Does WKWebview support encrypted DNS when using Network.framework PrivacyContext Api?
After App uses Network.framework PrivacyContext Api, dns has been encrypted, that is good. But when using wkwebview to load web page, wireshark captures normal dns request sent by wkwebview. Does wkwebview use DoH to resolve domain? if can, how to config params? If can not, is there anyway to stop wkwebview sending normal dns, such as local proxy.

Animation Ghosting with animation-timeline on 120HZ ProMotion Devices
On iOS Devices with ProMotion (120HZ) if you animate Elements on your Page with animation-timeline you get Ghosting Effects. You can not see the Ghosting with a Simulator or on Screenshots, only on real Devices. To Reproduce I made a Minimal Example: https://codesandbox.io/p/sandbox/120hztest-xrwgtc When you scroll quickly on the Page with an iOS 120HZ Device (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smartphones_with_a_high_refresh_rate_display) you will see ghosting on the Top of the right Element (animation-timeline) and no ghosting on the other animated Element. (I edited the Screenshot, to Illustrate how the Effect looks like, since it is only visible on the real Display)

WKWebView isBlockedByScreenTime
WKWebView has a new property "isBlockedByScreenTime" since iOS 26. But I do not yet understand when exactly this property could be used. When I setup content-based restrictions in the ScreenTime settings then WKWebView reports an error 105 via "webView:didFailProvisionalNavigation:" delegate. The isBlockedByScreenTime property still returns false in this case. If ScreenTime has a time-based limit, the App would not run at all. Under which circumstances would the property "isBlockedByScreenTime" return the value true? When exactly and for what can this property be actually used? The "problem" is that I want to find if a web page is blocked and can not be loaded, why this is the case. By simply trial and error I found out that WKWebView returns error codes 104 and 105 for blocked web sites because of content filters and Screen Time restrictions, however these error codes are not documented at all (at least I've not found any documentation or documentation for these error codes and also some other codes like 100, 102, 204 etc), so I'm not really sure if I handle all cases correctly. I hoped that isBlockedByScreenTime would at least tell me one reason for blocked pages. If there are documents which explain these error codes (100 and above), where I can find these?

Referer Header is not included for requests in WKWebView
"The Referer header allows a server to identify referring pages that people are visiting from or where requested resources are being used. " This header is never forwarded to server when the user is browsing the website in a WebView. This is properly maintained by other browsers but not in-app. How do I include it?

Unexpected Safari useragent for www.espn.com, fixed when disabling site-specfic hacks
Recently we started noticing in Safari v18.2 browser an unexpected useragent set for https://www.espn.com pages like - "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/110.0.0.0 Safari/537.36" (recognized as Chrome by most UA detection logic) and breaks our video playback in some scenarios. When digging into this we came across site specific quirks and the "Disable site-specific hacks" setting which fixed the playback functionality and set a more expected UA - "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/18.2 Safari/605.1.15". Is the unexpected UA being set somewhere in Safari/Webkit? Can this be removed so site functionality works without needing to find the "Disable site-specific hacks" setting?

Add Authorization header to WKWebView
How can i add Authorization header to a wkwebview. I checked https://developer.apple.com/documentation/foundation/nsurlrequest#1776617 which says Authorization header is a reserved http header and shouldn’t be set. I want to set it when requesting a url in wkwebview for authentication purpose?

Add background.js to Safari App Extension
I develop a tab manager extension: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/tab-finder-for-safari/id6741719894 It's written purely in Swift. All Safari interactions are done solely inside a SFSafariExtensionHandler . But now i'm considering adding some features from Google Chrome's Extension API like window switching. Is it possible to add a background.js worker to my existing Safari App Extension to have access to the beginRequest method override inside SFSafariExtensionHandler? Without converting my extension from Safari App Extension to Safari Web Extenion?

Safari Extension Not Appearing or Disappearing Intermittently on iPad (iOS 18.3)
I’m encountering an issue with a Safari extension bundled with our main application (F-Secure). The extension is not appearing consistently in Safari settings on a customer’s iPad running iOS 18.3. Below are the details of the issue: Issue Description The Safari extension is bundled with the main app (F-Secure). After installing the app, the extension should automatically appear in Settings > Safari > Extensions, where the user can enable it. On the customer’s iPad, the extension is missing from the Safari settings. It briefly appeared once but then disappeared again.

