarKeyRemoteControlSession: public var vehicleReports: [VehicleReport] { get throws }

Is it work startMonitoring from DeviceActivityMonitorExtension's eventDidReachThreshold function?
I want to monitor again from the bellow function of DeviceActivityMonitorExtension. I have the function of startMonitoring like this. override func eventDidReachThreshold(_ event: DeviceActivityEvent.Name, activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.eventDidReachThreshold(event, activity: activity) startMonitoring() } public func startMonitoring() { let startTime = DateComponents(hour: 0, minute: 0, second: 0) let endTime = DateComponents(hour: 23, minute: 59, second: 59)//DateComponents(hour: 11, minute: 0, second: 0)// let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: startTime,//DateComponents(hour: 0, minute: 0, second: 0), intervalEnd: endTime, repeats: true //warningTime: DateComponents(minute:1) ) let selection: FamilyActivitySelection = savedSelection() ?? FamilyActivitySelection() let center = DeviceActivityCenter() let selections = self.savedSelection() ?? FamilyActivitySelection() let applications = selections.applicationTokens let categories = selections.categoryTokens let webCategories = selections.webDomainTokens let store = ManagedSettingsStore() store.shield.applicationCategories = ShieldSettings.ActivityCategoryPolicy.specific(categories, except: Set()) store.shield.applications = applications store.shield.webDomains = webCategories let scheduleHard = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: startTime,//DateComponents(hour: 0, minute: 0, second: 0), intervalEnd: endTime, repeats: true //warningTime: DateComponents(minute:1) ) let event = DeviceActivityEvent( applications: selection.applicationTokens, categories: selection.categoryTokens, webDomains: selection.webDomainTokens, threshold: DateComponents(minute: 0)//timeLimitToUseApp i.e for 15 mins ) do { try center.startMonitoring( .weekend, during: scheduleHard, events: [ .weekend: event, ] ) print("ScreenTime Monitoring Started") } catch let error { print(error.localizedDescription) } } Please provide us with a solution about starting monitoring from DeviceActivityMonitoringExtension's eventDidReachThreshold function or if there is any other way.

Deeplink between two standalone watchos App
I have two standalone app written for watchos (standalone). One to authenticate and one for connectivity to real-world devices. The connectivity app uses the authentication app before every action, Im testing this with two xcode projects I have created and tried different things ended up with this error. authapp://authenticate?callback=linkingapp://callback -[SPApplicationDelegate extensionConnection:openSystemURL:]:2418: URL with scheme "authapp" not supported how to get the url scheme working? Tested this in simulator and real device. info.plist and AppDelegate files are placed in both apps.

Social Login Firebase
I'm using react native with expo, firebase for auth, and I have google, facebook and Apple Sign In enabled. On my IOS simulator I can sign in using all 3 with no problems, but when I build and submit to test flight and test on a real device only google sign in works It crashes when I try to sign in with facebook and I get an error saying The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.AuthenticationServices.AuthorizationError error 1000.)

