Xcode Preview & Simulator test failed
I upgraded IOS to 15.5 yesterday and then my xcode failed to preview today. The error message I got is: Communication with Apple failed Your team has no devices from which to generate a provisioning profile. Connect a device to use or manually add device IDs in Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. https://developer.apple.com/account/ Any one knows how to fix it?

Trouble Distributing iOS + WatchOS App as a Bundle (Info.plist / Target Confusion)
Hi all, I’m running into an issue with my iOS + Apple Watch app project, and I could really use some advice. My WatchOS app requires an iOS companion for settings and configuration, so both apps need to be distributed together. Here’s how I structured my Xcode project: Main iOS App target WatchOS App target WatchOS Extension target However, I’m very confused about how these targets interact, and things are not working as expected. The problem: I can build and run the WatchOS app and its extension independently in the simulator by selecting their schemes. When I select the main iOS app scheme, I get an error about ITSWatchOnlyContainer in the Info.plist—even though there’s no Info tab for that target in Xcode. I’m able to distribute the WatchOS app by itself, and the extension as well. But I can’t distribute them bundled together as a single package, and I haven’t found any clear resources that explain how to fix this. This is my very first app, and it’s frustrating to get stuck just before the finish line! Project Structure / steps to reproduce Let’s say my project is called MyAppProject, with these targets: MyAppProject Main iOS App Embedded target: MyAppProject Watch App Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject MyAppProject Watch App WKCompanionAppBundleIdentifier: com.example.MyAppProject “Requires iOS App”: YES MyAppProject Extension Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject When running from the MyAppProject scheme, I get this error (even though I can’t see or edit the Info.plist in Xcode for this target): “Please try again later. This app has the ITSWatchOnlyContainer key set in its Info.plist, which identifies it as a shell app surrounding a Watch-only app; these are not installable.” As a result, I can’t distribute the app as a bundle. I’d appreciate help understanding: How should the Info.plist files be configured for each target? What do I do if the Info.plist path seems missing in the Xcode UI? Is there a “correct” way to structure an iOS + WatchOS app for bundled distribution?

Active Compilation Conditions in Packages
The flags like #if DEBUG ... endif are dependent on the Active Compilation Conditions. So if they say DEBUG the enclosed code block will be executed, otherwise not. Now I have the phenomenon that a #DEBUG block in a Package does not evaluate these conditions. It rather depends on the name of the configuration used to build. So if I build my app with Active Compilation Condition set to DEBUG, but the configuration name is something like App-Release, the DEBUG block in my Package is not added/executed. The ones which are directly in the project are added. Vice versa if the Compilation Condition say RELEASE but the configuration is called App-Debug the blocks in the Package are added to the compilation, but the ones in the project itself are not It suffices that the config name contains the word Debug for this to happen. E.g. the configuration App-Release-Debug (I know that this would be stupid, but it is for demonstrating purposes) will cause the Packages to include the DEBUG blocks. This happens no matter what you set in the Build Settings of the project and/or target. The Packages are added via GitHub/GitLab Source Control with SPM. Any ideas why this behaves like it does? It doesn't seem like it should...

iOS beta 26 simulators will not in "Apple could not verify"
Apple could not verify “iPad_Air_M2_26.0_23A5260n_Restore.ipsw” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. xCode 26 fails to download simulators. I downloaded from the apple developer site. When I double click I get the above message. I went to the System Settings > GateKeeper, and selected Open Anyway. This poped up a window with a button, Open in xCode-bata. Clicking the button does not appear to do anything. I can not use xcode without simulators.

Xcode 16.4 fails to build swift packages.

Info.plist unable to install - With Firebase Framework & Package Manager
I'm having trouble with this Info.plist for Firebase Frameworks/FirebaseFirestoreInternal.framework/Info.plist unable to install It looks like Firebase removed Info.plist files in 10.20.0. and its causing this error below. Most of the online support says to update Cocafile PODs to not embed however I can't find any solutions for Package Manager. App crashing on real iPhone only (working fine on simulator and Xcode preview)
Hi, I'm currently facing an issue where my React Native app crashes only on a real iPhone. On the simulator and in Xcode preview, the app runs fine. Previously, I had an issue with FlatList regarding props.getItem, which I solved by installing some missing Babel dependencies. After that, everything worked correctly in the simulator. But when I try to open the app on a real device, it shows the splash screen and crashes immediately. Xcode build system has crashed after adding opencv to macApp
Hi, I am currently working on a MacOS App, where I need the undistortion function of opencv. But after I tried to add opencv to my project, I get following error: unexpected service error: The Xcode build system has crashed. Build again to continue. Cleaning the build folder also doesn't help. Does anyone have an idea what could be the issue? Ryan

