I have a Mac Mini (M4) running macOS Sequoia 15.3.1.
I very recently downloaded and installed the current version of XCode from the app store. I have not added any extensions - it's a vanilla, un-customized, un-enhanced installation.
I have two user profiles (accounts) on my Mac: one Administrator and one Standard, each using a different apple account. I am using the Standard user account to learn XCode.
When I attempt to set up a project, I get an error message when Xcode initially tries to save the (provided) project template file. The error states:
"Failed to save Project2.xcodeproj. The backing file has been modified outside of XCode."
I am using a NAS drive to store my project file. I have also tried saving it to the Desktop. It makes no difference to the error wherever the file is being saved.
Similarly, I tried changing the Standard user account to an Administrator account to see if it was a privileges problem. Again, it made no difference to the error message. (So I changed the account back to a Standard user).
I have tried googling the error but I only find references to problems related to extension/add-in products to XCode: none of which have I added to my XCode installation.
I am attaching screenshots of the steps through the project creation process. Hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong or what the problem is.
Thank you.

I am developing a game that has 3 team members.
I can manually start up 3 simulators and run the game for developing/testing but seem like there should be a simple way to click build/run and have it launch on all three automatically.
Does anyone know how to do this or if its even possible without writing some scripts?

I am trying to understand what is causing this issue. Even after archiving and installing the app, it still crashes. According to the official documentation, Xcode 16 is supposed to support iOS 12, but this issue persists. I would like to know the possible reasons for this behavior.
iPhone does not show Xcode app when plugged to MacBook. Anybody know something about viewing your app on your iPhone? Thanks
It looks like, for some reason, our apps are using a bunch of power sometimes. sysdiagnose has this in the power log:
Never mind. Including the output of sysdiagnose has "sensitive language," and it won't tell me what is sensitive, making this a waste of my time.
ETA: Ok, I I can attach the file: power.log
I've gone through the energy documentation, but it seems geared towards embedded, not macOS, so I'm not sure how I can figure this out more. The extra problem, of course, is that we have a network extension, two daemons, and a GUI app. 😄
We applied for the Apple Developer Program more than two weeks ago, and our application is completely stuck with no updates or clear next steps. Despite providing all required documents (Company registration, D-U-N-S number, ID verification, etc. and several times !), we are still waiting for approval, while there is nothing complicated (EU citizens, UK company)
We've reached out multiple times to Apple Support but have received no concrete answers or timeline for when our application will be reviewed. Meanwhile, we have successfully completed similar processes with Google, Meta, and financial institutions like banks or PSP, all within 48h !
How can a company like Apple treat its partners this way? The lack of transparency in the approval process is frustrating and severely impacts our timeline. This kind of experience does not inspire trust or confidence in doing business with Apple...
🔹 Has anyone else experienced such long delays in the enrollment process?
🔹 Is there any way to escalate this to get an actual response?
Apple, please address this issue and provide a clear resolution.
Thank you.

Hi All,
Hoping someone can shed light on the correct way to proceed for App Review using an app built with Unity's IAP Service. I'm unsure if I have a problem with my build or there is a problem with my sequencing of the review process.
Unity’s IAP won’t recognize a product until it exists on App Store Connect (which you would expect), however App Store Connect won’t publish products until they are reviewed with a submitted binary.
I submitted a binary with my first product for review and the app was rejected for “completeness” because the product was unavailable.
I requested clarification and the review team sent a screenshot back showing the store page in the game with the IAP UI in the state I would expect for no products returned (the buttons say “unavailable” and are disabled) - which makes sense, because the IAP is not approved and therefore not available.
The review team sent the following:
"When validating receipts on your server, your server needs to be able to handle a production-signed app getting its receipts from Apple’s test environment. The recommended approach is for your production server to always validate receipts against the production App Store first. If validation fails with the error code “Sandbox receipt used in production,” you should validate against the test environment instead."
It seems we are not event to the point of receipt validation because the rejection is due to products not being approved and therefore not returned when the app queries them.
So the app can't be approved unless it can be tested before the product exist in App Store Connect, but Unity's IAP won’t recognize the product until it exists in App Score Connect?
Since I had submitted once I was able to resubmit just the IAP, but that was rejected for completeness because it didn't include a binary - which was rejected because the IAP was not present - and the IAP was not present because it was not approved.
The IAP is a very simple "100 Gems" in game currency pack so I don't believe it is being rejected on its own merits, but I suppose I could be mistaken there.
I can’t be the only one with this problem, or I must be missing something… or there is something else wrong with my build.
Suggestions much appreciated!
Hello all:)
I am using Xcode 16.2, react native 0.76, simulator -> iPhone 15(17.0), mac M1 Sequoia 15.2.
Many "could not build module" errors appear while building files inside iPhoneSimulator18.2.sdk.
The think is that I don't even use this simulator and if I try to delete it the Xcode hides all other simulator options and requires 18.2 to download..
Of course I already tried to clean and delete and reinstall everything but nothing works..
Any help is welcome:)
Thanks!
Since iOS 18.2 the simulators have been missing the content under Apps menu for Settings. We are on to iOS 18.3 and still no Apps settings.