DeviceActivityMonitor.intervalDidEnd never getting called
I'm trying to build an app with a DeviceActivityMonitor extension that executes some code after 15 minutes. I can confirm that the extension is set up correctly and that intervalDidStart is executed, but for some reason the intervalDidEnd method never gets called. What I'm doing in both is just registering a local notification. class DeviceActivityMonitorExtension: DeviceActivityMonitor { let store = ManagedSettingsStore() override func intervalDidStart(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { createPushNotification( title: "Session activated!", body: "" ) super.intervalDidStart(for: activity) } override func intervalDidEnd(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { createPushNotification( title: "Session ended", body: "" ) super.intervalDidEnd(for: activity) } private func createPushNotification(title: String, body: String) { let content = UNMutableNotificationContent() content.title = title content.body = body // Configure the recurring date. var dateComponents = Calendar.current.dateComponents([.era, .year, .month, .day, .hour, .minute, .second], from: Date().addingTimeInterval(1.0)) dateComponents.calendar = Calendar.current dateComponents.timeZone = TimeZone.current // Create the trigger as a repeating event. let trigger = UNCalendarNotificationTrigger(dateMatching: dateComponents, repeats: false) let uuidString = UUID().uuidString let request = UNNotificationRequest(identifier: uuidString, content: content, trigger: trigger) // Schedule the request with the system. let notificationCenter = UNUserNotificationCenter.current() notificationCenter.add(request) } } And this is the method that is starting the monitoring session: @objc public static func startSession() -> String? { // Calculate start and end times let center = DeviceActivityCenter() let minutes = 15 let startDate = Date().addingTimeInterval(1) guard let endDate = Calendar.current.date(byAdding: .minute, value: minutes, to: startDate) else { return "Failed to create end date?" } // Create date components and explicitly set the calendar and timeZone let startComponents = Calendar.current.dateComponents([.era, .year, .month, .day, .hour, .minute, .second], from: startDate) let endComponents = Calendar.current.dateComponents([.era, .year, .month, .day, .hour, .minute, .second], from: endDate) // Create schedule let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: startComponents, intervalEnd: endComponents, repeats: false ) print("Now", Date()) print("Start", startDate, startComponents) print("End", endDate, endComponents) print(schedule.nextInterval) do { // Use a consistent activity name for our simple implementation let activity = DeviceActivityName("SimpleSession") try center.startMonitoring(activity, during: schedule) return nil } catch { return "Failed to start monitoring: \(error)" } } I can confirm my dates & date components make sense with the 4 print statements. Here is the output: Now 2025-02-12 04:21:32 +0000 Start 2025-02-12 04:21:33 +0000 era: 1 year: 2025 month: 2 day: 11 hour: 20 minute: 21 second: 33 isLeapMonth: false End 2025-02-12 04:36:33 +0000 era: 1 year: 2025 month: 2 day: 11 hour: 20 minute: 36 second: 33 isLeapMonth: false Optional(2025-02-12 04:21:33 +0000 to 2025-02-12 04:36:33 +0000) I get the Session activated! notification but never get the Session ended notification. Half an hour later, I've tried debugging the DeviceActivityCenter by printing out the activities property and can see that it is still there. When I try to print out the nextInterval property on the schedule object i get from calling center.schedule(for:), it returns nil. I'm running this on an iPhone 8 testing device with developer mode enabled. It has iOS 16.7.10. I'm totally lost as to how to get this to work.

Testing iMessage extension from recipient POV
Hello, I am building an iMessage extension for my app and I am struggling to figure out how to test it. The extension allows users to send their friends an interactive widget and the recipient experience is very important to test. I tried to do it in the simulators, but simulators do not support iMessage. I have got a second iPhone and created a sandbox account, but I cannot install TestFlight with the sandbox account, as this feature is not supported. Reddit, Stackoverflow, ChatGPT and Apple Developer support also did not help. Can someone share their experience with testing recipient experience in the iMessage extension?

Live caller id lookup onboard appstore
I have been working to implement Apple's Live Caller ID feature, which requires setting up a relay server. Following Apple's guidelines, I submitted a request through the provided link to utilize Apple's relay server. However, it's been three weeks, and I have yet to receive a response. I contacted Apple Support, but they indicated that this is a technical matter beyond their scope. Has anyone successfully received confirmation from Apple regarding the use of their relay server for Live Caller ID? If so, could you share your experience or any advice on how to proceed? url: https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/live-caller-id-lookup/ Thank you.

Translation API & Download Language Sheet
Using Apple SwiftUI Translate library: when calling: try await session.prepareTranslation() the first time, the API's Language Download sheet does not show (or shows briefly and dismisses immediately) Even when the sheet doesn't show, the keyboard is lowered, as though the sheet would be appearing, but then the keyboard raises as though the sheet was dismissed. The following Errors are printed in the console dozens of times; but on all subsequent executions, the API Language Download sheet shows as expected. The trigger code is in a function which is executed when a Translate button is tapped. Any ideas would be welcome! Date that is not linked to TimeZone
Hello, I'm creating an app that stores multiple Date objects: the users selects a date and a time and receives a notification at this time precisely. The problem that happens is after saving a Date, if the device's timezone changes, the Date also changes - and that is not what's I'm expecting (just want the original time as is without depending on timezone). I have inspected the TimeZone properties when I'm building the Date from DateComponents but nothing has worked. Thank you for your answer.

