Clarifications on App Store Server API, StoreKit 1 vs StoreKit 2, and Subscription Notification Handling
Hi everyone, We are currently working on improving our subscription backend integration with Apple’s App Store Server API and StoreKit, and had a few questions around StoreKit 1 vs StoreKit 2 behavior and server-to-server notifications. Looking for clarification on the following points: /inApps/v1/subscriptions/{originalTransactionId} response compatibility Does the App Store Server API endpoint /inApps/v1/subscriptions/{originalTransactionId} return consistent response structures for subscriptions created via StoreKit 1 and StoreKit 2, or are there any differences we should account for when parsing the response? Transaction format in S2S notifications for StoreKit 1 purchases If a user initially purchases a subscription using StoreKit 1, and the subscription renews later, what transaction format is sent in server-to-server notifications? Does Apple still maintain StoreKit 1 style transaction payloads, or Are they converted into StoreKit 2–style signed transactions? Validation of signedTransactionInfo and signedRenewalInfo In App Store Server Notifications V2, the payload includes signedTransactionInfo and signedRenewalInfo. Is there an official Apple API endpoint that can be used to validate these tokens? Offer / coupon identification from S2S notifications Can server-to-server notifications reliably indicate which offer was applied (intro offer, promotional offer, or offer code)? If yes, which fields in the transaction payload should be used to identify this? Trial period identification in StoreKit 2 In StoreKit 1, the field is_trial_period was commonly used to detect free trials. Since this is deprecated in StoreKit 2, which field or transaction property should be used to identify whether a purchase corresponds to a trial period?

Getting location in an Apple Watch widget
I have a watchOS WidgetKit complication that needs the user's location to show the nearest transit station, but the widget never gets location permission and CLLocationManager times out. Setup: NSWidgetWantsLocation = YES in Widget Extension's Info.plist NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription and NSLocationAlwaysAndWhenInUseUsageDescription in Widget Extension's Info.plist Watch App successfully has location authorization Problem: The system never presents a location permission prompt for my widget. Apple's own World Clock widget does get one on watchOS (see screenshot) — I can't figure out what triggers it. When the widget tries to get location via CLLocationManager, the request times out and never returns a location. Questions: What triggers the system location prompt for a watchOS widget? Is NSWidgetWantsLocation sufficient or is something else required? Why would CLLocationManager time out and never return a location inside a widget extension? Is there a specific pattern required for requesting location in a WidgetKit timeline provider? Screenshots Sorry for swedish, but it says "Do you allow widgets from World Clock to use your location services?"

Testing HCE Default Payment App Behavior Outside Supported Regions
Hi, I am developing an app that uses the Host Card Emulation (HCE) technology available on iOS. Our team is using the official HCE app entitlement, and we are testing the SDK’s behavior when the app is selected as the default contactless payment application. On devices located in supported regions, the system automatically displays a setting where the user can choose the default app. For colleagues who are located in those regions, the toggle appears normally. For development and QA purposes, I would like to understand whether there is an officially supported method to test the default-app selection behavior on devices that are not in a region where the feature is available. Any guidance on the correct testing approach would be appreciated. Thank you!

APNs notification not getting delivered to only one device in production environment
I have a messaging app that has been working successfully for several years. It still works for most users, but about one month ago one of my users started experiencing issues receiving notifications. From my investigation, the user's Notification Service Extension (NSE) has not been triggered since they started reporting the issue. I was able to access the user's phone and connected it to the console to check for any logs related to the NSE being triggered or a push notification being received, but there were no relevant logs. I have already verified that notifications are enabled for the app and that Do Not Disturb is not active. I also tried sending a test notification using the CloudKit Console. The notification was successfully delivered to other push notification tokens, but it did not work for this specific device’s token. I have also confirmed that the push token on the server matches the one on the device and that it is being used with the APNs production environment. The issue for this user started in iOS version 26.2 and are still ongoing in version 26.3.1 . Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have suggestions on how to further diagnose this?

