Universal Links not opening my app.
My app has been published by 2 months now I still I cant get Universal Links to work. I checked a lot of docs as well as videos about setting up universal links. Everyone with clear steps: Add the well-known json file to the server. Already validated by AASA web validator. Add the Associated domain on project capabilities, with the Web page root only. Eg: applinks:example:com. Install the app and trying clicking a link from notepad. Or instead make a long press to deploy contextual menu to see if my app is on the selectable options to open the link. My app is not been open in any of my attempts and the console always trying to use safari. I had a couple of screenshots of my testing. I really need help with this.

Safari Extension: Cookie Header Missing in Background Fetch from Non-Default User Profile (Works in Default Profile)
When our Safari Web Extension makes a api request from its background script (registered via "scripts" in manifest.json, e.g., "background": { "scripts": ["js/background.bundle.js"] }) to our authenticated API endpoint (https://api-domain/user), the Cookie header is not included in the request. This occurs only when the extension is running within a non-default Safari User Profile. This causes our API to treat the user as unauthenticated. The exact same extension code, manifest, and API call work correctly (Cookie header is present and user is authenticated) when the extension is running in the Default Safari User Profile.

Failing Network Requests in Safari due to DNS cache.
We are seeing network errors in Outlook mail on iOS and MacOS safari browsers. As per current investigation, we notice these network error when the user tries to use outlook after leaving it open on Safari for a while. Observations: Issue present in both MacOS and iOS safari. Issue is not present in other webkit browsers like brave and edge on iOS. Issue is reproable on both mini and big owa on safari browser. Issue is not related to post requests being sent in different packets on safari browser. Requests are only blocked for outlook.office/outlook.live domains What does not fix this issue? Reloading the application Clearing cookie, local storage or session storage Unregistering service workers Redirecting to a different page and coming back to outlook domain Re authenticating the users What fixes this issue? Reconnecting to wifi or mobile network Reconnecting vpn Removing safari from background and reopening Flushing the dns in setting

Safari 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2 Download Issue in AngularJS Application
We are encountering a download issue in Safari 18.2 on macOS Sequoia 15.2 where file downloads initiated by our AngularJS application (such as Excel exports) are silently blocked. There are no errors in the browser console, and the download does not occur. Interestingly, after testing on Safari 18.3 with Sequoia 15.3, the downloads worked as expected. However, the problem reappeared on Safari 18.4 with Sequoia 15.4. We suspect that recent changes in Safari’s security or download handling may be preventing downloads triggered via asynchronous JavaScript (e.g., AJAX calls) that are not initiated directly by user interaction. We would appreciate any insights, suggestions, or possible workarounds from the community. Looking forward to your guidance on this matter.

Safari: Keyboard Focus for Scrollable Containers
Problem Safari requires tabindex="0" for keyboard access to scrollable containers. Chrome (v130+) and Firefox (v4+) handle this automatically. Current Behavior Chrome/Firefox: Scrollable div with overflow: auto → automatically keyboard-accessible (Tab to focus, Arrow keys to scroll) Safari: Same element → NOT keyboard-accessible unless: Add tabindex="0", OR Container has focusable children Workaround <div style="overflow-y: auto; height: 300px;" tabindex="0"> <!-- content --> </div> Issue: Adds unnecessary tab stops on Chrome/Firefox where not needed. Disable Smart Punctuation from Webpage
I would like to know if there is a way to disable Smart Punctuation from the webpage rather than requiring the user to do so from the settings. Adding a "inputmode=verbatim" attribute to the input HTML tags for my webpage did that for all the web browsers I tested on Windows, Ubuntu, Android, and MacOS. I tested Chrome and Firefox on all platforms, as well as Edge on Windows and Safari on Mac and iOS. So far the only time it did not disable Smart Punctuation was on Safari on iOS, but it did on MacOS.

Safe area issues on iOS 26 on website using WordPress plus elementor pro
I have a website I’m working on that uses WordPress and element mentor pro. Basically everything is custom HTML in individual containers and custom CSS for each page. The problem that I’m running into is there needs to be a pop-up and the easiest way to do that is just use the element or proper pop-ups however, the overlay is not extending into the safe areas on the bottom or top notch. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to fix this, and I cannot get it to work. I’ve tried having CSS in every imaginable way to get it to extend the overlay.. The other issue is for this website there is no header. It’s just a container that’s the hero content and for some reason that also will not extend into the top-notch safe area. It extends to the bottom notch just fine but not the top notch and there’s just a white bar there where I prefer it be the background gradient that I have set up for the hero however, nothing I do will get it to push into that top notch safe area either. Hoping someone else had this issue and can help me out

After iOS 18.4, files are called multiple times in WKWebView
Since the transition to iOS 18.4, we have been having an issue where when loading an m3u8 file specified in the src attribute of a video tag in WKWebView, the ts file is loaded repeatedly. Are there any good ideas for this? Also, if there have been any changes to the specifications of WKWebView, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.