Creating ApplicationToken with Decoder from string
I've been working a lot with the FamilyControls API and App Shield recently but have encountered a problem with no documentation. I used the FamilyActivitySelection to select the app store to shield(This is just for testing), and then printed out the application token: 1wfY¸êB ò S« öi #×(É?âðw ù/jQ ¿ J ïE¢? ·¿ º<Òd?ý r7¥Ãn N átJ¹ÿ85B_{VAF fC8. ,,¸¯3 T7F ±õü; ¹?v@¯ô Ä \-õ# Ò I know the application token is a Codable object so I was wondering, How do I create an application token using the Token<Application> initializer init(from: any Decoder) throws Creates a new instance by decoding from the given decoder. Using the above data? Do I have to encode first in order to decode it? For reference, the code I tried to use is: newValue.applicationTokens.encode(to: JSONEncoder) if let encoded = try? JSONEncoder().encode(newValue.applicationTokens) { data = encoded print(String(data: data, encoding: .utf8)!) } if let app = try? JSONDecoder().decode(Token<Application>.self, from: data) { let token = Application(token: app) print(token) } else { print("didn't work") } But it prints didn't work every time. What should I do differently?

CNContact poster
Hi all, From what I’ve seen on forums and other sources, it appears that nothing can be done to set the contact poster programmatically. Setting the imageData property affects only the thumbnail image. Does anyone know if this is explicitly documented somewhere? I need this information for a POC document. I watched the iOS 17 keynote (where it was introduced), the Platform State of Union, and other WWDC videos, but I couldn’t find any mention of it. The Contacts framework documentation only explains what can be retrieved from this property and doesn’t mention any way to set the contact poster. If anyone has any information on this, please help! Thanks in advance!

Contacts Framework Question
Hey, I would love to access the users Contact (ie. the Me Card) Apple recently released the Invites app and within this app you can find the users Contacts Photo. I tried to replicate this behaviour but I currently need to match based on a name or email or something else. I have no idea how to receive this data because when using the Invites app I only remember the app asking for Contacts permission and nothing else so far. let store = CNContactStore() let keysToFetch = [CNContactImageDataAvailableKey, CNContactImageDataKey, CNContactThumbnailImageDataKey] as [CNKeyDescriptor] let email = "test@test.de" let predicate = CNContact.predicateForContacts(matchingEmailAddress: email) do { let contacts = try store.unifiedContacts(matching: predicate, keysToFetch: keysToFetch) let imageDatas: [Data] = contacts.compactMap { $0.imageData } self.images = imageDatas.map { UIImage(data: $0) ?? UIImage() } } catch { print("Error fetching contacts: \(error)") } This is how I am retrieving the Image. MAYBE someone can help me out. Thank you so far ~ Flo