Clarification on clonefile / copyfile support of clone directories?
The man page of copyfile sates the following: COPYFILE_CLONE [..] Note also that there is no support for cloning directories" COPYFILE_CLONE_FORCE [...] Note also that there is no support for cloning directories: if a directory is provided as the source, an error will be returned. Now the man page for clonefile: > Cloning directories with these functions is strongly discouraged. Use copyfile(3) to clone directories instead. -- So am I to enumerate the content of a directory build subfolders along the way in the target destination and clone each file inside individually? If I recall NSFileManager seems to clone a large directory instantly (edit actually I remembered wrong NSFileManager does not do this. Finder seems to copy instead of clone as well). On further inspection, clonefile states that it can do this, but it is discouraged. Interesting. I wonder why. If src names a directory, the directory hierarchy is cloned as if each item was cloned individually. However, the use of clonefile(2) to clone directory hierarchies is strongly discouraged. Use copyfile(3) instead for copying directories. P.S. - Forgive me if I posting this in the wrong category, I couldn't find a "category" in the list of available categories on these forums that seems appropriate for this question.

Can Screen Time API block an app without blocking its notifications?
Hi, I’m building an iOS app called SocialLite using Apple’s Screen Time APIs, primarily FamilyControls and ManagedSettings. My goal is to block access to the Instagram app itself, while still allowing the user to receive and see Instagram notifications. Right now, when I apply the shield/block using the Screen Time API, the Instagram app is blocked as expected, but its notifications also appear to be blocked/suppressed at the same time. What I’m trying to achieve: Block the Instagram app from being opened Still allow Instagram notifications to come through normally Current behavior: The app is blocked Notifications are also blocked or no longer visible My question: Is there any supported way with Apple’s Screen Time API / ManagedSettings to shield or block an app while still allowing that app’s notifications? Or are app access and notifications tied together by design when a shield is applied? If this behavior is expected, I’d appreciate confirmation from Apple or guidance on whether there is another supported approach. Thanks.

Problem with the in-App Purchase
Hello, Can someone please tell me why the unlock button was unresponsive when tapped? The restore button worked. if let price = store.product?.displayPrice { Text(price) .font(.title2.bold()) .padding(.top, 4) } Button { Task { await store.purchase() } } label: { ZStack { if store.isLoading { ProgressView() .tint(.white) } else { Text("paywall.buy") .font(.headline) } } .frame(maxWidth: .infinity) .padding() } .background(.blue) .foregroundStyle(.white) .clipShape(RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 14)) .disabled(store.product == nil || store.isLoading) Button { Task { await store.restorePurchases() } } label: { Text("paywall.restore") }

How does Numbers.app detect that a document was moved to Recently Deleted, and can third-party apps implement the same behavior?
The Numbers.app reopens the last edited document when the app launches. If the document was moved to another folder in the Files.app while the app was not running, Numbers.app correctly tracks the file and reopens it. However, if the document was deleted in the Files.app and moved to Recently Deleted, Numbers.app does not reopen the document when the app launches. Question : How does Numbers.app detect that a document has been moved to Recently Deleted? Can third-party apps implement the same behavior? What I tested : If a file is moved while the app is not running, resolving a bookmark successfully tracks the moved file. Files that are deleted via the Files.app appear in Recently Deleted, but those files are actually moved to the following directories: iCloud Drive /var/mobile/Library/Mobile Documents/.Trash/ On My iPad /var/mobile/Containers/Shared/AppGroup/{UUID}/File Provider Storage/.Trash/ App sandbox Documents directory ([On My iPad]/[Any App]) /var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/{UUID}/Documents/.Trash/ When resolving the bookmark after deletion, the bookmark still resolves successfully and returns the new file URL inside the .Trash directory. I tried the following checks on the resolved URL: Checking file existence Checking read/write accessibility Inspecting bookmark resolution results Using APIs related to NSTrashDirectory See https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/813329#813329021 All of these behaved the same as when the file was moved to a normal directory. None of these checks allowed me to detect that the file had been deleted. Additional experiment: I suspected that the app might simply check whether the path contains ".Trash", so I performed the following experiment. If a .numbers file is moved to /var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/{UUID}/Documents/.Trash/ then The file appears in Recently Deleted in Files.app Numbers.app does not reopen the document when the app launches However, if the same file is moved to Documents/Trash Documents/.Trashed Documents/Any Folder/.Trash then The file does not appear in Recently Deleted in Files Numbers does reopen the document when launched This suggests that Numbers.app is not simply checking whether the path contains ".Trash".