Public API to Open Safari Settings in iOS Browser
Dear Apple Developer Support, I’m developing a Chromium-based iOS browser and want to open the Safari settings page (Settings → Apps→ Safari) like Chrome’s “Import data from Safari” feature, where clicking “Go to settings” opens the Safari settings page. To reproduce this behavior in Chrome: 1.In Chrome, search “Import password from Safari.” 2.Restart Chrome. 3.Go to Chrome → Settings → Safari import → Import to Chrome → Go to settings. 4.You will see it opens Settings → Apps → Safari. Please see the attached file for steps to trigger this feature in Chrome. My attempt with App-Prefs:root=SAFARI only opens the Settings main page ,Is there a public API to open the Safari settings page directly? Look forward to your reply, many thanks

iOS26 Safari private mode blocking our page code from reading inputs
With most recent Safari update, our page started having some of it's core functionality broken while users access it on Private mode due to Fingerprinting protection. The issue is that the code that breaks is our first-party code and I want understand why it is breaking and how to properly fix it. One thing we discovered was that a service of ours that uses the same code base doesn't have these issues and current assumption is that their page bundles are served on the same domain as the actual page request, while ours is coming from a different one. The other assumption was that the domain which we use for serving the bundles of the page are set on the domain that is flagged as tracking domain. Is there some documentation on how Safari decides which code is allowed reading user inputs and which isn't and what is the appropriate approach to fix this issue as it would be possible that these changes get release as default in the future?

Private Relay and locally hosted server
Enabling Private Relay seems to block XHR in Safari from reaching a local HTTPS server hosted by an iOS app, though it works in other browsers. Before (working): JS → https://local.example.com → 127.0.0.1 → OK After (blocked / no DNS reply probably): JS → https://local.example.com → ERR Is there any way to restore local domain access or mitigate this issue?

WebKit's `decidePolicy` breaking change in iOS 18.5 + Xcode 16.4
It seems that in iOS 18.5+ built with Xcode 16.4+, there has been a breaking change since 18.4 with 16.3 within WebKit and how the navigationAction.sourceFrame property is initialized when implementing the decidePolicy delegate method. The flow goes: Implement a WKNavigationActionDelegate with decidePolicy Call WKWebView.loadHTMLString("some-string", baseURL: nil) Upon loading the HTML content, read the value of navigationAction.sourceFrame within the decidePolicy method of the WKNavigationActionDelegate On iOS 18.4 (and below) with Xcode 16.3 (and below); navigationAction.sourceFrame is <uninitialized> On iOS 18.5+ with Xcode 16.4+: navigationAction.sourceFrame is already initialized and is equal to navigationAction.targetFrame It appears that this change was made between minor versions of Xcode and is unexpected behavior of a minor version. Not only was this not called out in the release notes for Xcode 16.4 and iOS 18.5, but it's technically also a breaking change to the WebKit API. Can we get insight on why this change was made and what Apple's policy is on breaking changes between minor versions of Xcode/iOS?

WebPage "older version of your browser"
I have a visionOS app using Apple's WebView and WebPage to display web content. When viewing a live YouTube stream last night, YouTube put up the warning in the area that would have the chat window: Oh no! It looks like you're using an older version of your browser. Anyone know if YouTube is generating this from the server based on the WebPage's user agent string, from Javascript running in the browser engine, or something else? Anyone know if and how it is possible to resolve this? (See right side of YouTube web page from a screen grab):