openURL:options:completionHandler: Simulator Bug
Xcode 16.2. When calling openURL:options:completionHandler: when in the simulator for a link in the app store (for example: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slidewords/id503737864?mt=8) behavior is fine for simulated iPads, not for simulated iPhones. When the simulated device is an iPad, the call correctly opens the app store link. When the simulated device is an iPhone, an error message "Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid." Note: the call works on an an actual iPhone (iPhone SE 3rd generation, unsure about other devices).

Can you use an external macOS device as an Xcode run destination?
Just wondering if it is possible to configure a secondary macbook to act as a run destination in Xcode, similar to how you would configure an iPhone as a run destination. I have tried connecting my device via USB-C and I can see that my macbook detects the second macbook via USB but it does not show up when trying to add devices in Xcode. I suppose this flow might not be supported?

Breakpoint on Runtime Issue os_log_fault_default_callback
The app stops on the breakpoint when "All Runtime Issues" is added. If I disable the breakpoint, the app runs normally. Is there a new project setting to avoid this breakpoint from being set. It does not appear to be a valid error. I am running Xcode 16.2. I edited the "Type" field in the breakpoint box. This occurs with the "System Frameworks" option only.

Xcode JSONDecoder playground fails with 'The LLDB RPC server has crashed.
If I create a playground project that uses a JSONDecoder I get the following error. The LLDB RPC Server has crashed. The crash log is located at ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and has a prefix 'lldb-rpc-server'. Please file a bug and attach the most recent crash log. I have raised feedback for this, FB17702087, but I hope that there may be a workaround. ActivityKit linker error
I have a ContentView in my app which includes the line of code FileUploadProgressAttributes. this struct is defined in a file included in the target FileUploadProgressExtension. and it is an ActivityAttributes. in ContentView I imported FileUploadProgressExtension, and the xcode is able to find the FileUploadProgressAttributes during prebuild. but during build, it gives me Undefined symbols for architecture arm64: "FileUploadProgressExtension.FileUploadProgressAttributes.init(filename: Swift.String) -> FileUploadProgressExtension.FileUploadProgressAttributes the workaround i found is to add the file with the FileUploadProgressAttributes to my app's target, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do. When Xcode created the extension for me, it added the extension target as a target dependency of my app. so obviously if i added this file to my app target it makes the extension target pointless. First time working with widgets so I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

WatchOS app - installation not working
Hi everyone, I’ve been trying since yesterday to set up an Apple Watch app alongside my iOS app, but it’s not working at all. I created the app by adding a new target, selected watchOS > App, and linked it to my iOS project. When I run the Apple Watch scheme directly, the app works, but if I try to install it on my Apple Watch via the iOS app, it doesn’t work. Every time I tap install, I get a message saying that the installation failed. While reading the documentation, they mention an Info.plist file that is supposed to be generated with the watchOS app, but when I check, I don’t see any .plist file. Is that normal? Thanks for your help.

unsupported option '-G' for target 'arm64-apple-ios12.0'
I had an Intel macbook and I used that to build and release my app to app store but I didn't release for 2 years. Recently a bug was reported that I needed to update the a code and make a new release with my apple silicon macbook. But I get this issue when I go to Product -> Archive. I have Xcode on my mac. I am iOS Dev. I do not know what version of Xcode was before I did next steps, but I could say that I had iOS Simulator 18.3.1. So I update my Xcode to Version 16.3 (16E140). At this version is available iOS Simulator 18.4. But from some time before Xcode separate downloading components and actual Xcode itself. So i make update and do not download latest iOS simulator. What i have: in Xcode -> Settings -> Components under " Other Installed Platforms" i have iOS 18.3.1 and 17.5 in Choose Destination dropdown menu i have nothing. And Xcode say me that i need install iOS Simulator. After some time with ChatGPT I could not do nothing from this. I try go to : Window -> Device and Simulators and here create new simulator with 18.3.1 and make it appear Always. But it didn't help. Solution I did: I download latest version 18.4 because i could not wait because i need fix bug only 1 hour shift and it was this hour so i fast download the simulator. After downloading 18.4 in Choose Destination dropdown it appears all versions of simulaors and 18.3.1 and that i created and 17.5 Question: Does Xcode force to install latest version of iOS simulator? What is the sense of this upgrade that now Xcode is updating faster because it download 8 GB not 16 if eventually I need download 8 GB again ? The new what i could do download Xcode in the evening and Simulator in the morning?

webviews are crashing in 18.5 simulator
The app I am working on crashes when opening a webview. webviews are working on iOS 18.2 simulator, but crashing in 18.5 simulator. On actual devices they don't seem to crash. Can someone know the reason for it and how to fix it?