Apple Pay Sandbox: onpaymentauthorized not fired after successful authentication (started March 6)
Hello, We are encountering an issue with Apple Pay on the Web in the sandbox environment where payments cannot be completed because the onpaymentauthorized event is not triggered. The same implementation was working normally until March 5, but the issue started occurring consistently from March 6 without any changes to our code, certificates, or merchant configuration. Environment Apple Pay on the Web (JavaScript) Safari (iOS / macOS) Apple Pay Sandbox Merchant domain verified Merchant validation succeeds Observed Flow The Apple Pay flow proceeds normally until authentication: User clicks the Apple Pay button ApplePaySession.begin() is called onvalidatemerchant fires Merchant validation request succeeds completeMerchantValidation() is called Apple Pay sheet is displayed User authenticates with Face ID / Touch ID onpaymentauthorized is never triggered Because this event never fires, the payment token is not returned and the payment cannot proceed. ApplePaySession Request { "countryCode": "JP", "currencyCode": "JPY", "merchantCapabilities": ["supports3DS"], "supportedNetworks": ["visa", "masterCard"], "total": { "label": "Test Payment", "type": "final", "amount": "100" } } Merchant Validation Merchant validation succeeds and returns a valid session from Apple. Relevant fields from the merchant session: merchantIdentifier: 35A786BE6AB4... domainName: secure.telecom-awstest.com displayName: ApplePay Additional Notes Apple Pay sheet appears normally Authentication completes successfully No JavaScript errors are logged onpaymentauthorized is never fired Issue occurs consistently in the sandbox environment Confirmed across multiple iOS versions Question Has anyone experienced a similar issue recently in the Apple Pay sandbox environment, or are there any known changes that could cause the onpaymentauthorized event not to fire after authentication? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is calling different SBApplication objects from different threads bad?
Not quite but maybe sorta related to the errOSAInternalTableOverflow problem I asked about in a different thread, this one deals with crashes our app gets (and much more frequently lately after recent OS updates (15.7.3) are OK'd by our IT department). Our app can run multiple jobs concurrently, each in their own NSOperation. Each op creates its own SBApplication instance that controls unique instances of InDesignServer. What I'm seeing recently is lots of crashes happening while multiple ops are calling into ScriptingBridge. Shown at the bottom is one of the stack crawls from one of the threads. I've trimmed all but the last of our code. Other threads have a similar stack crawl. In searching for answers, Google's AI overview mentions "If you must use multiple threads, ensure that each thread creates its own SBApplication instance…" Which is what we do. No thread can reach another thread's SBApplication instance. Is that statement a lie? Do I need to lock around every ScriptingBridge call (which is going to severely slow things down)? 0 AE 0x1a7dba8d4 0x1a7d80000 + 239828 1 AE 0x1a7d826d8 AEProcessMessage + 3496 2 AE 0x1a7d8f210 0x1a7d80000 + 61968 3 AE 0x1a7d91978 0x1a7d80000 + 72056 4 AE 0x1a7d91764 0x1a7d80000 + 71524 5 CoreFoundation 0x1a0396a64 __CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE0_PERFORM_FUNCTION__ + 28 6 CoreFoundation 0x1a03969f8 __CFRunLoopDoSource0 + 172 7 CoreFoundation 0x1a0396764 __CFRunLoopDoSources0 + 232 8 CoreFoundation 0x1a03953b8 __CFRunLoopRun + 840 9 CoreFoundation 0x1a03949e8 CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 572 10 AE 0x1a7dbc108 0x1a7d80000 + 246024 11 AE 0x1a7d988fc AESendMessage + 4724 12 ScriptingBridge 0x1ecb652ac -[SBAppContext sendEvent:error:] + 80 13 ScriptingBridge 0x1ecb5eb4c -[SBObject sendEvent:id:keys:values:count:] + 216 14 ScriptingBridge 0x1ecb6890c -[SBCommandThunk invoke:] + 376 15 CoreFoundation 0x1a037594c ___forwarding___ + 956 16 CoreFoundation 0x1a03754d0 _CF_forwarding_prep_0 + 96 17 RRD 0x1027fca18 -[AppleScriptHelper runAppleScript:withSubstitutionValues:usingSBApp:] + 1036