Safari falsely flags our secure site (outdoorgala.com) as deceptive — how to request a review
Hi Apple Devs & WebKit Team, We operate https://outdoorgala.com — a verified, HTTPS-secure Canadian ecommerce site focused on elite outdoor safety gear. We're Indigenous-owned, based in Alberta, and take customer trust and compliance seriously. However, Safari (iOS + macOS) is falsely flagging our site as “deceptive,” preventing customers from accessing us — even though: We use GoDaddy Website Builder with no redirections or malware All product links are clean, HTTPS-secure, and tracked ethically We recently implemented a fully compliant cookie banner (Accept/Decline logic) A public security.txt and OpenPGP key has been published: https://outdoorgala.com/security No phishing, malware, or cloaking behavior exists on the site We’ve already submitted a review via: ➡️ https://websitereview.apple.com And filed a bug report via Feedback Assistant (FB17608544) What else can be done to speed up review or get flagged domains unblocked in Safari? This is hurting our business and blocking consumer access — despite following all Apple guidelines. Would appreciate any insights or escalation tips. First installation of the extension - sending messages to the background script from the event handler in the content script does not work
After the first installation (out of AppStore) of the extension in the browser, the content script is correctly inserted into the page (twice for some reason) and a message is sent from the root of the content script to the background script, which responds correctly. However, if an event handler is registered within the content script, within which the message is also sent to the background script, it will never reach the background script. window.addEventListener("message", function (event) { // We only accept messages from ourselves if (event.source !== window) { return; } if (event.data.source && event.data.source === appIdentification) { browser.runtime.sendMessage(event.data); } }, false); It does not matter with what delay the event handler is called (i.e. the background script is not asleep). If I refresh the page or close and reopen the browser and reload the page, everything works correctly and the message sent from the event handler is already delivered to the background script. The event handler is used so that the extension code is uniform for all browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Opera, Firefox), i.e. it is not intended to use externally_connectable for sending messages from the webpage directly to the background script, which Safari should support. The expected behavior is that the extension will work even after the first installation, as is the case with other browsers. Procedure: Enter the test website: https://www.mssf.cz/testapp/check_client.aspx Do the initial installation of the extension (could be downloaded from here: https://1drv.ms/f/c/76f4c93826df41a0/Ej5MQX9ctyhHv_P9_t_6uAwB05ET-nzXuMhPeu56nOgkWg?e=cudqRJ) Set a breakpoint in the event handler for "message" within the content script, open the background script and set a breakpoint in the event handler for onMessage Click on the "Validate certificate" button on the page loaded in point 1 Step through the content script to the point where the message is sent to the background script, the breakpoint within the background script is never hit, which is an error, the message should come to the background script

HTML problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version
We confirmed a problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version. For confirmation, we made a HTML document (see below HTML1) what include ‘method="POST" target="_blank"’ and tested the form however server received GET method and there is no parameter, server did not receive “id” parameter. We confirmed that fact in captured packet and log file that on the server. HTML1: We also made another HTML document (see below HTML2) what include submit button, but the server received GET method as above. HTML2: And we also confirmed that it behaves differently depending on the network environment. If the form targets a name that does not exist (ex. target=” A12345”), behaves differently http or https. http: Safari opened new tag, but the server received GET method. Normally, Safari open new tag and the server receive POST method. https: Safari opened new tag, and the server received POST method. It is normally. If the form targets ‘_blank’, the server received GET method on http or https both. We think Safari change the method POST to GET and delete parameters. It is not conformed to the HTML specification if is that true. We confirmed it was not happened at Safari on iPadOS 17.4, and Windows PC (Edge, Chrome). The method what the server received is POST. We find same problem in Apple Support Community (see below URL). https://discussionsjapan.apple.com/thread/255987615 (Described in Japanese) Is it a bug in Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version? Do you have plan to fix? Or if fixed the bug, when do you release fixed version.

When loading a .webarchive in WKWebView does it handle local storage differently in iOS 18?
I have multiple web views of the same domain that share the same local storage, as expected. One of them though, is loading a .webarchive file. The web archive is of the same domain, and is loaded using the same base URL. For some reason, in most cases, the local storage is not shared with this web view when loading the web archive, although if I make that same web view load the actual live web page it does share local storage. I say in most cases, because for some users it works as expected, but for a significant portion of users it isn't sharing local storage. I think that the main difference between working and not is iOS version. iOS 17 seems to be able to share the local storage but iOS 18 does not. I can't find anything related in the release notes of iOS 18 versions. There is nothing in the documentation for load(_:mimeType:characterEncodingName:baseURL:), or the header file, that explains anything specific about local storage and webarchive loading. Does anyone know for sure how local storage is handled when a webarchive is loaded into a web view, and did something change with iOS 18 in regards to this?

Hey team, I've integrated custom WkWebsiteDatastore to manage profiling for different sessions. upon testing the WkWebsiteDataStore as its mentioned to be persistent But The storage can be accessed via identifier, But the session data in storage is absent, such as cookies caches all are cleared when app is relaunched is it the default behavior to be expected or there is some property missing causing the session data to be removed from storage.

Custom WkWebsiteDatastore
Hey team, I've integrated custom WkWebsiteDatastore to manage profiling for different sessions. upon testing the WkWebsiteDataStore as its mentioned to be persistent But The storage can be accessed via identifier, But the session data in storage is absent, such as cookies caches all are cleared when app is relaunched is it the default behavior to be expected or there is some property missing causing the session data to be removed from storage.