Live Caller ID Lookup - CipherMLError.missingSecre t Ke y error
I'm trying to implement live caller id PIR server in python and I have an issue related to evaluation key config. I don't receive the POST /key request even if I try to install the extension on new device and I had this error in device system logs: error 11:21:30.663022+0200 ciphermld requestData(byKeywords:shardIds:clientConfig:) threw an error: CipherML.CipherMLError.missingSecre t Ke y I think the reason why the evaluation key is not generated is related to this error but I'm not sure. It might be also related to HE params - I tried with the same params as in swift server example with plaintext_modulus=17 and it works, but for plaintext_modulus=65537 on the same device the system doesn't send me the evaluation key. Is there a limitation that restricts the evaluation key generation for some HE params? There is how the entire config object that I retrieve looks like: { "configs": { "Live-C aller-ID-Lookup. Token Selection from DeviceActivityReport
I'd like to allow users to select apps to shield from a DeviceActivityReport (similar to how Apple's Screen Time Settings activity report allows a user to "add limits" to a selected app in the report. What I need to do is pass an appToken from the DeviceActivityReportExtension to my app. I realize the extension is sandboxed and doesn't allow "private" data to be seen outside of the sandbox. The docs state: To protect the user’s privacy, your extension runs in a sandbox. This sandbox prevents your extension from making network requests or moving sensitive content outside the extension’s address space. However, tokens aren't "sensitive". I want to pass a token set out of the sandboxed extension so users can select certain apps from the report that my app can use for setting limits, etc. I thought using App Groups and saving data with UserDefaults with a suiteName for my app group would do it, but it doesn't appear to allow me to pass the token data. Yes I'm using the same KEY for both as I set a config enum to ensure it's the same and I can pass tokens successfully between other extensions/apps in the app group, but not the report extension. It seems the app and the extension have their own stores as the report extension can write to and read from a store but despite being the same suiteName, other apps in the app group don't get or send data to the Report Extension. I realize this is probably due to the design with the sandbox to protect user privacy, however it seems an exception should be made for passing tokens (or even better allow passing through another method like a callback, etc). Is there ay way to accomplish passing a token from the sandboxed report extension to my app?

How can a live caller id database be scaled to support millions of numbers that constantly change if it must be KPIR encoded?
The example database/server provided by Apple for Live Caller ID contains a hardcoded database with a tiny number of pre-defined numbers. However, its not expected to be representational of an live real world usage server. But the question is how can that be accomplished if its a requirement that the data be KPIR encrypted? In real world scenarios, the factors that effect whether a number should be blocked or not are continually changing and evolving on a minute-by-minute basis and new information becomes available or existing information changes. If the database supports tens of millions or hundreds of millions of constantly changing phone numbers, in order to meet the requirements of the Live Caller ID being KPIR encrypted, that would imply the database has to re-encrypt its database of millions endlessly for all time. That seems unfeasable and impractical to implement. Therefore how do the Apple designers of this feature envisage/suggest a real-world server supporting millions of changing data should meet the requirement to be KPIR encrypted?

Share extension with App Group: UserDefaults don't get persisted on iOS
I have a multiplatform app for Mac and iOS, for which I am implementing a share extension. This share extension has to share settings with the app itself on both platforms. I am currently trying to achieve this by adding all targets to the same App Group and using UserDefaults with the App Group as suiteName. The app consists of three targets: A multiplatform SwiftUI app, an iOS Share Extension, and a macOS Share Extension,. Settings get persisted correctly on Mac and on the iOS 26 simulator. However, on a real iOS 26 beta 3 device, the Share Extension is unable to load UserDefaults (loading anything with the App Group as a suite name returns nil). What could cause this behavior? The following log entries are generated from the Share Extension on the iOS device, but not on the iOS simulator: Couldn't read values in CFPrefsPlistSource<0x1030d3c80> (Domain: MY_APP_GROUP, User: kCFPreferencesAnyUser, ByHost: Yes, Container: (null), Contents Need Refresh: Yes): Using kCFPreferencesAnyUser with a container is only allowed for System Containers, detaching from cfprefsd 59638328 Plugin query method called (501) Invalidation handler invoked, clearing connection (501) personaAttributesForPersonaType for type:0 failed with error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service named com.apple.mobile.usermanagerd.xpc was invalidated from this process." Weatherkit - visibility units and height
reposting this in case it got missed the first time around here https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/775900 We had a question that came up when we comparing data from WeatherKit to other sources - WeatherKit visibility was well beyond the boundaries we had historically, even from Darksky. That raises two questions: is visibility actually in meters like the docs say? is this visibility at ground level, 500ft, or some other height? We were seeing visibility numbers of up to 40 miles (after converting the number the API sent to miles), where all of our other sources are usually within 10 miles