Apple Pay with one domain and several PSP integration
We already have an apple pay integration with a psp.
We have a merchant id with an identity certificate, a processing certificate and merchant domains. We are working to integrate an other psp. This psp have one csr (processing certificate) by customer. All the payment will be processed on the same domain. We have understood that it is not possible to have different processing certificates for a merchant id. So we can not reused our existing merchant id.

On the other hand, it seems that it is not possible to have different merchant ids on the same domain (because of the domain verification). But all payments are processed on the same domain.

Do you think there is a solution ?
Is there a recommended workaround for this scenario?

How to initiate native cellular calls without user confirmation from a companion app (like Meta Ray-Ban glasses)
We are building an AI-powered smart glasses companion app, similar to Meta Ray-Ban. We want to provide true hands-free calling support. Right now, whenever the app tries to dial a native cellular call, iOS shows a confirmation screen that requires the user to tap to start the call. If the user always has to confirm/tap on the phone screen, there is no real point in using smart glasses for making calls. How can we initiate a native outgoing call without any confirmation dialog or extra tap, exactly like Siri does it, or like the Meta Ray-Ban glasses do when the user says “Hey Meta, call [name]” Please guide us on the correct APIs, entitlements, or integration path to achieve this behavior. Thank you.

iOS 26 Network Framework AWDL not working
Hello, I have an app that is using iOS 26 Network Framework APIs. It is using QUIC, TLS 1.3 and Bonjour. For TLS I am using a PKCS#12 identity. All works well and as expected if the devices (iPhone with no cellular, iPhone with cellular, and iPad no cellular) are all on the same wifi network. If I turn off my router (ie no more wifi network) and leave on the wifi toggle on the iOS devices - only the non cellular iPhone and iPad are able to discovery and connect to each other. My iPhone with cellular is not able to. By sharing my logs with Cursor AI it was determined that the connection between the two problematic peers (iPad with no cellular and iPhone with cellular) never even makes it to the TLS step because I never see the logs where I print out the certs I compare. I tried doing "builder.requiredInterfaceType(.wifi)" but doing that blocked the two non cellular devices from working. I also tried "builder.prohibitedInterfaceTypes([.cellular])" but that also did not work. Is AWDL on it's way out? Should I focus my energy on Wi-Fi Aware? Regards, Captadoh

HKLiveWorkoutBuilder begincollection freezes in WatchOS simulator
The second time i start a workout session, the beginCollection instance method on HKLiveWorkoutBuilder freezes. To recreate run the Apple Sample Project Building a multidevice workout app. It looks like a bug with the HealthKit SDK and not the code but i could be wrong. The only workaround i found was erasing the simulator and reinstalling the app.

Unable to invalidate interval: no data source available error when fetching steps using HKStatisticsCollectionQuery
While attempting to read a user’s daily step history spanning backward to the last 7 days, a small but consistent subset of users encounter Error Code 3 with the underlying error description: Error Code 3 "Unable to invalidate interval: no data source available." When this error occurs, we are entirely unable to read their step history. We have received ~10 direct user reports of this within the last couple of weeks.

