I installed xcode 16 and both Predictive Code Completion Model and iOS 18.0 Simulator Failed Download.
I can live without the code completion, but I can not get any Simulator to install.
I clicked of the info button and it shows the following:

At the Platform State of the Union, Apple demoed clicking a ✨ button in the Xcode toolbar to use Apple Intelligence in Xcode.
I don't see that button in Xcode Version 26.0 beta (17A5241e). Am I missing it? It's supposed to be in the upper-left corner, right?
Do I need to turn it on or something? I'm on macOS 15.5 Sequoia, on a 16-inch, 2021 MacBook Pro

I'm getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=2, address=0x7ff8a6e2fcce) when launching my app on the simulator with Address or Thread Sanitizer enabled. I'm running Xcode 16.3 (16E140) on macOS Sequoia 15.4.1 (24E263). The call stack looks like the following.
On the device, there is no crash, but this message is printed to the console:
malloc: nano zone abandoned due to inability to reserve vm space.
(Not sure if it's related.)
Does anybody know what is causing the crash?

My project build failed in Xcode Cloud(works well in my local Mac), and the error shows: Preparing build for App Store Connect failed
The error message is not clear enough to help us find the solution to fix it. Can anyone help with it?
Hiya folks! I'm David and I work on rust-analyzer, which is a language server for Rust similar to sourcekit-lsp. I'm using the new Instruments profiling tooling functionality in Xcode 16.3 and Xcode 26 (Processor Trace and CPU Counters) to profile our trait solver/type checker. While I've been able to use the new CPU Counters instrument successfully (the CPU Bottleneck feature is incredible! Props to the team!), I've been unable to make use of the Processor Trace instrument.
Instruments gives me the error message "Processor Trace cannot profile this process without proper permissions". The diagnostic suggests adding the com.apple.security-get-task-allow entitlement to the code I'm trying to profile, or ensure that the build setting CODE_SIGN_INJECT_BASE_ENTITLEMENTS = YES is enabled in Xcode.
Unfortunately, I don't know how I can add that entitlement to a self-signed binary produced by Cargo and I'm not using Xcode for somewhat obvious reasons.
Here's some information about my setup:
Instruments Version 26.0 (17A5241e)
I'm on an 14" MacBook Pro with M4 Pro. It's running macOS Version 26.0 Beta (25A5295e).
I've enabled the "Processor Trace" feature in "Developer Tools" and even added the Instruments application to "Developer Tools".
As a last-ditch effort before posting this, I disabled SIP on my Mac. Didn't help.
To reproduce my issue:
Get Rust via https://rustup.rs/.
Clone rust-analyzer: git clone https://github.com/rust-lang/rust-analyzer.git.
cd rust-analyzer
Run cargo test --package hir-ty --lib --profile=dev-rel -- tests::incremental::add_struct_invalidates_trait_solve --exact --show-output. By default, this command will output a bunch of build progress with the output containing something like Running unittests src/lib.rs (target/dev-rel/deps/hir_ty-f1dbf1b1d36575fe).
I take the absolute path of that hir_ty-$SOME-HASH string (in my case, it looks like /Users/dbarsky/Developer/rust-analyzer/target/dev-rel/deps/hir_ty-f1dbf1b1d36575fe) and add it to the "Launch" profile. To the arguments section, I add --exact tests::incremental::add_struct_invalidates_trait_solve.
I then try to record/profile via Instruments, but then I get the error message I shared above.
Below is output of codesign -dvvv:
❯ codesign -dvvv target/dev-rel/deps/hir_ty-f1dbf1b1d36575fe

Any tips would be welcome! Additionally—and perhaps somewhat naively—I think I'd expect the Processor Trace instrument to just work with an adhoc-signed binary, as lldb and friends largely do—I'm not sure that such a high barrier for CPU perf counters is warranted, especially on an adhoc-signed binary.
I am building a bundle target for macOS 12 and later using Xcode. The bundle is not a standalone app, but a plug-in that is loaded by a host app. The code is written in Swift and uses the new Span API which is available in the OS-provided standard library in macOS 26 and backdeploys to macOS 10.14.4+.
Xcode should instruct the linker to include libswiftCompatibilitySpan.dylib in the compiled bundle to provide this backdeployment, but that does not happen.
SwiftPM does this additional linking by adding an rpath.
When trying to load the bundle using the NSBundle.loadAndReturnError() API, I get the following error on macOS 15 (and no error on macOS 26):

Hi there,
We’re encountering this error in all of our builds when using the latest Xcode and macOS:
The Metal Toolchain was not installed and could not compile the Metal source files. Download the Metal Toolchain from Xcode > Settings > Components and try again.
In short, all builds are failing. I’ve tried fixing this by installing Metal and applying other solutions, but none of them worked reliably.
Is there a way to ensure that the Metal Toolchain is installed on the CI machine?
Export archive step fails in Xcode Cloud when using Xcode 26.2 (17C48) RC.
The same project exports successfully when switching back to Xcode 26.1 in Xcode Cloud workflow settings.
The same project exports successfully when using Xcode 26.2 RC locally.
Projects without Apple Watch app do not encounter this issue (not so sure about this).