Apple Sign In - Double prompt issue
Hi, we have PWA for which we´ve built a wrapper using PWA Builder tool and we are experiencing an issue with apple sign in. When we try to redirect the user to "https://appleid.apple.com/auth/authorize?...params...", a bottom sheet login prompt appears and only once the user signs in using the prompt he is then redirected to the url where he needs to sign in again and then we get the callback. We want to get rid of that bottom sheet prompt. The code we´ve tried: ` iosButton.addEventListener('click', function () { window.location.href = "https://appleid.apple.com/auth/authorize?client_id=xxxxx&redirect_uri=xxxxx&response_type=code%20id_token&scope=name%20email&response_mode=form_post"; });` The alternative code we´ve tried for which it seems that nothing happens, we only see the "Started" alert, we´ve confirmed that there is no other error : ` <script src="https://appleid.cdn-apple.com/appleauth/static/jsapi/appleid/1/en_US/appleid.auth.js"></script> <script> (function initAppleSignIn() { try { window.AppleID.auth.init({ clientId: "{{ env('APPLE_WEB_CLIENT_ID') }}", scope: "name email", redirectURI: window.location.origin +"/auth/apple/callback", usePopup: true }); } catch (e) { console.warn('Apple Sign-In init skipped:', e); } })(); function appleButtonClicked() { alert("Started"); try { const res = await window.AppleID.auth.signIn(); } catch (err) { alert("Got error"); } alert("Got here"); } </script>

How to trigger Safari App Extension with a keyboard shortcut without a content script and Accessibility permissions?
I have a Safari App Extension which allows users to switch between last open tabs with a shortcut option+tab in the same way it's possible to switch between last open apps with command+tab. Here is how i do it: I inject a content script on all websites which has the only thing – key listener for option+tab presses. When a user presses option+tab, that keyboard listener detects it and sends a message to the Safari Handler. Then Safari Handler sends a message to the containing app and it shows a panel with last open tabs. This approach has a problem: it shows a message to a user in settings: "Can read sensitive info from web pages, including passwords..." Which is bad, because in reality i don't read passwords. If i remove SFSafariContentScript key in the Safari App Extension target's Info.plist, then this message about reading sensitive data disappears, but then i loose the ability to open the tabs panel. How can I open my app window with a shortcut without frightening a user? It's possible to listen to global key presses, but that would require a user to grant the app permissions of Accessibility (Privacy & Security) in macOS system settings, which also sounds shady. I know an app which does not require an Accessibility permission: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/tabback-lite/id6469582909 and at the same time it does not tell a user about reading sensitive data in the extension settings. Here is my app: https://apps.apple.com/ua/app/tab-finder/id6741719894 It's open-source: https://github.com/kopyl/safari-tab-switcher

WKWebView based Browser Yubikey&WebAuthn Support
TLDR: I’m searching for a possibility to allow the usage of passkeys and hardware keys for any website in a wkwebview INFO: The browser is macOS ONLY Hi, I couldn’t really find documentation or forums posts on how to implement Webauthn for signin or hardware security keys for a second factor. Or rather where those events are triggered to be handled. In Safari you have that popover, that lets you either authenticate through Passwords or with a security key. When I visit webauthn.io for testing and click either register or authenticate I get Told not to present authorization sheet: Error Domain=com.apple.AuthenticationServicesCore.AuthorizationError Code=1 "(null)" ASAuthorizationController credential request failed with error: Error Domain=com.apple.AuthenticationServices.AuthorizationError Code=1004 "(null)" If I add func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, didReceive challenge: URLAuthenticationChallenge, completionHandler: @escaping @MainActor (URLSession.AuthChallengeDisposition, URLCredential?) -> Void) and func webView(_ webView: WKWebView, authenticationChallenge challenge: URLAuthenticationChallenge, shouldAllowDeprecatedTLS decisionHandler: @escaping @MainActor (Bool) -> Void) it doesn’t seem to change anything. I found something about the ASWebAuthenticationSessionWebBrowserSupported entitlement, but by my understanding this is used so a browser can get opened upon some other app calling a ASWebAuthenticationSession. Has anyone some guidance for me? I feel like webauthn and yubikey support are important security measures for our users. https://codeberg.org/miakoring/Amethyst/src/branch/main/Amethyst/Shared/ViewComponents/WebKit/WebViewModel.swift is the code for my webviewmodel. Delegates are in the Delecate folder https://codeberg.org/miakoring/Amethyst/src/branch/main/Amethyst/Shared/ViewComponents/WebKit