I upgraded IOS to 15.5 yesterday and then my xcode failed to preview today. The error message I got is: Communication with Apple failed Your team has no devices from which to generate a provisioning profile. Connect a device to use or manually add device IDs in Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. https://developer.apple.com/account/ Any one knows how to fix it?

Trouble Distributing iOS + WatchOS App as a Bundle (Info.plist / Target Confusion)
Hi all, I’m running into an issue with my iOS + Apple Watch app project, and I could really use some advice. My WatchOS app requires an iOS companion for settings and configuration, so both apps need to be distributed together. Here’s how I structured my Xcode project: Main iOS App target WatchOS App target WatchOS Extension target However, I’m very confused about how these targets interact, and things are not working as expected. The problem: I can build and run the WatchOS app and its extension independently in the simulator by selecting their schemes. When I select the main iOS app scheme, I get an error about ITSWatchOnlyContainer in the Info.plist—even though there’s no Info tab for that target in Xcode. I’m able to distribute the WatchOS app by itself, and the extension as well. But I can’t distribute them bundled together as a single package, and I haven’t found any clear resources that explain how to fix this. This is my very first app, and it’s frustrating to get stuck just before the finish line! Project Structure / steps to reproduce Let’s say my project is called MyAppProject, with these targets: MyAppProject Main iOS App Embedded target: MyAppProject Watch App Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject MyAppProject Watch App WKCompanionAppBundleIdentifier: com.example.MyAppProject “Requires iOS App”: YES MyAppProject Extension Bundle identifier: com.example.MyAppProject When running from the MyAppProject scheme, I get this error (even though I can’t see or edit the Info.plist in Xcode for this target): “Please try again later. This app has the ITSWatchOnlyContainer key set in its Info.plist, which identifies it as a shell app surrounding a Watch-only app; these are not installable.” As a result, I can’t distribute the app as a bundle. I’d appreciate help understanding: How should the Info.plist files be configured for each target? What do I do if the Info.plist path seems missing in the Xcode UI? Is there a “correct” way to structure an iOS + WatchOS app for bundled distribution?

Active Compilation Conditions in Packages
The flags like #if DEBUG ... endif are dependent on the Active Compilation Conditions. So if they say DEBUG the enclosed code block will be executed, otherwise not. Now I have the phenomenon that a #DEBUG block in a Package does not evaluate these conditions. It rather depends on the name of the configuration used to build. So if I build my app with Active Compilation Condition set to DEBUG, but the configuration name is something like App-Release, the DEBUG block in my Package is not added/executed. The ones which are directly in the project are added. Vice versa if the Compilation Condition say RELEASE but the configuration is called App-Debug the blocks in the Package are added to the compilation, but the ones in the project itself are not It suffices that the config name contains the word Debug for this to happen. E.g. the configuration App-Release-Debug (I know that this would be stupid, but it is for demonstrating purposes) will cause the Packages to include the DEBUG blocks. This happens no matter what you set in the Build Settings of the project and/or target. The Packages are added via GitHub/GitLab Source Control with SPM. Any ideas why this behaves like it does? It doesn't seem like it should...

iOS beta 26 simulators will not in "Apple could not verify"
Apple could not verify “iPad_Air_M2_26.0_23A5260n_Restore.ipsw” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. xCode 26 fails to download simulators. I downloaded from the apple developer site. When I double click I get the above message. I went to the System Settings > GateKeeper, and selected Open Anyway. This poped up a window with a button, Open in xCode-bata. Clicking the button does not appear to do anything. I can not use xcode without simulators.