Workaround
Switching Xcode Cloud workflow to use Xcode 26.1 works around the issue.
Using Xcode 26.2 RC locally works around the issue.
I am using SwiftData for my model. Until Xcode 15 beta 4 I did not have issues. Since beta 5 I am receiving the following red warning multiple times:
'NSKeyedUnarchiveFromData' should not be used to for un-archiving and will be removed in a future release
This seems to be a CoreData warning. However, I am not using CoreData directly. I have no way to change the config of CoreData as used by SwiftData.
My model just uses UUID, Int, String, Double, some of them as optionals or Arrays. I only use one attribute (.unique).
I have designed a new icon for my app/Tahoe in Icon Composer (launched from within Xcode)but I simply cannot get it to show up. The documentation for Icon Composer spends a lot of time describing how to design the icons but goes distressingly vague/silent on how one might use it. It suggests that I should drag the file to Xcode and it will guide me as to where to put it.
The app continues to use the old (pre-Tahoe) icon.
I don't get any change of behaviour and I don't know what to name the file. I assume that there are no other settings that I have to change. I can't find anything on the web or in Apple's documentation: maybe I'm missing something obvious!
My app is a working NSDocument-based Cocoa project.
Any suggestions please.

Hi, our builds with a Test action in Xcode Cloud are failing because of an internal Xcode Cloud crash.
We see the "red cloud with an X" icon, that indicates that it's an Xcode Cloud issue, and the message says "The Test - iOS action could not complete due to an error. The error may not occur on rebuild." but this has been happening for a while now, and for repeated builds.
In the artifacts there is a crash log apparently related to the "ibtoold" process, has anybody had this issue before?
Thanks

I have an AppleTV app which I released in 2016. I've updated it and released a new version every year without much hassle.
This year, with tvOS 17.2, the layered app icon isn't working right. This is a two-layer image made with PNGs.
When it's selected, it looks right and the layers move correctly:
But when it's not selected, the background layer disappears:
Screenshots are from the simulator but it also happens on the device. It's inconsistent; sometimes it's the front layer that disappears. Occasionally both layers work, but I can't tell why.
I've spent a day trying everything. Very frustrated.
The icon previews correctly in Xcode and in Parallax Viewer.
The image sizes are correct: 400 x 240 for Small, 800 x 480 for Small@2x, 1280 x 768 for Large.
The back layer is a non-transparent PNG.
I tried adding a Large@2x set. Didn't help.
Originally I had a three-layer image with no middle layer PNG. I deleted the empty middle layer, but that didn't help.
All the PNG files are from GnuIMP. Same color space, even.
I was using the filenames tvicon-back-s.png and tvicon-back-s@2x.png. I tried taking out the @ sign in case that was confusing Xcode. (It never has before, but I am flailing here.)
Anybody have any clues? If it's an Apple bug and there's nothing I can do, I'm going to just push the release button and hope it fixes itself someday.
I downloaded the latest version of Xcode 26 (beta). I'm running Max OS 15.5. How can I use Claude 4 Opus? I can't wait to try this out. Thanks in advance!

Hi!
In neither Xcode 16.2 beta 3 nor Xcode 16.2 I am able to get App Shortcuts Preview to recognise my Shortcuts. In either supported language I always get "No Matching Intent" as the result.
Flexible matching is enabled, minimum deployment target is iOS 18. The Shortcut phrases do work in the simulator and on device.
Is this a known issue or am I missing something?
I tried to post a reply to a thread. It seems to be posted, but does not appear in the thread once sent…
So I have a MacOS application that was working just fine before Xcode 16. The Widgets are not working anymore.
The main application and the widgets share a file in a common App Group.
The widget app now get a permission error when accessing the file.
Also, the Widget Kit simulator keeps crashing.
I also try to start a new project in Xcode, add a target with a Widget extension with an App Intent and run it, and it also crashes.
Sometimes, it doesn't crash but just display the error: "Failed to load widget. The operation couldn't be completed. (WidgetKit_Simulator.WidgetDocument.Error error 2.).
Edited to attach WidgetKit error log

I'm currently exploring Instruments for profiling and tracing on macOS 15.6.1. I know there is the "network connections" instrument which records TCP/UDP information, however it seems to not include the "lo0" (loopback) interface.
Is there a way to configure it so that localhost traffic is included in the recording? as the application I'm tracing uses that and I want that information to be included in traces.
The documentation for network-interface-detection schema makes no mention of how it detects interfaces.
Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone I was just wandering how could I change my user name on the developer forum and if this was event possible to do so ?