Good day everyone. I am brand new to developing IOS applications and I am attempting to use Visual Studio .Net Maui with.net Core 8 to connect up my local device and debug my application. This is successful, however I am attempting to find a working example of using the google auth oAuth 2.0 API to validate a google user and return back to the application. I don't think this is that difficult however it appears that the callback is not being set up correctly in Google Auth API.
Has anyone successfully done this with .net Maui and C# in Visual Studio 2022?

What I want?
I expect to use xcrun devicectl device process launch --device <uuid> <bundle-identifier> --payload-url <URL> to launch my app and pass the specified URL as I usually do in iPhone.
What I do?
Let's say the app A which I'm developing.
I try to use UIApplication.open(:options:completionHandler:) in another app to open the app A with registered schema. And whether app A is cold launch or background resumption, app A can go foreground with receiving URL.
If I use xcrun devicectl as above described, app A can still be opened. However, app A can't receive URL which I pass through --payload-url option. That's different from in iOS.
BTW: I as well try YouTube with UIApplication.open and xcrun devicectl, the former way work, the latter way not work.

Hello,
I'm doing an update to my app already IN the app store.
The app is built using .Net Maui targeting iOS, Windows and Android.
All works fine in debug and in release on Android and Windows.
However, the app launches on my iOS devices and crashes immediately.
I really have no idea what the crash report on the device is telling me.
Attached is the .ips file if anyone can at least point me in the right direction...
Thanks

Xcode 16 seems to „forget“ a swift package within a subfolder of a root package after restart or shut-down.
I have the following project structure, which also resembles the directory structure on disc:
MyPackage
- Package.swift
- README.md
- Sources
- MyPackage
- Tests
- MyPackageTests
- Tools
- MyGenerator // <- after restart this folder is not visible in the Xcode project navigator
- Package.swift
- Sources
- main.swift
- Tests
MyGenerator is a standalone package which is used during development of MyPackage to generate source code files for MyPackage based on text file input. Essentially an executable target script which I can run within its folder with:
swift run MyGenerator someInputFile.txt
MyPackage does NOT use MyGenerator as a dependency, nor do I want this tool listed as a dependency in MyPackage Package.swift file.
Yet MyGenerator is part of the same Git repo, as it documents the changes to the tool on how to generate source code for MyPackage. Both packages are developed in tandem.
MyGenerator itself defines dependencies in its Package.swift file, which are unrelated to the functionality of MyPackage.
After restart of Xcode or even just a longer shut-down period the MyGenerator subfolder is not visible in the Xcode project navigator, the /Tools folder is empty. I have to manually add the sub package via Add files to "MyPackage" -> Move files to destination every time.
How can I solve that Xcode remembers the sub package unter /Tools?
Edit: I am using Xcode 16.2
A while ago, perhaps early in v16, Xcode stopped tracking file liveness. I'd hoped the regression would be fixed, but... not yet.
Is there some setting I'm missing? Is this from underlying filesystem limits? or from working with swift packages?
Conversely, if/since this is a regression, is this the new normal, and not to be fixed (e.g., because the modern build system cannot be retrofitted to detect and update stale resources)?
Assuming I create a Swift package and open it in Xcode...
1. New files
I expect to get errors when I create a new swift file, add bad code, and build.
Instead, the file doesn't seem to be added to the build.
If I try to use Add Files to "{project}".. menu, the file is disabled for selection.
A workaround is to close and re-open the project
2. Files updated extrinsically
If outside Xcode I format the files in the package or edit them, I expect Xcode to notice and either 1) update with the new contents if there were no changes, or 2) ask what to do if there were changes.
Instead, Xcode proceeds oblivious to the underlying changes.
It is not a workaround to use Integrate/Refresh file status menu for SCM status.
Again, a workaround is to close and re-open the project.
Possible factors
Swift package projects, if resource tracking is tied to metadata unused in package projects?
External filesystem: these are on APFS volumes mounted via TB-4 and USB-3
Pilot error?
Impact
This leads me to re-open projects 10's of times a day, to create test files or maintain lint. Also, because I have to drop out of Xcode to process files before checking in, I end up using an external git workflow/UI.
Also, because Xcode is not particularly extensible, I've written external tools for analyzing and generating Swift, hosted via CLI or eclipse (which support resource markers for UI navigation). I use Swift LSP in Eclipse for analysis and git-driven changes, and end up coding there because well, I'm already there.
I'd take slower builds over this continuous hassle and context-switching in a heartbeat.