Unable to enable eligibility for External Purchase Link APIs — seeking clarification
Hello, I am currently implementing External Purchase Link and External Purchase Custom Link and am encountering an issue where both ExternalPurchaseLink.canOpen and ExternalPurchaseCustomLink.isEligible always return false under all test conditions. I would like to confirm whether my setup is missing any required steps or whether this behavior is expected. Below are the details of my current environment and configuration: 🔧 1. Development Environment Xcode: 16.3, 16.4, 26.0 beta 4 Devices: iPhone running iOS 26.2 beta iPhone running iOS 16.7.12 macOS 15.5 (real device testing) Simulator iOS 18.0 Build Type: Local development build using a Developer Provisioning Profile Sandbox account signed in during testing 🔑 2. Entitlements (Developer site & Xcode) In Certificates → Identifiers → App ID, both capabilities are enabled: StoreKit External Purchase StoreKit External Purchase Link The .entitlements file in Xcode includes: com.apple.developer.storekit.external-purchase = YES com.apple.developer.storekit.external-purchase-link = YES The Provisioning Profile also contains both entitlements (confirmed via codesign -d --entitlements :-). 📄 3. Info.plist Configuration Both keys are configured with correct region codes according to documentation: SKExternalPurchase SKExternalPurchaseCustomLinkRegions 🌍 4. Test Storefront Device storefront verified as United States (US) or Portugal (PT) (US = target region for External Purchase Link, PT = EU region) But despite all the above configuration, both API calls consistently return false: ExternalPurchaseLink.canOpen // false ExternalPurchaseCustomLink.isEligible // false So I cannot proceed to testing the remaining flow (token retrieval, link opening, etc.) ------ Questions ------ ❓ Q1) Local Development Build Limitation Is it expected behavior that Developer-signed local builds always return canOpen = false / isEligible = false for External Purchase Link & Custom Link? Is there a technical or policy restriction that prevents eligibility in local dev builds? ❓ Q2) App Store Connect Configuration Requirement Are there mandatory App Store Connect settings (such as external purchase URLs, support URL, disclosures, or country configuration) that must be enabled before eligibility becomes true? Currently, no External Purchase Link or Custom Link menu is visible in my App Store Connect app settings. Is this menu only available after certain approvals or under specific conditions? ❓ Q3) TestFlight Requirement Do External Purchase Link and Custom Link only return eligibility = true on: TestFlight builds, or Distribution-signed builds? Or should eligibility also work on developer builds? Formal confirmation would be helpful. ❓ Q4) Developer Account Type Limitation We are using an Individual Developer Account (not Organization). Can Individual accounts fully request, test, and ship apps using: External Purchase Link External Purchase Custom Link Or are there limitations on account type? 🙏 Request We have completed all documented setup steps (Entitlements → Provisioning → Info.plist), but eligibility remains false, blocking feature validation. Please clarify which of the following is the cause: Local development builds do not support eligibility Missing App Store Connect configuration (not visible to us) Account type restriction Region rollout or entitlement approval requirement Any additional setup not documented publicly Thank you for your assistance.

Wi-Fi Raw Socket Disconnection Issue on iPhone 17 Series
On my iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max devices, running iOS 26.0, 26.0.1, and 26.1, Wi-Fi raw socket communication works flawlessly. Even after keeping the connection active for over 40 minutes, there are no disconnections during data transmission. However, on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, the raw socket connection drops within 20 seconds. Once it disconnects, the socket cannot reconnect unless the Wi-Fi module itself is reset. I believe this issue is caused by a bug in the iPhone 17 series’ communication module. I have looked into many cases, and it appears to be related to a bug in the N1 chipset. Are there any possible solutions or workarounds for this issue?

StoreKit / react-native-iap – Payment deducted but no transaction returned (India UPI users)
Hello, We are facing an issue with In-App Purchases (subscriptions) in two iOS apps built with React Native + react-native-iap. Issue Some users receive the error: E_CONNECTION_CLOSED during the purchase flow. However: The payment is successfully deducted via the App Store. The subscription appears in the user's Apple ID subscription list. But on our side: The app does not receive the StoreKit transaction callback No receipt or transaction ID is delivered Our backend cannot validate the purchase. Restore Purchases When affected users try Restore Purchases, StoreKit returns: No purchases found even though the subscription is visible in their Apple ID. Most affected users are from India, and many payments are made via UPI through App Store billing. Has anyone experienced a case where: *the user is charged *the subscription exists in Apple ID *but StoreKit never returns the transaction or receipt? Any suggestions on how to recover these transactions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks!