App crashing on real iPhone only (working fine on simulator and Xcode preview)
Hi, I'm currently facing an issue where my React Native app crashes only on a real iPhone. On the simulator and in Xcode preview, the app runs fine. Previously, I had an issue with FlatList regarding props.getItem, which I solved by installing some missing Babel dependencies. After that, everything worked correctly in the simulator. Xcode build system has crashed after adding opencv to macApp

openURL:options:completionHandler: Simulator Bug
Xcode 16.2. When calling openURL:options:completionHandler: when in the simulator for a link in the app store (for example: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slidewords/id503737864?mt=8) behavior is fine for simulated iPads, not for simulated iPhones. When the simulated device is an iPad, the call correctly opens the app store link. When the simulated device is an iPhone, an error message "Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid." Note: the call works on an an actual iPhone (iPhone SE 3rd generation, unsure about other devices).

Can you use an external macOS device as an Xcode run destination?
Just wondering if it is possible to configure a secondary macbook to act as a run destination in Xcode, similar to how you would configure an iPhone as a run destination. I have tried connecting my device via USB-C and I can see that my macbook detects the second macbook via USB but it does not show up when trying to add devices in Xcode. I suppose this flow might not be supported?

Breakpoint on Runtime Issue os_log_fault_default_callback
The app stops on the breakpoint when "All Runtime Issues" is added. If I disable the breakpoint, the app runs normally. Is there a new project setting to avoid this breakpoint from being set. It does not appear to be a valid error. I am running Xcode 16.2. I edited the "Type" field in the breakpoint box. This occurs with the "System Frameworks" option only.

Xcode JSONDecoder playground fails with 'The LLDB RPC server has crashed.
If I create a playground project that uses a JSONDecoder I get the following error. The LLDB RPC Server has crashed. The crash log is located at ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and has a prefix 'lldb-rpc-server'. Please file a bug and attach the most recent crash log. I have raised feedback for this, FB17702087, but I hope that there may be a workaround. I have a ContentView in my app which includes the line of code FileUploadProgressAttributes. this struct is defined in a file included in the target FileUploadProgressExtension. and it is an ActivityAttributes. in ContentView I imported FileUploadProgressExtension, and the xcode is able to find the FileUploadProgressAttributes during prebuild. but during build, it gives me Undefined symbols for architecture arm64: "FileUploadProgressExtension.FileUploadProgressAttributes.init(filename: Swift.String) -> FileUploadProgressExtension.FileUploadProgressAttributes the workaround i found is to add the file with the FileUploadProgressAttributes to my app's target, but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do. When Xcode created the extension for me, it added the extension target as a target dependency of my app. so obviously if i added this file to my app target it makes the extension target pointless. First time working with widgets so I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying since yesterday to set up an Apple Watch app alongside my iOS app, but it’s not working at all. I created the app by adding a new target, selected watchOS > App, and linked it to my iOS project. When I run the Apple Watch scheme directly, the app works, but if I try to install it on my Apple Watch via the iOS app, it doesn’t work. Every time I tap install, I get a message saying that the installation failed. While reading the documentation, they mention an Info.plist file that is supposed to be generated with the watchOS app, but when I check, I don’t see any .plist file. Is that normal? Thanks for your help.

unsupported option '-G' for target 'arm64-apple-ios12.0'
I had an Intel macbook and I used that to build and release my app to app store but I didn't release for 2 years. Recently a bug was reported that I needed to update the a code and make a new release with my apple silicon macbook. But I get this issue when I go to Product -> Archive. Does Xcode force to download latest iOS simulator after update?
I have Xcode on my mac. I am iOS Dev. I do not know what version of Xcode was before I did next steps, but I could say that I had iOS Simulator 18.3.1. So I update my Xcode to Version 16.3 (16E140). At this version is available iOS Simulator 18.4. But from some time before Xcode separate downloading components and actual Xcode itself. So i make update and do not download latest iOS simulator. What i have: in Xcode -> Settings -> Components under " Other Installed Platforms" i have iOS 18.3.1 and 17.5 in Choose Destination dropdown menu i have nothing. And Xcode say me that i need install iOS Simulator. After some time with ChatGPT I could not do nothing from this. I try go to : Window -> Device and Simulators and here create new simulator with 18.3.1 and make it appear Always. But it didn't help. Solution I did: I download latest version 18.4 because i could not wait because i need fix bug only 1 hour shift and it was this hour so i fast download the simulator. After downloading 18.4 in Choose Destination dropdown it appears all versions of simulaors and 18.3.1 and that i created and 17.5 Question: Does Xcode force to install latest version of iOS simulator? What is the sense of this upgrade that now Xcode is updating faster because it download 8 GB not 16 if eventually I need download 8 GB again ? The new what i could do download Xcode in the evening and Simulator in the morning?