WKWebView Persistent 1st-Party Cookie Deletion: Automatic Removal Policies in iOS/Safari
Our current iOS application utilizes WKWebView to display a web application. We've observed intermittent deletion of non-expired 1st-party persistent cookies within this web application, leading to session drops. Here are our environment details and specific questions: Environment: App Build: Built with Xcode 16.2. WebView Class: WKWebView. Cookie Type: 1st-Party Persistent Cookie (Explicit expiration set, not a session cookie). Domain Configuration: The content server and the cookie-issuing server are the same (same IP address, same eTLD+1). The Cookie is set via the Set-Cookie HTTP Header on the server side. Questions: Automatic Deletion Policy: Are there any scenarios (e.g., related to iOS system behavior, Safari policies, or Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP)) where iOS or Safari might automatically delete non-expired 1st-party persistent cookies used by WKWebView? Deletion Conditions: If the answer to Q1 is Yes, under what specific conditions (e.g., memory pressure, inactivity, storage limits, specific ITP criteria) does this cookie deletion occur, and does the behavior differ significantly across various iOS versions? OS Update Impact: Are there any known specifications or documented cases where an iOS version update itself triggers the mass deletion of existing cookies stored in the WKWebsiteDataStore? Mitigation Strategy: If this automatic deletion is a known behavior, what mitigation strategies are officially recommended to ensure the persistence of essential 1st-party authentication cookies (e.g., manual synchronization with WKHTTPCookieStore or Keychain/UserDefaults)? Official Documentation: If the answer to Q1 is Yes, please provide URLs to any official Apple documentation or technical notes that detail the specifications or behavior of 1st-party persistent cookie deletion within WKWebView.

SAML with SSO extension triggering twice
I am developing an SSO Extension so that I can have SSO with Keycloak across applications. OIDC/OAuth2 works very well. But I am struggling with SAML. It works, but it seems that the form submission is always triggered twice. I use decisionHandler(.cancel) to stop the form submission and redirect it to the browser. I still get the form submitted both by the extension and by the browser. At some point I tried to allow the form submission in the Extension so that I get the redirect with the response to the browser. It still triggered another submission. Does anyone experience this issue?

In Tahoe, Safari tabs and Favorite bookmarks unreadable
This is my first post, so please forgive me if it is to the wrong area. I've been using Tahoe for a few days and, overall, it's very stable. But the one thing that has bothered me to no end is Safari's new behavior with respect to its header (Address bar, Favorite bookmarks bar, tab bar) background color. The web content of the active tab seems to affect everything - and oftentimes makes things completely unreadable - at least in "Dark" mode. For instance, if a web page uses a white background, the Favorites bookmark labels are the same color as the bookmark background, so reading the labels is simply impossible. At other times, they're just very difficult to read. Similarly, it is almost always impossible to tell which tab is the active one - my only workaround is to try 100% brightness....or to just guess. When Apple previously experimented with letting content bleed through to the top, there was a setting for stopping it - but I don't see such a setting anymore. Do you you know of any way to stop this effect?

blockedByFilter = .specific(domains) does not work on Safari
Hi there, I have a popular open source app called Foqos. What I'm finding in iOS 26 (might even effect older versions) is that when using the webcontent api within Managed settings as the following: store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .specific(domains) It doesn't work on Safari, but does work on third party applications like chrome, firefox, etc. But when using the all and exception enum like the following store.webContent.blockedByFilter = .all(except: domains) This does work on Safari This is pretty inconsistent behavior of the API and should be fixed to match the documentation. Documentation does not mention anything about Safari limitations Again source code is open: https://github.com/awaseem/foqos You can run the app yourself and find the same issues. Is anyone else experiencing this?
